I played against you in the special DM mode in Highland yesterday! You were using Hammer and Mammoth - interesting combo.

Yeah I know! I recognized you! I wanted to say hi, but chat is disabled. ?

I've been using Hammer cause I have the Jam Shot augment. I try to shoot 3 people with their ODs available when the gold's dropping so they can't use them hehehe. Not the greatest combo cause I often get caught when reloading my clip, but the OD is great for gold hunting ?

I don't think you should ever MU MK1-MK6 equipment.  You rank up too fast and the differences are so trivial.  You are much better saving crystals for next MK upgrade.

It is a lot of fun once you get the hang of dealing with hopper's current lack of stability.  I like it with hunter and stun alts.  Generally have been having a lot more trouble using Striker Cyclone in TJR of late with how quick jug's rocket lock on is.  You really need to really catch the jug distracted.

When Firebird is used with hornet's oeverdrive, it is less efficient than freeze. Whereas freeze gets to destroy the juggernaut in less than 8 seconds if used with booster drone, and hornet's overdrive. Anyways, I have mk6 firebird, and im thinking if I should purchase Firebird mk7?

Firebird has no Critical damage, so it doe not pair as well with hornet or dictator as freeze does. Therefore it is better to use it with other hulls.

Otherwise it is a great turret.

I believe you should go for Freeze, it is a lot more powerful than Firebird in the current gameplay mechanics with comparatively high crit ratio and better performing abilities, with the new and improved Freezing effect, you disable the upcoming boosted damage effects, and freeze has some high-end crystal as well as rare augments.

In my opinion, firebird now is kinda stiff. You get such a quick ammunition consume speed, it just doesn't feel right. Unless pairing it with compact fuel tanks which I think gives you max burning with a little shot.

I'm struggling with close range combat; I get caught reloading my Hammer M7 often. I could a) buy a melee turret, or b) buy either High Cap or Adaptive Reload augment. 

a) Freeze or Tesla? I have Freeze AP & Tesla Adrenaline. I'm leaning more towards Freeze as AP to disable protection and freezing effect to disable DD is a wombo combo. Dunno if either are good with Dictator and Mammoth though. I'm F2P, so choosing this option is more costly as I'd need to MU it. 

b) I think Adaptive Reload is more promising than High Cap, but I'd like to hear your opinion. Choosing this option is the cheaper solution. 

Also do you think I should buy Rail & Hyperspace? Do you think it'll get nerfed? I've got a supportive loadout; I've been basically following allies so I think it'd be a good match with my playstyle -- plus I don't have a long range turret yet.

I use Adaptive Reload on Hammer and it is pretty damn good, especially in DM gold events where everyone is using light hulls such as Hopper. In my experience AR is much better than High Cap.

I think Freeze AP >> Adrenaline Tesla. But use Hornet or Dictator for the free crits with supercharge.

Regarding Rail Hyperspace, it’s quite niche but can be strong in modes like Siege or Rugby where there are lots of tanks grouped together. I also find it’s pretty useless on non-flat terrain so there’s that to consider as well.

Yeah I knew that, but I was thinking for CP/Siege/ASL and sometimes RUG when I need to be more aggressive for the objective and getting into close encounters with multiple enemies. I know Hornet's OD is very powerful, and I just unboxed EMP immunity for it, and it works well with Freeze/Hammer/Striker, but of the light hulls, it's my least favorite to drive... It's still a consideration for purchase though. As F2P, supercharge is my pocket Booster drone.

Though, I was highly considering buying Cyclone for my Striker which could fulfill a similar purpose with its splash damage... Wasp is always a decent alternative to Hornet, arguably even better with its fast charging OD.

If you want a pretty underrated but powerful combo you should learn to use Remote Rocket Explosives Striker + Dictator, like this pro player does starting at about 21 minutes:

After multiple games with Hyperspace on Test Server, I've come to the conclusion that it's just incredibly difficult in practice to use its penetration to warrant a purchase. Hammer AR was very strong -- reload nerf is noticeable, but not a problem.

and to make it hyper hard, all have 50% which make it like a rubber gun. otherwise it's still not UP

In my opinion, buying high cap augment is really good choice. It's always better to have 5 shots, than 3 especially when you face strong opponents in the battlefield. 
Freeze AP is way better than tesla, let's be honest, playing without augment in today's matchmaking is really hard challenge. I'd suggest you to use it with dictator. In the majority of the battles, you can benefit way better from dictator's overdrive than from mammoth's one. 
If you have good aim, then feel free to buy a railgun, same goes to the augment. But keep in mind that this augment is good only in Siege mode.

M7+  Hammer /w max Brutus & DD vs medium hull /w 50% prot & max any drone takes 5.5 shots if I calculated correctly, meaning I'll need help no matter which I choose. Wouldn't it be better to theoretically avoid reloading my clip entirely than have 2 more shots in a clip if reloading my clip is getting me killed? Interesting debate... Hmmm...

I frequently alternate between the 2 augments. There are situations where HCAC is better. There are situations where AR is better. I won't be able to advise which one to choose if you can only buy one. Play with Stock Hammer and see from your experiences which one you'd find more value with. I usually start with AR and changed to HCAC if needed, but sometimes it's the opposite.
