Hello, tankers!

One more huge update is coming with tomorrow’s server restart on February 21st at 02:00 UTC.

Vulcan reforged

In episode 239 of the V-LOG, we told you about our plans for reworking Vulcan. Now, it’s ready to be released, and will be launched in the game tomorrow.

The main technical change is that Vulcan now fires individual projectiles, each travelling individually at a specific speed, and subject to auto aim, range of damage and ricochet effect.

This means that if your opponent is trying to hide behind a shelter, you will be able to shoot the nearest wall and destroy them.

Such fundamental changes in firing mechanics have led to changes in other characteristics for the sake of balance. So, barrel startup time will be decreased, damage will be increased, and damage penalty during overheating will be removed.

Additionally, we’re adding the following effects:

  • sound of hitting a wall or a tank;

  • sound of a ricochet from inclined surface;

  • sound of a projectile flying close to your tank;

  • sound of a hit;

  • Visual fire and smoke while shooting.

Adding visible projectiles for Vulcan also allowed us to create shot effects for this turret.

Alterations for Vulcan

The changes in Vulcan also required changes in its alterations.

This is how they will change:

  • «Reinforced aiming transmission» — Removed turret slowdown penalty while firing

  • «Incendiary band» — Removed damage penalty, added projectile speed penalty. Each projectile heats the tank by 0,07% of maximum overheat temperature.

  • «Shooting speed regulator» — Now decreases firing rate by 15%. Changed startup and slowdown time penalty to 85% instead of  50% and removed time to overheat boost.

New HTML5 garage

The first window that you see when you enter the game is the Garage, and it’s long been overdue for a facelift. And here it is.

Now you can see your combo from any POV. You can even spin your drone, and move your tracks and turret.

Note that the new garage is only available in HTML5. The garage in the Flash and Android version will remain the same.

Other changes in HTML5

On a final note, we have fixed the behaviour of the damage from Striker’s explosion and cleaned out glitches in animated paints. We’ve also improved the readability of rank icons, improved Isida’s effects, and polished the battle creation interface.

Enter the game tomorrow and share your feedback with us on the forum.

Good news: stock Vulcan got a massive buff. The detrimental nerfs that it had are now removed it seems.

Bad news: so did incendiary band.  And shooting speed regulator alteration is now completely useless.

Interesting news: new alteration is added called rubberized rounds.

How do you figure this? Just wanna know. On paper it sounds great, 0.15-second spin-up and spin-down time. The damage decrease sue to the firing rate decrease seems to vary between modifications, but it amounts to about 15% less damage like before.

I guess yeah, but it would mainly be useful up close now since projectiles would fly at Sledgehammer Thunder speed, and the heating rate is lower than what it was before and takes more effort to heat the target.

We'll have to wait and see.

It's time to OH boost got removed. Might not be useless, but sure as Hell will be pointless to buy. The one thing that I thought it was better than stock when it received the two harsh nerfs were that it could shoot longer and that the barrel spin up time was halved.

The barrel spin-up time is decreased by 85% now, and not 50%. Instead of 50% of 2 seconds, it's 15% of 1 second. Theoretically, SSR at M4 would take 1.5 seconds to stop shooting then start again before the change, now after, it would take 0.3 seconds to stop shooting and start back. That's really fast if that's how it's going to be.

Would've been interesting to try out. If it wasn't 140k crystals.

Change for change sake...keep up the churn to keep the dollars rolling in.

A couple of years ago Tanki gut Vulcan into oblivion.  Few players use it anymore because of the horrible nerfings Vulcan took.  It is now the least used turret (kinda hard to believe, but Tanki has the stats) so Tanki over-buffs it so everybody and their dog will be using Vulcan...let the MUs begin....and the protection modules with their MUs...alterations, kits and Tanki is bringing in the cheddar.  After some time elapses, the incoming cash will slow down and Vulcan will be determined to be a "bit too OP" so it will have to be "balanced".  It's the same exact nerf/buff cycle over and over again..the churn

This is one of the very best updates that Tanki Online released. Vulcan is now strong enough to destroy any enemy hull with easy. Vulcan is no longer underpowered like it was before, not too strong. Its power is just right. As for the new Ultra skin, it is very nice and very fine tuned details.

The new animated garage is awesome. I like its ability to rotate drones, turrets and move your tank's tracks on the platform. I would be even better if you could fire turrets in the garage for display when making gifs.

As for bug fixes, thanks for further improve the new HTML5 and bring down the bugs you traced down. One question that I would like to know is; when shall the new HTML5 be complete, and when will the Ares (hover) hull be ready for release?

It bums me out that I'm not longer as useful at long range since I can't hit any moving target from far, but god damn does it decimate up close.

Good thing I have Gauss on same account.

Harder to track them with the slower bullets.  They could speed them up a wee bit me-thinks.

Its efficiency between up close and far away is so vast, feels unstable.

You mean like a steep drop-off with distance?

On the plus side - it did enable me to get 115 kills so far today...
