Wow, the Gauss augments are really embarrassingly weak.

So I am a die hard Gauss user ever since I restarted playing this game a few months ago ( I hadn't played for a few years). And this month's challenge had Armor-piercing augment for Gauss so I used up all the tankoins and got myself battlepass since it was in the Gold tier. I just unlocked it and wow...... it is really bad.

Like, it only does the armor piercing from the sniping mode. Like what the heck? When smoky, twins, or ricochet uses it against me it deals the armor-piercing every single time! Or the EMP from smoky and twins, EVERY single shot takes away all my supplies, but from Gauss, only in sniping mode! Why?? And there's the overpowered Striker's many many augments, and the one I've seen lately is the one that stuns you with EVERY single shot! Like Gauss doesn't even have that many augments to begin with, in the garage the only augment for Gauss has is the adrenalin which all turrets get.  And the only other 2 it gets from containers/challenges, armor-piercing and EMP, is only dealt on sniping mode?

I don't think this augment is weak at all, it all comes down to the way you use it and what you combine it with.

  • Hull & Overdrive: For starters, you should pick the right hull. In this case I would highly recommend you to use Dictator or Hornet. Both overdrives charge quickly and the supercharge effect is extemely useful with Gauss. 
  • Drone: My personal favourite drone to go with Gauss is Booster. The extra damage (especially in the sniping mode) makes it so much fun to use.

From my point of view, Gauss is not the best for "head-to-head" fights. Personally I would make my way to one of the corners of the enemy base and start sniping them from there. I'd always use sniping mode for enemies who either have protection against Gauss or Defender/Crisis. But of course, it might change depending on the situation. 

Even so, I do agree that some status effect augments are easier to apply, like the above-mentioned augments in your post.

How to not use status gauss: Camping with it.

How to use it annoyingly: Use engineer or mechanic drone well equipping  owl module and a medium hull like crusader and rush in with it with charged shots and arcading at short to melee range. 

This is my personal strategy to use status gauss and my personal combo I use if I feel like  going try hard

Thank you for your input. I definitely am not saying Gauss is a bad turret, it's still the best in my opinion and my favorite to use. I am just saying I feel like it's unfair that Smoky hits me and with every shot takes away all my supplies or Striker hits me and stuns me every time and I have to stop every 5 seconds, whereas my Gauss only deals the effects on sniping mode. I mean I know fairness isn't really a developers goal, but I am just wondering why they chose not to give Gauss the same treatment. 

And yes, I just got the Booster drone recently during the Iron day sales (us non-buyers got to be frugal), but I am still using my Brutus drone because it's maxed out whereas Booster isn't. My Brutus gives me 100% increase in damage supply effect, whereas the Booster currently gives me 57.5% increase in damage supply effect and 17.2% bonus damage.. so

57.5 + 17.2, = 74.7, that's how it works right? So it makes more sense to just use Brutus currently.

You're right. They ARE embarrassingly weak, and have been ever since they nerfed the range of status application and nerfed Gauss' sniping and arcade damage. I suggest we remove the sniping damage penalty entirely. That should bring it up to standard with the god tier augment that is called Adrenaline Gauss.

Bro, smoky only applies status effect on critical hits, not every shot.

This AP augment is good against titan user, if they dont use AP immunity. Otherwise, you should use  ap augment as a substitute of EMP gauss (if you had it). Try it with maxed booster (when you'll max it) and with paladin or crusader. One shot you give the AP, then next 2 shot you give arcade shots to finish them off. Thats how you should use it. Also, do not camp with it. 

Gauss isn't as good as it used to be but it's still a potent turret. I would rate it 16/20 if freeze and striker are 20/20.

That's what I thought too, but it seems as though it gets me with every shot. So maybe not give critical hit with every shot ?

Bruh what the hell are you talking about? Buff gauss?! Are you out of your mind?

Gauss needs nerf of AP and EMP duration to 3 secs, double critical damage shots removed. It shots 1.50 sec  arcade while thunder 2.30 sec with weak damage. 

Buff thunders reload to be like gausss and strikers (1.50 or max 1.70 sec reload ) and then it would be fair.

I can't say much for adrenaline, even it packs a punch if the user is at mid-health, but I believe that Gauss AP along with EMP are quite overpowered.

I thought maybe Gauss' auto-aiming mechanism could be canceled, because it was always easy to be blocked by teammates or other enemies and needed to be re-aimed. Or, extend the time after aiming a little longer? Thanks for your understanding.?

I agree the lock on mechanism isn't perfect, but other than that, Gauss AP/EMP are plenty strong, definitely don't warrant a buff.

Gauss augments especially EMP used to be extremely OP for a long time, and even the turret itself was very OP. I think the current nerf for them is well deserved, and EMP Gauss is still OP.

Ap is more a supporting role, it helps your team to break into a group of OP tanks,

pair with teammates with emp augment guns, it give enemy no way to defend, as either they ap immu or emp immu.

1 vs 1, Ap gauss is not that good closeup, gauss is far range gun anyway. It helps teammates break into seige point or rgb point or ctf defense, or force enemy use ap immu and provide stun / emp teammates free to fire,

as you can time your GROUP salvo with your team move in from far away, while NO other AP augment can support like that far and that many, (hornet OD used to be able to from far)
