Well, at least it's fairer this way - without this update, Gauss would definitely be the worst choice among all long range turrets, with Scorpion in the mix. Now it's more in line with the bursty options that other turrets now have. Sure, Gauss is available to everyone, but things like Helios and Hyperspeed Shells are far more lethal.

I don't know bro, I just played a game and in my opinion the servers are in one of the worst states in the 11 years I have been playing.

The servers are still in a ridiculously bad state. Good that they managed to survive all those DDoS attacks, but there's still lots of work to be done regarding stability.

Feels like servers are still going through problems, they are just choosing not to announce it.

If you can't beat em, join em. If everything's gonna have burst damage, at least everything's gonna have burst damage.

Lets hope it's just a phase though. Cuz balance is constantly fluid amirite?

Yup, this was a calm battle and balanced battle. Half of the enemy team definitely wasn't frustrated at me popping out behind a corner and instantly one-shotting them with Gauss. My entire team definitely wasn't frustrated at having a Thunder one-shot them across the map with no reduction in firing rate. My entire team definitely weren't frustrated by two Gausses popping out and one-shotting them.

Yeah, I think you're right.  I don't play enough to see the servers lagging consistently.  I noticed in some of the new "tips" that appear during the loading pages in-game...there's one that says something to the effect of, "unfortunately, the developers can't do anything to fix your unstable internet connection". ? What a terrible way to address the problem - blame our internet connection.
