Advice for new players: In order to enjoy Tanki, you have to know your enemy

In every situation in life, Tanki Online being no exception, the fundamental condition for success and enjoyment is to know your enemy.

An obvious idea for your enemy in Tanki is the players of the opposite team. But they are not your enemy, they are just your competition. They compete with you under a set of rules which are equal for both of you. Consider them with chivalry (even if they are low lives who use hovering hulls with mouse controls).

Some claim that the developers were your enemy, for framing a game that would give an advantage to players who spend ever more money on the game. However, developers in their work just follow the rules of a capitalist economy, and if you work on your skills build your garage smartly, you will always be fine.

A philosophical and Buddhist perspective would be that you yourself are your enemy, for your emotions tormenting you in gameplay. While this is a valuable perspective, it does not apply to a game, as the point of playing is to dramatically experience yourself and your emotions in a safe and non-serious setting.

Some say that your enemy in Tanki were cheaters and "mults". Do not listen to them. Since the introduction of the Matchmaking system, "multing" has disappeared as an issue on Tanki, and cheating is almost non-existing, the hyperactive anti-cheat-system is much more of a nuisance than actual cheating.

So if all those are not your enemy, who actually is?

You will learn that teammates without a real life driving licence are your enemy. Teammates who never got educated against reckless driving are your enemy. Teammates who never learned to give consideration to acting in concert are your enemy. When they recklessly ram your tank (in particular while you are aiming), recklessly shoot their weapon without aim and purpose while hitting teammates, recklessly block narrow pathways, recklessly drive into your line of fire, then you will eventually recognize that it is them who is your true enemy. You will learn to hate and to curse them.

I almost agree with the whole thing, except the last part.

You don't know why teammates aren't meeting your expectations. Yes, they could just be careless and ignorant, but they could also just be young children, or really casual gamers (the kind with keyboard in one hand, sandwich in another), or hell - even people with genuine disabilities, which don't allow them to be on the same level as everyone else.

That's the reality of a casual game like Tanki Online, and we just have to live with it.

This in particular is laughably wrong.

it is not though? I was f2p until like Legend 3 and i had 5k gs at field marshal because i was waiting for sales i was using mk5 gauss (no augment) and viking (no augment) and i was getting TOP 3 almost every time against legends. If you play smart you won't be Free 40 XP to anothers. The problem is that people rank way too fast so a guy who played for like 10 hours has to face legend rank with hyperspeed thunder ofc the new guy is going to lose because he probably has no idea why he's getting oneshotted in the first place!

ITS easy ok !

For me, hovering hulls are easier to control than tracked hulls in mobile.

People don’t rank way too fast, they inevitably rank way too fast. That’s the way the system is by design.
