update Hornet HD

Hello, tankers!

 

Do you remember when we told you that we had started to remaster graphics in the game?

 

Decreasing the number of “default” skins to one and adding Ultra skins were the first steps.

It’s time for the next step, the one you all were waiting for: updating the default skins!

 

Tomorrow on December the 25th, not only will the season’s festive celebrations start in the game but the new, the first, HD skin for Hornet will be released as well!

 

You need not buy it nor try your luck with containers. The new HD skin will simply replace the current default M3 skin and will be the default skin for Hornet.

That’s cool, isn’t it?

We are already working hard on other HD skins that will eventually replace the current default skins for all other pieces of equipment.

 

Which one would you like to get next?

Ultra Skins, which already have high-def textures are already optimized / in the game, so it won't be affecting your FPS

Here's the thing....I really want a Hunter HD skin....BUT....Hunter already has XT, Prime, and Ultra Skins.


While hulls like Wasp and Dictator only have the M3 and XT skins.


So in conclusion, to be fair to all the hulls, I think the developers and designers should work on Wasp and Dictator HD next.

Just as we thought that we got rid of the Hornet flux, a second wave will be approaching us upcoming days...

Just kidding. The new model looks truly amazing. I expected to see a graphics/visuals update for a very long time and it finally landed. It is no surprise for me that Hornet has been chosen as the first skin to be updated, even though I hoped Shaft would have caught the attention too :P. I hope that the other renewed models will be released soon as well!

 

EDIT/added: I am actually curious how paints will appear on these remastered models, I expect them to look like their appearance on ultra skins but let's wait until tomorrow shall we?

Not an official answer, but it can be assumed that all skins will get updated. XT and Legacy skins likely get a remaster to match the new graphics. I have no idea how this update will affect Prime-skins, as they already exists a 3D-ish model of them which is the Ultra-series

Legacy skin will not be remastered because there is no point in remastering them, because then it will no longer be “legacy”.

I think Prime skins will be removed, and as a compensation for all Prime skin owners it will recive ultra skin for free. (because ultra skins are remasterd prime skins)

I agree on your assumption on Prime-skins, it sounds like the most logical option. 

I do not think that Legacy skins will remain the same. It is true that it removes the 'legacy' aspect of the series, but it would look incredibly odd if those skins appear as 2D when all other graphics have been remastered. Honestly, they could just slightly update them, a bit more depth and details, but nothing game-breaking
