But anyways, I like it, some things like ASL it's not as good at. Perhaps it's just the maps, but I did these battles primarily lock-on, so I'm sure I'll gain some skill. But not bad for the first couple o' battles!

It is very good for the red team in ASL battles. Assuming that it's a map like Serpuhov, Aleksandrovsk, Yorkshire, Industrial Zone, Kungur, Magistral and Barda, a Gauss on the red team can do serious damage and rack up many kills because of its superior splash damage distribution.

It's good that you like it. I prefer to use it with Dictator as well, although it does get annoying when the extra height downplays my already low downward auto-aim. At least with my increased height, I can compensate for my horrible upward auto-aim. Some good games with it:

True, I can imagine it on  Red. My first battle with Gauss was Stadium TDM, and the splash was crazy. I'd snipe a Shaft camping on the top tier of platforms and the splash killed another shaft on a lower tier! Crazy.

And a heads-up when using Gauss. If the player that you locked onto was killed as you finishing locking on, your shot will not deal any damage (most likely because it wasn't rendered on the server). I've had that happen to 3 sniper shots in a row in a Bridges CTF battle and I couldn't help but note it after the second time, but that third time seemed to have just been me being unlucky. The bad thing? Your Gauss has shot it and you're reloading, so essentially, you're disadvantaged if that happens to you.

I'm not sure if this is intentional or not. It doesn't seem intentional since it's almost like having bad ping when attacking or healing with Isida. You can expel all 6 seconds of your energy tank when attacking and you may have only done 7 ticks (which is equivalent to 1 and 3/4 seconds of damage).

Well it makes sense, since the shot isn't instant. If you want, we can meet up to test it. But it's the same as if Striker missiles are flying and the target is killed before they reach it.

They said that the sniping shot is instant, just like Thunder and Smoky's shots. This could be untrue but I remember receiving damage from a Thunder that shot at a tank immediately after it died. Which in this case, for Gauss, isn't how it is.

The thing with Striker is that I still end up doing damage to an enemy who was where the now-stray missile went. I would have said that Gauss still had its great explosion impact force but they fixed it as it was a bug.I don't really receive much impact force from Gauss shot explosions like I used to.

I've had frequent problems of the sniping shot dealing NO damage at longer ranges on completely stationary targets. Not to people nearby, but to the person the shot was aimed at. It's possible they were lagging hard and already dead by the time I'd shot them, but still. It should have infinite range, right?

Tried m1.1 Gauss on @TheWetDiaper and it's a monster in maps with big open spaces. Like striker is.

I still scored pretty bad with it, but only because my skills with the turret are just crap. But I bet someone who's actually skilled with Gauss would dominate in such maps.

Shoul i get gauss m2?

M2 is meh.  You will have to upgrade quickly to make it effective.

Depends, are you skilled with Gauss? If yes, then get it as it is a monster. If no, then I'd suggest getting something with simpler mechanics.

Gauss is gonna be everywhere while people try it out, but then once enough people have decided they don't like it the number will dwindle.

That is if they don't like it. It's a monster in big open areas.

So were Shaft and Magnum when they were introduced. I've said it before and I'll say it again; This one came out already pretty balanced.

So they initially had Gauss' splash damage distribution low. I mean, I don't think we'll know how the splash damage distribution looked since there was a bug that incorrectly calculated the splash damage. I do that wish they would have kept the unintentional strong explosion impact force though.

Gauss' direct damage is alright, but the maximum splash damage radius needs to be decreased to...maybe about 8 metres, or 9. 12 is a wide range.

And to show how great that splash damage radius is, I was originally Mammoth Vulcan but after I died the second time and was respawning, I saw how most of the enemies were pooled on the point. I decided what fun it would be to ruin that and used Gauss. I got 2 quadruple kills and 4 triple kills. Here is one of the quads:

As you have seen with @The_Pakistani's posts, it's great in CP mode, and it is great on the red team in ASL battles.

People say that's it's a hybrid of thunder, striker, and shaft. And I'm starting to think that they're right.

It feels more like a long-rage hammer with a bit more splash. It has the Striker targeting system but without the laser. Shaft is still #1 in pure 1-shot damage. If they removed the laser from Shaft (keeping all turret damage as is), would it decrease the number of Gauss players?

I'd think not, it's so different. But it could reduce the amount of Stock Striker players (if there are any -_-). Shaft is so different. But, I do hope they remove the laser :P

Shaft can't make quad-kills so I doubt it.

Well it's not like quad-kills happen every time you shoot - or even every battle.

Some of those killed during the "quad" were likely already damaged.
