[Suggestion] Custom Decals from Uploaded Images

TL;DR
Allow players to upload their own images as decals, place them freely on tanks, and use them for personal expression or clan identity. This would add creativity, immersion, and monetization opportunities while staying safe through moderation and file limits.

Introduction

Customization has always been one of Tanki Online’s strengths. While paints and skins provide variety, there is room to expand personalization further. I propose the addition of a Custom Decal System that allows players to upload their own images and apply them directly to their tanks.

Feature Concept:

Players can upload PNG/JPEG images from their device.

Decals can be resized, rotated, and positioned anywhere on the hull or turret.

A limited number of decal slots (e.g., 1–3) per tank ensures balance and avoids visual clutter.

Clans could standardize their look by applying clan logos to all members’ tanks.

Benefits:

Player Identity & Creativity – Showcase personal logos, artwork, or designs.

Clan Integration – Strengthen clan culture by displaying shared emblems in battles.

Monetization Opportunities – Unlock decal slots through Tankoins, Battle Pass rewards, or premium bundles.

Community Engagement – Encourage contests for creative decals and highlight community talent.

Challenges & Solutions:

Inappropriate Content- Automated filters + player reporting system.Manual review for flagged images.

Performance Concerns- Restrict file size (e.g., max 1 MB) and resolution (e.g., 512x512).Support only standard formats like PNG/JPEG.

Server Load-Cache decals locally to minimize repeated transfers.

Conclusion:

A custom decal system would modernize Tanki Online’s customization options, create deeper community connections, and enhance player pride in their vehicles. With proper safeguards, it could become both a player-favorite feature and a new monetization avenue for the developers.

I hope this idea is considered by the development team, as it has the potential to significantly improve personalization and long-term enga

Declined

You propose an interesting solution, but the ultimate downside remains the same. Firstly, decals are not considered feasible by Developers, high cost input for a surprisingly low cost output. Secondly, you talk about removing inappropriate decals through automated filters, hence for a small system, such automated feature would have to be set up in the first place, followed by manual review. There could be thousand of images flagged for review, and manual review is technically not possible.

That is why primarily, we don't have decals or sprays for tank, tank skins, battle themes, and profile logos, the cons outweigh the pros by a huge margin,
