Is there a game mechanism where at least one 'Exotic' must appear when opening up to 300 UT containers?

Paid containers definitely yield better rewards, but they're still not worth the money.

You'll get maximum 3 exotics as confirmed by several youtubers who bought shop bundles.

Now the probability of getting your "desired" exotic augment/skin is very very low.

I'd say these supposed better rewards are just confirmation bias - you're opening a lot of them at once, so the chance of getting at least one legendary/exotic is greater, so therefore the "opening session" is more likely to leave a positive impression than smaller sessions with fewer containers (which are usually obtained for free).

Personally, I opened quite a few sets of 200 containers from purchased bundles, and IIRC at least 3 of them didn't have any exotics. At the same time I've gotten exotics from opening <10 free containers, and I've gotten 2-3 exotics from some sets of 100+ ultra containers. I'm fairly certain there's no bias.

I've opened 15,000+ free-to-obtain ultra containers since the container update in January 2022. My drop rate since then is still close to the stated drop rates of the devs. 

Do you mean to say that if all of those UCs were purchased instead, I would have gotten more Legendaries and Exotics?

I don't know the exact numbers, but the probability of getting an exotic is less than 1%, i.e, 3 out of 300 containers

You can find on youtube, people who bought 300 containers & got only 2-3 exotic items.

Genshin is a "Gacha Game". in caveman terms gacha game = loterry but you don't win money instead you get PNGs and PIXELS 

people pay big for new shiny PNG and pixels/people pay small for new augments in tanki

new PNG is stronger than old PNG/ new augment is strong but the last strong one gets nerfed

Gacha games were a thing way before containers and other tanki greediness

• Containers now have a guarantee that prizes of better rarity will drop after opening the required number of containers

  • Common Container

    • Rare item is guaranteed after opening 15
