Using by F2P collection of tankoins from weekly containers and finishing the monthly challengers, I finally amassed 1500 and bought the 100 coin box "deal". What type of crap did I get and how much did it cost me? did I just stupidly throw precious TC away because I am a bozo? Lets find out

I'll start out by saying I recouped 1,265 tankoins, which means the following loot only cost me a gross of 235 Tankoins.

74000 crystals

240 mines

240 speed boosts

240 Boosted Armor

120 Boosted Damage

150 Repair Kits

75 batteries

In case you are wondering what the shop prices of that haul would be: 22500◊ in RK, 12000◊ in SB, Mines, and Armor, 6000◊ Boosted Damage, 22500◊ in batteries. The total of those drug purchase (non discounted) is 87,000◊. The equivalent crystal value of these 100 boxes is thus 161,000◊

Excluding weekly containers I will able to do this again at the end of October., and keep it up every couple of months. I suppose it would be a much better deal to wait for 3000 TC and buy the Properly Massive Quantity but I don't have that much patience.

I do have a video of the opening (currently as a livestream), if you wish to watch it for yourself and keep your own count.

You should never buy large amounts of coinboxes unless you're intentionally going for the 100,000 tankoin reward. It is quite obvious from the reward scatter of the coinboxes that you are set up to fail and make a loss, until you can no longer buy any. The more Tankoins you get, the more chances you have for the top prize. This obviously means the top prize has an extremely low chance of occuring. If you manage to pull 100,000 tankoins, you instantly get 6,666 chances to pull another 100,000. This doesn't take into account the additional chances you'll get from the Tankoins you'll be pulling from different rarities from those 6,666 chances.

And you are lucky. Within each tier of rewards besides Exotic, it is possible to get crystals instead of Tankoins.

Coinboxes generally are not worth it. A f2p who has nothing else to spend their Tankoins on (thanks to the increased battle pass price) can gamble with 10 of them every three weeks. Anything in between, you're set up to fail.

Agreed with the replies so far - if you think coinboxes are a good investment then you are mistaken. It is very likely that if you invest in them, you will end up with less Tankoins than you started with, and quite a low amount of crystals and supplies in return.

Anyway, in relation to your rewards - do you know that if these are the average rewards from 100 coinboxes, that you have just proven that they are a bad investment? Even if you are looking for crystals and supplies.

The battle pass has recently been reduced to 1,000 tankoins in price - and it still gives 400 tankoins back from the gold tier. That means that if you complete the challenge, the cost of the battle pass is only 600 tankoins. Your "gross" cost from buying these coinboxes was 235 tankoins - so lets very roughly say that was 1/3 of a battle pass and multiply your rewards by 3 to compare them to the battle pass rewards.

The number of crystals and supplies you would gain from the battle pass is at least 3 times what you gained here (when taking into account the likely rewards from the containers), as well as also gaining valuable augments - including highly valuable and hard to obtain Ultra Container augments. Therefore 600 tankoins spent on the battle pass is much better than 600 on coinboxes. Not to mention, that aside from the container rewards you have some guarantee of what you are getting from the pass - whereas with coinboxes it is highly random, and you could end up with trash.

Agreed with this. Coinboxes are probably about the purest form of gambling in the game. They give out the same currency that you purchase them with (tankoins), and are set up so that you are likely to end up with less than you paid for them, with a small chance for big wins. So all in all it is almost dangerous to get too focused on them, lol.

I agree, Idk about any other players but oh boy coin boxes are not friendly to me any time I buy it.

However, miracles do happen, you open 1 coin box and get 500 tankoins at once. Easy investment

1 coin box 500 tankoins, every other millennium.

Biggest rip off the devs have ever pulled on players, amongst the various others over the years.

@TheCongoSpider @DestrotankAI9 I agree. Coin boxes for the most part are pretty much a scam. Its like doing $100 worth of work for someone and being paid only a penny in return.

If you really wanted 100k TKs, you would literally save more just by spending the $1000 needed plus the $20 to $30 fee if you're using the Google play system.

And sure, coin boxes do give you crystals and supplies, but so do the GCs, BCs, and UCs.

Don;t worry I'm not a military veteran or a juvenile. If I have the patience to wait 8 months to accumulate this much I think I'm going to be alright.

Same, I'm loaded on everything except RK and batteries, I frequently run out of them.

OMFG I wish I had known this. I thought battle pass was only for sale for IRL currency, I've been playing to many Wargaming products. Does anyone know, if I buy the pass after completing all the levels do I get the rewards?

I know this probably belongs at the topic on the current battle pass, if and where that exists, but is buying the current pass worth it? Not really interested in any of the augments, I don't use mammoth hornet or crusader

Oh yes, if you click on the challenge in game, you should see a "buy battle pass" button on the bottom left, which will take you to a screen where you can buy it for 1000 tankoins. With 400 returned from the gold tier, the battle pass is now great value. About the best it has ever been actually - as long as you can afford the 1000 up front.

Yes, if you buy the pass at any stage of the month, you get all the rewards from each tier you have finished.

I don't personally think the current augments are amazing, but if you are wanting crystals and tankoins with a few extras then the battle pass is your best option as a free player, in terms of value for your tankoins.

Personally however, if you are a free player I would wait until you find a pass with augments (especially the available Ultra Container augments) which you actually want. If one comes along that has augments that you do want, you would be pretty disappointed if you had already spent all your tankoins on a pass with augments that you didn't want.

Buying coinboxes is only worth it on account which you almost never play - in the hope of possibly getting a big win with 10 coinboxes - when you couldn't possibly use your tankoins for anything else. Or possibly, trying you luck with a small amount very rarely. But the chances are you will lose tankoins, for little gain, every time you buy them. So I would generally try to avoid them and go for battle passes/special offers instead as a free player - or save for the fourth module if you are really patient, and can do contests/events.

Hey hey hey... it's already pretty good you know. Tho you shouldn't have splurge all your tankoins on it xD. Next time buy the protection slots.

I really dislike coinboxes, your chance to get more tankoins than you spend is very low. Buying UC is much better as you can get skins, augments etc.

Buying coinboxes, might as well be the worst way to spend your tankoins. ?‍♂️ Well I don't really know about UCs either. Right now, the best thing is to save tankoins up and buy 4th module slot.

I’ve opened thousands and thousands of these coinboxes and they are honestly the biggest rip off ever. Sounds like you got lucky.
As per the above comments, I would strongly suggest not going down the route of relying on these for anything.
Like any form of gambling, you only hear about the wins and never the loses.

When coinboxes first came out they were good value for the cash spent on them. The rewards were decent and you had a good chance of gaining a lot of crystals, supplies, even if you did not get many tankoins back.

The devs decided to decrease the supply/crystals you could gain and also the chances of getting the big tankoin pay outs.

The scamboxes as they are rightly now named yield very low rewards, usually if you open 30 you can GAURANTEE that at least 10 and more often than not 15 of them are 1 tankoin.

Everyone is raving about the devs lowering the battlepass to 700 tankoins, yet the devs still continue to rip you off with their sky high shop prices, useless UC and the worthless scamboxes that require even more cash to obtain due to the increased shop prices.

TO is no longer a affordable are enjoyable game due to the constant changes that the devs bring in that always cost a small fortune to obtain.

Go to the paint section in your garage and look at some of the tankoin prices you have to pay for mundane and useless paints that do nothing at all to enhance your chances in battle.

Scamboxes like most things in TO are designed to get your cash as often as possible, for as little reward as possible.

Even the mods think they are a rip off and that should tell you everything you need to no about these useless containers that cost a fortune to buy.
