12 minutes battle duration

Hello, tankers!

 

We continue the research on the optimal battle duration. 

 

Starting from 2 AM UTC September 10 till 2 AM UTC September 20, matchmaking battles will last 12 minutes. 

 

We want to find out the most comfortable battle duration for you. Thus, your comments and feedback are much appreciated.

Good job. This is twice the usual amount of battle time; could we at least get double funds? It will be so kind of you! I hope you decide on a default timing soon. Good luck @Opex-Rah and the rest of the developers!

However I'd say, 10 minutes is enough. Let's see, ten minus seven is three; three minutes more. Enough for two more wasp bombs to load and activate. That, my dear developer, is the perfect amount of time; not too long

I really enjoyed the 15 minute battles we had not that long ago, 12 minutes sounds good as well.

Good idea. 

Why? Because many players doesn't have good garage item's and battle duration will give them time, to complete missions, earn crystals and experience.

@At_Shin I totally agree. Since there's more time to plan out your moves, the battle could really progress in an interesting way. Hoping to see a double requirement to finish a battle: for example 200 enemies to kill for team deathmatch and defense assault; 14 goals for rugby; 12 flags for capture the flag and so on.

Increase battle duration ? Well, why don't you increase the stars rewards ? 7 minutes battles = 3 stars if first place. 12 minutes, still 3 stars ? We should have 4-5 stars rewards.

So 12 minutes = almost 2 normal battles (7 minutes). But, still only 3 stars ? Increase rewards to 4-5 stars.

you should turn this into a vote system then you can tell how many want 12 minutes /10 / 7 / or 20. some players have nothing to say cause others have said the same thing..

sorry I'm just rambling at my old age..lol

12 minutes is OK, although personally I think 10 minutes would be best - offers enough time for comebacks and more strategy, but also not too long if you get put in a match you don't want to be in, and also doesn't make missions that much harder to complete. The match time that offers the best balance IMO - 10 minutes was also the battle length when MM was first introduced, and it seemed like a good time.

 

I think many players have also said they like 10 minute battles.

I agree, a poll would be good. Although some players have more logic behind their decision making than others, so I think posts are still the most useful as we can see why players want a certain time, as well as what they want - and if they've thought it through properly.

Agreed, with longer battles stars should be increased. Although really, stars from battles dont matter that much any more since challenges are back down to 3000 stars. What is MOST important is that requirements for "finish top 3" and "finish battles" daily and weekly missions are reduced if battles are made longer - as OBVIOUSLY those missions will take much longer to complete - how MUCH longer depends on how much longer battles are made.

The only possibility for that is that with longer battles, players are more likely to quit a match if they are in a weak team - as they might ensure 7 (5 with load time) minutes of being owned, but they wouldn't be wiling to ensure 20 (18) minutes for instance, if battles were made that long. If a team goes 2-0 up while the enemies are loading in CTF, that is hard to come back from in a 7 minute match, but possible in 10 minutes. But battles can't be made too long, as then with the current matchmaking and mission system we run into other problem which are worse than unbalanced battles - such as being forced into games you don't like for too long, and missions becoming very hard to complete. So it is a difficult balance to strike - and that's why I think 10 minutes is best, giving the best of all worlds.

 

As for longer battles giving closer ranks and GS spread however - there is no reason why it would. You can only achieve that by 1) having more players, 2)making queue times longer (or, 3)reducing the number of modes - but that would reduce variety which would be boring).

sir I hear your opinion , you also have to take into consideration that a lot of players are in school and would like to comment but have limited time or space on cell phones.

I can say the same as to why you think shorter battles would be better.

 

Longer battles means Fewer battles taking place at once. Fewer battles taking place at once means less time wasted in trying to que especially in a specific gamemode,  when MM has too many battles to choose from it takes longer for it to decide where to put you, and the results are often quite disappointing and you end up leaving. Fewer battles means a higher chance of slots filling up when people start leaving. Fewer battles also mean a higher chance of tighter rank and GS gaps. And because of that, longer battles essentially mean more balanced battles.

Guys, there is a new hull available in the test server, it is called Paladin and it is a medium hovering hull, will this hull comes tomorrow along with 12 minute battles?

This hull looks so weird xD i think its OD would be better if at the top of the tank and at the 2 extremities, 2 mini guns comes out and shoot on all nearby ennemies, making it a death machine, it is designed to do these kind of things

Longer battles were good back when there were no ODs, Drones, status effects and all those stuffs that boost the stat to sky high.  Tanks get destroyed so quickly now.  It would be a punishment to stay in a one-sided battle.
