What if a laser and slightly faster lock on was added, and an alteration removes the laser and slows the lock on but deals no splash damage?

Does not do enough damage to warrant a laser.  Buff damage with laser and what's the point?  That's Shaft...

The laser is too standard anyway. But that doesn't mean Gauss doesn't need an indicator.

Lol. Why is it your favorite.

  • Stupidly OP
  • Damn near no protections against it
  • Pairs incredibly well with Overdrives
  • Has a blast radius bigger than that of pre-patch Magnum
  • Sniping mode is silent

The amount of damage when paired with hornet od and dd.

The blast radius is crazy awesome.

No laser is so helpful.

And i like that the accelerated round is instant. No travel time.

This just proves it needs a huge splash damage nerf. It should be the same amount of splash damage as the current Magnum, as both turrets have generally deal the same amount of damage.

No, it just proves that it should never have been added in the game. Would've been suited as an alteration for thunder at best.

The game isn't designed for a turret that can stealthily lock on to you dealing huge amounts of damage in one shot at long range. Let alone that and is extremely versatile, has a large collateral damage, and is an upgraded version of thunder and striker.  Hell, even sniper shafts are kinda obsolete compared to this thing.

Ok, @TheCongoSpider, Gauss doesn't need a laser to help it aim better. It's barrel does that for you, just need to adjust your camera angle. Striker has a laser because it doesn't have a barrel sticking out the middle of it though it could be a bit more invisible.

Sure shaft gets more area to focus on, but it still has to move up and down manually. Gauss has the auto aim advantage.

Hmm, that Gauss did 472 damage on equal footing against that Mammoth. The Mammoth did not have Defender Drone. The Gauss seemed to have the same reload as Stock. Gauss arcade shot does more than that damage.

Maybe it will become like Smoky with the shots dealing lower damage than Stock arcade shots and the shots having a random chance to land a critical with sniping damage.

I'm not arguing about if Gauss is better than Shaft or vice versa. I'm just arguing that with the damage it does, Shaft doesn't need its laser removed. All things considered, both can top the scoreboards. Shaft might require a bit more effort on average.

Gauss is more accurate and fares better at close range, Shaft fares better at long range. Gauss can at long range as well, but it needs more precision and view of any obstacles blocking the acquisition of your target.

Ran out of reactions.  This is correct, except that I disagree with the "needing more precision and view of any obstacles blocking the acquisition of your target". You can literally sweep through grass and a huge green circle and red box appears.  Just follow that.  You don't lose the target after 2 seconds either, and if there is grass they probably don't see you, meaning they will not move erratically.

Not so sure about this.  Gauss is quite awlward up close - and has self-damage.  The arcade shot for Gauss is very meh.

By close I mean around Ricochet and Towns' range, not melee range. Gauss cna continue moving away from the enemy while acquiring the target. Shaft is stationary and has decreased turret rotation when in sniping mode. At a further range, the Shaft can afford to use sniping mode if there aren't any obstacles for the enemy to hide behind.

Well, in principle yes, the Gauss can try to keep away.  Does not always work in practice.

IMO Shaft arcade shot is as useful as Gauss arcade, or maybe a bit better.

Based on some of our previous discussions, I'm surprised by you for this comment.

Hunter is OP. Just kill it before it gets close. Well, in principle yes, a player can try to kill a hunter before it gets close, does not always work in practice.

In any case. It is an old topic. And I'm happy with the number of nerds hunter has got. Especially the 5 sec loss of drugs, and being able to redrug faster. My main complaints against it are still there... but oh well. Hornet is still an annoying pest, maybe it will get attention sometime too.

Ok but on topic with Gauss.....

Now we have a moving long range hunter that disables drugs. I've faced off against this a few times now. It is a challenge to face a double armour double damage gaus, when on its first shot, it takes out your armour and double damage. So you are a drugless tank facing a powered up gauss.

What is the reduction in damage for gauss with this alt? At least the money aspect will keep the number of players with this alt to a minimum.

We don't know, we don't have the official information yet, surprisingly. People have been hearing 30%, which sounds about right for the damage I see Youtubers doing.

But no reward doing so. These rating, stats and achievement are worthless.

Yeah and a bunch of my achievements have gone missing (about 60-70) but tanki said it is a bug (which means they don't care to fix it).

I have Gauss modules on all my current used accounts except my main. I think I'll just save up for it in case it starts to become really problematic again for me.

I know that it may not be the best move because it might get nerfed, but I really don't think it's gonna get nerfed because I know for a fact that pony tail boy likes to choke on that barrel.

So yeah it'll cost me 108k crystals to get mk6 Gauss module on 50% sale.
