You can see the game has been in steady decline--in terms of popularity--right? Pretty sure I read something Opex wrote about the natural lifespan of games like tanki and how long they last.

I don't pretend to know the ins and outs of all of tanki's business, but I'm pretty sure (behind the scenes) tanki's costs on maintaining this game have mostly decreased over time (developer's salaries notwithstanding). And that (lets use Hyper's example) 20% are squeezed and squeezed with higher and higher prices for less and less value to maintain profits, switching the game to smaller servers, etc. That's just one or two ways to last 15 years. But I don't actually consider 15 years to be very long in terms of game lifetime.

**I still maintain if it wasn't for COVID, tanki would have naturally died out a while ago and it was only the fact that people were isolating (trapped) in their homes--bored--with nothing to do but go online and game that saved it**

The difference is I don't come here on the forum to moan about it 24/7. The simple solution is to stop playing MM, like I did. Or to just find a new game.

For these few forum regulars it's about complaining for the sake of complaining. I would know because I was guilty of that a few years ago, you can see it if you go through my forum history. But I simply stopped caring.

For the above mentioned it's an eternal grudge match with the devs. Some would call that trolling, whether it is or isn't is debatable.

My criticism of tanki's pursuit of money remains valid, however.

And if you go back far enough in this thread, you'll see this conversation started about imbalanced matchmaking and not money.

Unbalanced MM is a by product of OP augments, buyers, luck (container openings) and the deliberate manipulation of the devs to ensure that MM remains unbalanced.

My solution would not stop the buyers from "buying" their OP status, because buyers as we have seen over the years will continue to spend cash regardless what the devs do.

My solution is that at the very least rank progression is doubled (xp needed to rank) so players stay at a particular rank much longer, therefore ensuring that players come up against other players of similar rank and capabilities. I'm not even sure augments are taken into consideration when making MM teams (we'd need congo in here to tell us if they do). But I've been on a team where only 2 players had hull augments and the other team had 10 augments (out of 12 players). Needless to say, the other team won by a landslide.

We keep on forgetting to include bot algorithms as a factor that can make the game more imbalanced and has nothing to do with player Gear Scores.

So even if the GS appear close, the behavior of the bots influence the games' outcome.

It’s genuinely impressive how every time someone challenges you, the entire conversation magically becomes about “trolling” instead of the actual topic.

Apparently noticing that someone has been running the same script for years now qualifies as deliberate provocation. Good to know. I guess repetition immunity is a thing.

The dictionary screenshot was a nice touch though. Nothing says intellectual confidence like googling a definition mid argument and pretending it settles anything. Meanwhile the original point just quietly floats away untouched.

You keep saying you do not owe me anything and that you are not reading my posts, yet here you are, replying in detail and editing your responses. That is a lot of effort for someone who has emotionally clocked out.

If you still believe your stance holds up, defend it in the present context. If not, just say that. But the constant pivot to “you’re trolling” every time you are pressed is starting to look less like moral clarity and more like muscle memory.

At some point it stops being principled and starts feeling like you just enjoy the ritual.

I've been away after about one year, the game is much worse than it was, and it had already become problematic. I've played four battles and there was NO FUN at all, most battles I could not even stay alive for a few seconds, it was so bad. Missiles arriving from everywhere from tanks that cannot even be seen, explosions, no team play at all (that had been a problem also last time I came back). Battle were a total nonsense of people camping and shooting each other at random.

This game used to be great, I remember funny battles without drugs many years ago. Where team coordinated, we also used the chat for that, it was so cool, sometimes we went on with re-matches between the same teams on the same map for an hour or more. This happened in regular battles, not Pro mode or anything else. All of that is lost for flying tanks, multi-missiles following a tank, drones and all that crap.

Just play Pro battles - all of that still exists there. Matchmaking is a sad joke.

I was just wanting to make a post about how useless reporting is and the fact there is no actual block feature. I had messaged a forum staff member in june and sadly there was just nothing to be done even though theres a good amount of people who are regularly insulting in chat and regularly sabotage games to the point I just leave games and if it keeps happening I stop playing for awhile. I know, I know; the playerbase is dwindling and adding a means for players to filter out people who frankly shouldnt even have internet access would make queuing even slower than it already is for a game where half the team are bots.
