It's like saying what reason does a heavy tank have to take a flag if its slower than medium or light hulls.

The flag doesn't blow up and kill you when you take it, though.

Necessary sacrifice for the greater good

Not really.

Just the developers way of making you use more supplies when you respawn.

When the Juggernaut explodes upon its death and kills most tanks in its vicinity, what possible reason does a short range tank like firebird (for example) have to participate in the mission--when it most certainly means certain death when he has to get close to the juggernaut to do damage?

You say it as though the melee turret gets absolutely nothing for it. You're not dying in vain. You get the points for killing or assisting in killing the Juggernaut when it dies. And now that the Juggernaut has Blaster, you can even gain OD charge from killing it with your OD, unlike before.

The correct apporach imo would be a drastic change to the way points are allocated, as many have suggested before.

Whatever you DO get for killing the jug, it isn't worth it while campers camp and don't die for it.

Remember, the other side has campers too. Just waiting for your melee tank to come a little closer.

The number of times you die prior to even getting close the the jug is massive compared to the 'reward' of death for the 'greater good'.

Sorry, dude. You will never ever convince me that melee turrets are worth it in jug and that campers don't have the best strategy there.

Wasnt trying to convince you of anything, just stated the motivation is the same for everyone, which doesnt mean certain combos arent better than other for TJR.

Me myself for sure prefer other modes using melee weapons, but than again, I dont really enjoy TJR much at all ...

I was agreeing with you.

I used your answer to suggest that the points allocation should be greatly adjusted (in jug) to make it beneficial to participate in the mission and not just sit back and camp.

Attacking the jug directly was always a suicide mission to begin with, but having it explode and kill your tank as well is just a silly update. Not even an upgrade imo.

This feels like the gaming equivalent of the horseshoe crab evolution.

edit:

And if you take into account the severely mismatched gear scores of enemy tanks in the arena, there literally is no reason to attempt to track down the jug. It's a waste of time, effort, supplies, and anything else they want us to spend money on.

If you agree with someone and want to use their post and add on to it with your own points, this is an example of how its done to avoid this kind of misunderstanding:

"Like @frederik123456 said."

Frederick's post or a part of it.

Your own added points below the quote.

It isn't only Jug where camping tends to be the norm.

This one devolved very early into a campers deathmatch.

Nobody cared to bring a flag.
