Option to rent exclusive augments

Normal version:

The idea is to rent the augments with the option to buy. In other words, if you rent an augment like helios for every month for one year, the total tank coins (not crystals) will count toward the purchase price for the augment.

If a player wants to rent Helios for 1 month at 1,000 tank coins and the full purchase price is 19,990 tank coins. If they rent it for 12 months, either all 12,000 tank coins they have already spent get deducted from the total so they owe 7,990, or maybe only 75% of their 12,000 coins applies toward purchase.

Many players do not have augments like helios, assault magazine, Twins and Thunder Pulsar, Hydra, etc. The result in games is that players who DO have them take 1st place with an average of over 40 kills.

It's rather easy and doesn't take much skill. I know this because I have had this many kills using all of these in the test server. Now that they appear in the garage for many as 'Not Available',

it is time for Tanki Developers to create a way for everyone to have a chance to use them and help balance out battles. I have seen so many where one or two players who have these type of augments just dominate the entire game. The idea is to rent the augments with the option to buy. Other augments include Swarm, Vacuum Shells, Tesla Pulsar - there are many. Tanki sets the price for renting and total purchase. This is better than buying 290 ultra containers where you gamble on getting just 1 exotic and the exotic you might get could be 1 million crystals that you do not need, or an expensive, exotic paint. Functionality is more important than feature. Paints, skins, shot effects ... they do nothing to help your tank be any stronger.

You can say what you want about skill, but I have been killed hundreds of times by these super OP augments and it only takes 1 second to kill me and others. This happens even if you have protections maxed out at 50% against the turret AND armadillo maxed out - which I have. There is virtually no protection against these augments once they target you and even at my level (Legend 97) it is frustrating and annoying and creates a severe imbalance in battles.

I'm at a point where I am going to pull out of games where the enemy has one or two of these turrets with the OP augments. For the last few years they have destroyed my k/d because I try very hard to capture flags and score goals - often taking lots of kills before scoring. If I don't play to win, then I get accused of camping, or one team member says 'noob team'.

But the truth is that it is hard for a team to beat another team when they have 2 or more players with these OP augments and they literally wipe out everybody thinking they are top guns. Having had these augments in test server several times, I can tell you that it's rather easy to take first place when you have them. This is a way for Tanki to make more money and give players the opportunity to play more balanced and enjoy the tank enhancement.

It has been frustrating for buyers who purchase a shop special at $236.99 USD only to get 1 exotic skin or paint. And after 3 years of playing and completing Ultra Missions on weekends, I have only received supplies, crystals, paints and shot effects. One time I did get an XT skin, but that was a rare situation. IMO, the ultra mini missions are fine if you need crystals and supplies.

Other than that, if you have a full garage, they are a waste of time. SO, make the shop like a real store where the goods are on the shelf with a price tag. If you cannot afford to buy them then have the option to rent them for a month - just like buying Premium for a period of time. Lastly, what I mean buy rent with option to buy is, say a player wants to rent Helios for 1 month at 1,000 tank coins and the full purchase price is 19,990 tank coins.

This works out the same as a Shop Special but without the gambling risk. You should get what you pay for in any store! Why not give this a try? I am certain many players would buy into it. They could also still play the Challenge, The Elite Challenge, buy tank coins for 30 days (and probably buy this more often so thy can afford to rent the augment) buy Premium and more.

But as for the augments, I think these changes should happen:

- remove pulsar, emp, stun, and AP turret augments.

- for helios and assault magazine. Either increase the clip reload or nerf the shot damage.

- for hydra, increase the aiming time.

Ok I confess. I lied about reading only two sentences. I actually do recall reading up to the renting part.

Exotic augments shouldn't be stronger than garage augments by definition. Instead, they should require more skill and thought when in use and own profound, unique mechanics. Also applies to drones.

Damn it took you 3 years to realise that ultra missions are a total waste of time. It took me less than 1 month lol.

Here's another fact: ultra weekends/double xp every week exist solely to prevent f2p players from collapsing in this dead game economy (and also make money from buyers)

It is quite unfortunate that the only way to access exotic augments/skins is to gamble $300 on containers, but the funny thing is that buyers are willing to do so, thus they won't change it anytime soon. Remember, 20% of players generate 80% of tanki's revenue

 

Here's why they won't implement the idea of renting:

- Gambling, gambling, gambling: renting augments will eliminate the need of gambling on containers, thus overall revenue, this game is a freaking casino
- Another tanki business model is to create very op augments, sell them to buyers, let them dominate battles for a while, then nerf to the ground. They are paying the whole amount upfront to get access to such exclusivity & power. If all players were allowed to rent them for a fraction of the price as you described, game balance would be a total mess. Then, when the nerfing phase starts after 2-3 months, everyone will stop renting the items, thus reducing the revenue by the unpaid price difference. (p.s, it is possible that they make profits using rentals, they need to experiment around)

Honestly they should bring back the rent augments (for every augments except phoenix) in which you should pay with crystals, not tankoins, cuz it's hard to get them if you're non buyer, it was so great this feature

The idea of recurring revenue brings value to a software company over that of just a handful of one-time purchases that may yield nothing in the way of improving the tanks performance (like skins, paints, 1 million crystals, or even 10 days of premium - which I haven't seen in containers for some time.). Renting is a recurring revenue business model that works very well for software companies. Anti-virus companies use it as an example. Many other large software companies have such contracts too. Tanki is missing an opportunity here if they do not consider this.

Declined

After a detailed discussion, the topic is marked as Declined because:

1.)  Obtaining exclusive augments in the current stage of the game is not as hard as it was before, hence the Idea of rental gets sidelined in terms of priority and feasibility.

2.) The rate of rentals (as you mentioned being used in other companies as well including many famous games) is adjusted either by real money or with any in-game currency, in this case tankoins, hence people are not going to rent augments with real money and as for tankoins, even if it gets implemented, the rate would be so high or absurd that most tankers won't even think about it.

3.) Iterating some portion from my 1st point, many exotic augments that are not even available in the Containers won't be available through rentals as well, else there would be no safeguard to buyers actually buying everything in their way, hence you'll get to rent only those augments which are available in the Containers, but then again, they can be obtained by opening containers themselves, and for permanently.

4.) I believe we had the concept of rentals before, hence as Rule 2.e) of the I&S, we do not accept Ideas regarding reversal of update (but in this case, this rule has a very little weight in the process of declining this Idea).

Idea is not locked, so feel free to share your opinions and continue the discussion ^^
