Each turret had different unlock ranks and prices depending on those ranks. Some have wide ranges between the Mks, while others have densely packed Mks for a few of the modifications. Freeze was one of the turrets that received a conversion that had densely packed Mks, specifically at Mk4, 5 and 6. The new parameter statistics were to be spread across 7 modifications instead of 4. When it was 4, Freeze had the smallest increase in statistics from M1 to M2. And then had a big jump from M2 to M3. 

 

The modifications have been spread out, and it is not a perfect spread. You can say it's almost like the old system in the sense that some have big jumps in stats overall, some have small jumps for some Mks then get bigger jumps later one. Magnum and Twins are the ones that are the most evenly spread out. 

 

The Mk-M ratio that you speak of where you said that M2 should = Mk5, treat that like an average. Because of the fluctuations between the Mk statistics, it will not always match up with the ratio. You say that your M2 Freeze (which has low stats for an M2 and puts it at a general disadvantage for the conversion) became Mk3. in order for that to become Mk3, you would have had at most 1 micro-upgrade on your Freeze. If you had 2 micro-upgrades, then it would have been converted to Mk4 2/10. Freeze just happens to be unfortunate enough to have an unfavourable conversion. 

 

As for your Hornet, the same thing applies. Its Mks are densely packed at Mk4, 5 and 6. In order to have gotten Mk4 Hornet, you would have had at most 3 micro-upgrades on your Hornet M2. It is just the way the conversion works, and remember:

Your equipment was not downgraded. Your parameter statistics are the same as they were before the conversion. The only thing that would have changed would be its appearance.

I am fully aware that the developers cut down the XP/BP format accessibility down to Mk7 for the better and higher level gameplay, but I think that Mk6 should be allowed in too.

The thing is, not everyone can afford the Mk7, plus, the skill gap problem would still be cut down by half, considering that only the higher half of m2 players would be able to participate. Would still need the protections, but well... Is there any possible way to keep the format accessible to the lower tiers. Or, if that can't work, why not make an XP/BP training format for lower MK5 and MK6 tankers?

Your suggestion is nice but I guess you will still have to make a separate topic in Ideas and suggestions section of the forum...

The developers haven't specifically announced they're planning a release patch. So as things seem thus far, it's not likely that any current arrangement will be reverted/replaced.

Oh you know, its to make it easier for other people. First clicking R and seeing all the micro upgrades was "complicated" so GS was added. And now GS broke and its now even easier, just have a guess and good luck. I can already see in the future devs will remove all the Mk skins, and make those shop only skins too

This update is not good because now when ur at third lieutentnant you will be able to see an M3 or even an M4 with resistance protection 50% My point is that the game is now off balanced and if this problem is not fixed tanki may lose alot of players.

Because 7 Mk-Level allows tankers to get the next modification in "shorter burst" (if you have the crystals). Unlike M-Level as in previous version, it requires a longer run to get next modification. Alternativa counter-balance the "shorter burst getting equipment" by increasing the price.

mk7 now is exactly the same as m3 before.  Before, I could buy m3 on it's own without buying m0-m2 (shorter burst as you put it).  Buying mk7 now is more expensive than buying m3 was.  They have raised the cost.

Yes, I suppose that is a benefit (that used to be there outside of kits...), but I no longer need them, since they provide low mk kits that cannot even reach mk6 after fully MUing(I have mk7+ gear).
