Some people prefer Mammoth, others like Titan - no hull is directly better than the other. Generally, Mammoth's overdrive is more offense-focused while Titan's OD is best fit for defense. It's up to your preference which of the two hulls you like the most. I suggest to try out the test-server. 

Personally, Mammoth works best for me. I have had this hull since the WO-ranks and it helped me out with sniping and other jobs a lot. 

 

I am not quite familiar with the new Thunder, so I won't recommend you anything concerning the turret

Yeah, the Thunder after it recceived projectile speed etc., its augments incl. Sledgehammer. I used to play with it from WO2 to Captain, approximately. I never used any augments and it was a long time ago, so I have little to no knowledge about Thunder. 

I forgot when Thunder had received this update, I have the feeling it was some months ago but it's probably somewhat longer than that, haha

It can be very good if there are 2-3 enemies with thunder modules. Any more than that and you will struggle to get kills and rely almost entirely on passive point accumulation. At your rank, it should be great. 

Tbh, if I were you I'd focus on maybe saving up for a Mk6 kit as your garage seems pretty underdeveloped for your rank.

Ok, so I recently ranked to Legend, and have collected a relatively large amount of crystals. This has prompted me to take a step back and look at my garage as a whole.
When I was a lower rank (and before certain updates pertinent to some of my equipment) my idea of what equipment would be the best investment was pretty different from what it is now.

Here is my current garage and plan:

Plan:

I don't plan to buy any more turrets, hulls, or drones. I want to get protections to mk7 for Vulcan and Magnum.
Hopefully through challenges I will be able to get immunities for my hulls. Otherwise, the rest of upgrades are just
going to be on turrets and hulls. I will try to MU the hulls to max on sales (without speedups), and make my Fire,
Rico, Smoky, and Shaft all M4 on sales. Isida will stay at Mk7-1 (seems like a bad investment), and Hammer and Thunder will both go to
Mk7-15. Drones won't be upgraded and used infrequently. Supplies will be rationed. Protections will only be upgraded to 36% for now.

 

The two things I would like to know from everyone is:

a) How well have I managed my garage and crystals? What can I do better?

b) What items are worth investing in for the future? What items will allow me to play sustainably without ever spending money on the game?

Always try to get as many maxed out mk7 protections as you can, stick to two hulls and two turrets, try max them out. deff try max out your fav drone. at legend rank if you want to do reasonably well in battles your gonna need more supplies, deff more batteries. In my opinion you have ranked to quick as your protections for legend battles are weak. by legend rank you need all mk7 with at least 45 on everyone possibly 50 on 4/5 of them.you cry wont last you 2 mins even if you upgrade wisely.

All protections between 41 / 49....turrets all over half way....hulls maxed out....drone maxed out. No way i would go up against legends with this garage and expect to get top 3. This is one of several reasons why i stopped playing this account...it's to weak and with these boosted funds i would be legend in no time, just not gonna happen.

You rank to quick you get slaughtered at legend rank. BAD IDEA.

If you are not at Legend but have access to MK7s, you should only fight "new Legends" (i.e. Legend 1 or even 2 max). I think that would be a fair bracket for non-Legends and newly acquired Legends alike.

I'm not sure what I should have done to rank slower exactly, I haven't been a victim of this 3x exp 2x crystal deal going on lately. The ranks I've done during that time have only been Generalissimo and Legend, but those didn't even change my battle matchups at all (I've been playing with Legends exclusively for a long time). I will definitely try to get upgrades on my protections. Do you think that it's worth it to actually max them or only go as far as is economically sensible? With the turret MUs for example it appears that the ROI really starts to go down after about the 15th upgrade (the last 5 cost as much as the first 15 roughly).

It's pretty sad how expensive the protections have gotten with having to buy mk1-mk7 and all, it was so nice to be able to get them for 125k flat before on sale...

I am willing to just grind missions for supplies, but I think it isn't worth it to upgrade a drone sinking as much as 1 million cry into it when I can only use it for roughly 38 hours with my current amount of batteries. Getting batteries doesn't really seem sustainable to me because according to my profile I have only used a drone 50 hours, yet I don't even have the batteries to use it for one hundred.

Overall, I'll probably work on the prots and gear like you said, omitting the drone factor. I'd rather lose more and have a lower K/D but at least be able to play still because I didn't put all my eggs in one basket so to speak. The most freely available thing in this game is a full HP bar after you die

Your protections should do ok at 45 but against a strong enemy full of legends on other team you might struggle just a tad.

I probably have a worse garage than this depending on how you look at it (More Mk7s but fewer MUs) and I can consistently get top 3 on my team almost every match. Heck, I don't even use a drone and you have maxed out defender, probably the most useful/versatile one of them all. I don't know what's going wrong for you, but it sure as hell ain't your garage. maybe work on your skills a bit

Nope nothing wrong with my skills, i do just fine. but i defy anyone to go up against a fully mued garage, of a legend with my account and come out on top in a full on battle.I've been there done that got the T-SHIRT, and nearly always it's a match dominated by HORNETS. Yes for my rank i am strong and get top 3 just about every battle, if not 1st spot win/lose, but thats my rank mabey commander rank, but to constantly go up against legends and get a decent result is asking to much until i get all my protections to at least 48/50. Im competitive to say the least, and not getting in top 3 means a shocking result and a waste of valuable supplies. I've done really well all the way to this rank and to continue to do so in my opinion, i need to get protections and my turrets very close to being maxed out.None of my turrets are maxed yet so there is work to be done before i battle legends on a regular basis. I don't like getting dominated in battle so to avoid this i will just wait out this silly boosting fiasco of funds and continue where i left off when it has run it's course. To many players fall into the trap of ranking to quick and not being able to compete because of a weak garage, i'm not one of them.

TOP 3 almost every match does not cut it for me. I am not being big headed in any way here, but if im not top spot on losing team are top 2 in winning team 9/10 then it's a very bad result for me. it's what i've been used to on all my main accounts. In order to keep that going i need best garage available along with my style of play to maintain my form throughout all the ranks. Just the type of player i am, also 'im very patient which is why i can wait out this nonsense of fund boosting. This is my opinion, others like yourself will disagree, but as it's my account i do what.. I NO IS BEST.. for me and which has worked out to my benefit for nearly 6 years of playing  TO.

I do this on a consistent basis. I don't screenshot most of my results, only the insanely good ones but I'd be happy to screenshot every result from a day of playing for you if you'd like. There's a lot more to winning games and coming first than just having a maxed garage; although it certainly helps.

Supplies are king, MUs only matter once you're on a level playing field in terms of supplies, not to mention I can cycle Hornet OD and get 50-60% charge before the damn thing runs out. At this point, if you can't beat em, join em.

All this proves is that one, or both of the following is true:

• I (me personally) don't need maxed equipment to compete in matchmaking battles against maxed Legends
• You need, or would like maxed equipment to compete in MM battles against the same Legends

And the second point is completely fine and reasonable on your behalf, I was just trying to let you know that in my opinion you should have higher expectations with that type of Garage.

Your garage looks decent for L1.

Yes, upgrade some of your protections more - smoky and Vulcan stand out.  You really don't need more than 45% until you level more and have other equipment MU-ed.

Best way to upgrade is to throw 1 (and one only) MU on as many items as you can on each sale - concentrating on modules as mentioned above.  For turrets weigh MUs toward 1 short-ish-range (fire or hammer or ricco) and one long range for now.

Don't worry about drones so much now.  Every now and then throw an MU on Defender, but don't use it unless you have it half-way upgraded.  Save batteries for when drones are more effective.

You talk about maxing out protections - but - your profile shows them hardly used AT ALL.  Something off in your profile counter?

FYI... modules from 45-47 are fine.  Those last 3 MUs are diminishing returns - would not invest in them unless you are maxed out on most other things.
