Garage description:

Medium hull. It hovers above the surface and can pass through any harsh terrain without difficulty. Use its overdrive to shoot a big icicle which can neutralize enemy tanks at large distances.

Second generation hover tank: to create a compact but powerful hull with attacking possibilities, a lot of ingenious solutions were used. Compactness of the second generation anti-grav allowed engineers to equip enough armor to the tank for it to be a medium hull without decreasing its speed. Attacking capabilities are provided by the built-in cannon. To meet the size requirements, instead of a super-powerful weapon, a cryo generator was installed. It makes a shell from almost nothing by cooling moisture and then shoots a big armor-piercing icicle. After being hit by the chunk of ice, the opponent's cannon will be frozen making it easy to finish off the tank, if not destroying it.

Features:

  • It has its own gun, which fires with the activation of the overdrive.

  • The movement speed is inbetween Ares and Hopper. ?  (expected to be close speed to Dictator as seen on the test server - TBC)

  • To improve the stability of the hull, the precision of its missiles, and its handling responsiveness, the engineers gave Crusader a rather slow turning speed.

  • Thanks to its hovering ability, the Crusader will be hard to flip.

  • Medium hull 1500 (Mark 0) to 3300 HP (Mark 7+)

Overdrive features:

  • Meant for the destruction and neutralization of standalone targets at a long range.

  • The projectile fired is made out of a thick layer of ice, and is shaped like an icicle for better aerodynamics.

  • The missile freezes the enemy, deals insane damage and applies an “Armor-Piercing” effect.

Too lazy to type previous comments again, so here some slick copy-paste-skills:

I don't really care too much about this new medium hull. I don't have many problems with the overall design, even though it looks a bit awkward in a way - I do think that a more triangular-like shape would be better but this will do too I guess. Overdrive is decent to be honest, immense impact, good damage and applying cryo-effect to the enemy (I assume you can only hit one). But I do find the concept a bit random and awkward; why is there chosen for another cannon in the hull and why on earth does it fire icicles? Another question that rises is why it also applies the AP-effect to a target. I feel the same with Dictators OD freezing surroundings tanks; why does it have a secondary additional effect which is not needed at all?

I myself never buy items immediately after release; I didn't feel anything special for the other hovering hulls before and after their release, but since I got an XT-skin for Hopper I basically had to buy it - have to say that I quite like it even though it is arguably overpowered.

Cold Immunity and AP Immunity seem to be the only direct defenses.

Let's see how it interacts with other ODs.

IMO Titant's Dome would probably be ineffective like it is ineffective against AT-field and N2-Bomb.
IMO Hunter will be ineffective too.

So these new hulls have powerful overdrives and are like the old hulls except they cant really flip...so what is the downside to them?

Hovering hulls cannot "rock" (like a rocking chair) or "swing" (in parkour terms). So there are limitations when you want to shoot at someone above or below you.

With mouse controls, the hull always turns in the direction you turn your turret. This means your hull turns completely when you simply want to turn your turret. Though you can click and hold the right-click to look around without turning your turret, it's slightly inconvenient.

With keyboard controls, you cannot strafe (the side-ways movement), and the hull drifts a lot. It's difficult to maneuver.

With either of the controls, hovering hulls slide down from slopes. They cannot remain stationary on inclined surfaces.

and they are very weak when pushing other hulls.

hovering hulls can "rock" to aim at enemies slightly above or below. This can be done in the following ways-

To aim slightly above, you need to move backwards. The Hovering Hull's engines push it from the front to the back. So, this maneuver slightly raises it from the front. This is when you can shoot at an enemy slightly above your turret's auto aim cone.

Similarly, to aim at an enemy slightly downwards, you need to go forwards. The hulls engines push it from the back to the front. So, the front goes slightly nearer to the ground as the back goes slightly up in height. This is when you make the shot at an enemy below.

Yeah they do "rock", but the rocking isn't as pronounced as in the case of normal hulls. Plus, it's very difficult...

Nice, I wonder if the hull would be able to stick to walls like Hopper..

What do you mean?

when the good old flash give you the data you want in one go! (from test server)

Damage change, not sure how it works, max i have seen is 6300 (on Juggernaut) and it can go through several tanks. You can get self-damage.

I am not really happy with the way Crusader looks like. It looks more like a light hull rather than a medium hull..

So, this is the first hull that cannot have it's overdrive disabled by Hunter.

Besides Juggernaut of course. But that doesn't count as a real hull.

And honestly, I don't consider Hover Hulls to be real hulls either, but here we are.

I haven't come across any Crusaders in battle yet... Luck seems to have deserted most tankers...

I came across a couple lol. I can't say if it's overpowered or not because they were always on my team XD

AGREED!

I don't know if it's just me, but the only reason why it's as wide as a medium hull is because of the two turbine things sticking out from the sides.

Remove them, and Crusader looks to be only slightly larger than Hornet.

Crusader is finally available for crystals in the Garage!!

Mk1 costs 150 crystals, Mk2 costs 6k crystals. So it's pretty cheap if you want to quickly upgrade it to try it out in battle, and still have a decent hull.

Playing with Crusader is fun, not gonna lie. The OD is very satisfying when it finds its target. If you play in a group, you can easily help a friend to get more kills - tell your friend that your OD is ready, aim at a crowded Titan dome, and shoot your Crusader Overdrive. The enemies will get the Freezing status effect and their armor will get pierced. So if your friend has Gauss, the massacre will last hardly a second.

You're enemies will be dead before they have a chance to react. I mean seriously, have they even tried to balance this hull out!

1. Damage. 1500(MK1) - 3000(MK7+) That's bye bye to any moderately damaged light or medium hull outright. This is fully upgraded, fully charged sniper levels of damge! are they going to bring out a Crusader protection module just for this!

2. Freeze and armour piercing. As if these are even necessary, if a tank isn't killed outright, this makes it difficult to even attempt to fight back or run. It seems to only have been added so you have time to get round to any tanks frozen around it.

The way i feel OD's in Tanki should create interesting situations, that facilitate a different solution to what may have been a straight out brawl. However a different solution should not be to simply steamroll the competition and carry on with your day.

On top of this, this hull has several advantages that most of the hovering hulls share:

A small profile (mentioned here and very significant for shaft users, which ironically about as close as i want to get to this hull).

Nearly impossible to flip (no small thing on some maps for tracked users).

I can think of Juggernaut, Siege, Assault, Rugby and Capture the Flag modes being seriously affected by even 1 of these hulls being present, and with the charge time on the OD being at most 2 minutes, its not like it has to use the ability sparingly. No other hull gives the same potential to dominate matches like this does.

I dont like Hopper, but at least its overdrive is interesting, this is just brutish and overpowered. I expect this hull to continue to frustrate matches rather than bring anything interesting to them.

Ok, not such a serious question, but I just wanted to know in case someone had an answer.

Why is Crusader so small? Hopper is almost as big as it. Crusader is already like weakest hull in the game, but they didn't have to make it look so underwhelming. Extra facts, it is as fast as Dictator, and Dictator is carrying some big meat.

I think it would be great if the hull's OD got a buff. Not like a large damage increase, but the radius for AP and freeze to be applied (so maybe just these 2, not a damage radius buff) because right now I feel the OD is only useful for killing a tank. Tanks have to be right next to each other for you to ap and freeze them which is certainly not ideal.

Other than that, I love the hull. I had no plans to upgrade it, but I got heat immunity, stun immunity and the XT skin so I decided to. Awesome decision.

Unlike the others hull, Crusader was devised for Buyers only, as the overdrive strength is tight to the strength of the players: crusader Mark, drone, supplies and augments. So if you are a weak player (aka F2P) you will never achieve its full potential.
