If you notice, the new graphics are a lot simpler in texture than the old graphics. This should mean faster loading times, if the administration are to believed (which I think they should be).

Sure. Come and get it.

Just to let you know, Bruce has said that even after 1.100.0 we will still be able to play games on the old graphics. Apparently, it will be a setting like "Winter/Summer", we can choose "Old/New". That's what Bruce says, and it wouldn't surprise me. I think that that is only regarding the props, however. I don't think that we will have such a setting for our tanks: I expect our tanks to be permanently changed into the new version.

The best bit about the new graphics is knowing that the old graphics will still be around as well as the new graphics.

Guide [Issue 5] Control Points
skitee replied to skitee in [Issue 5] Control Points Newspaper Archive
By the time this article is published, the 1.100.0 update should have been released, and hopefully Control Points (CP) has been publicly exposed to the world. If it is not, you can get a good idea of CP gameplay here and join in the discussion here in this thread. My aim in writing this article is to kick off some discussion about the new game mode, Control Points. Accompanying such a radical change to gameplay is a number of questions. Will CP be able to overhaul CTF as the most popular game mode? Will CP even be enjoyable to play? Will clans play clan wars in CP or CTF? Is CP harder or easier to win than CTF? Can one player win a game for their team if they have epic skills, like they can in CTF? So many questions, so few answers right now. Even if 1.100.0 is released according to schedule, then I’m sure that when this article is published, a couple of days after, most tankmen will still not be able to figure all about what CP is like just yet. So first of all, what is CP? I’m sure most people will know what it is by now, but there will still be a few tankmen who are still in the dark about this upcoming update. So, let me attempt to sum up what it is like. Firstly and foremostly, it's a team game mode. There are red and blue teams. Then, secondly, there are a number of points over the map called “Control Points”. Different maps have different amounts depending on the size of the map. For example, Sandbox has one, Solikamsk has six, and so on. These points are the crux of CP gameplay. The two teams will be battling it out to be able to Control the points for as long as possible (Yes, the hint is in the name). By controlling them, one of the team's tankmen has to be standing at the bottom of the point attempting to be controlled for a short time in order to turn the point into their team's colour and giving them the points from controlling the point (I’m sorry if that is too confusing, you'll understand once it is released. Honest.). If the point in question was owned by the opposite team first, they will have to spend double the time in first “neutralizing” the point before capturing it for their own team. Many things about it are still unknown to the public – how exactly the scoring system will work, what announcements will come up at the top of the screen, the location of the points in every map, whether and how much experience will be received by a tankmen capturing/neutralizing a point. This will make the debate all the more difficult, although hopefully we will know all these things once the game mode is released – after all, if we still do not know, there must be some mistake with the release! But anyhow, that's enough with the introduction. Now onto the issues that need to be debated. First of all, will CP be an enjoyable form of Tanki at all? And will it be as enjoyable as CTF, the current most popular game mode, is? First of all, I think that Control Points will be worthwhile to play. The whole aspect of a change in game mode to the simplistic TDM and CTF will be good to have. However, I suspect that the confusing nature of CP will set it back far enough so that it will not be able to overhaul CTF as the most popular game mode. To be honest, I cannot see CTF being overhauled by CP. The scoring system of CP, as well as the requirement for games to be at full capacity of the map for there to be interesting gameplay will count against it, I feel. What do you think? From what you have seen of CP, do you think it will be better than CTF? Or do you even think it might not even be any good at all? Also, what about clans? If you are not in a clan, you might not be able to reach a judgement on this matter, but do you think clan wars will and should take part in which game mode? Is the seemingly random game style of CP better, or the calculated attacks and defence of CTF? Does the pro-offence of CP or the pro-defence of CTF involve more skill and tactics? Personally, I think that clans should stick with CTF as a clan war game mode, for a number of reasons. The main one being, CTF will not be able to have dodgy scoring. Clan wars are heated matters, and losing clans will pick on any excuse to claim foul play from the other clan. I've heard things like hacking to cause connection closed for the other team, drugging in no-supplies battles, and equally ridiculous things. And I've only played about five clan wars. If clan wars are played in CP, inevitably clans will start arguing with each other over CP scoring, as well as the hundred other things they currently argue about. I don't see the point of adding another excuse to fight. There are other reasons as well: Capture the Flag is simply a lot simpler to count, as well as rewarding shrewd tactical planning beforehand more than CP does. CTF also is “tried-and-tested”, whilst CP is a whole new gameplay style, which most clans will not like too much. On the other hand, that might be an advantage to CP if you look at it from the opposite perspective. And the aggressive nature of CP might be seen as an advantage over the defensive CTF. It all depends on your own opinion. What's yours? Is CP or CTF a better choice as a clan war game mode? Post below, and give your own reasons. And what about personal playing in CP? How easy will it be for “takeovers” to take part in this map? And will one tankman with lots of drugs and skills be able to make his or her team win, like they can in CTF? Well this, I think, is the biggest benefit of CP. Herein lies a game mode which will truly balance out a great team from a good team. Even if one person goes about with full drugs, they will not be able to make too great an impact on the score. (I say this having never played CP; I may be wrong) Only when the whole team works together to capture the points will a takeover be able to occur, and even then it cannot be as fast as it can happen in CTF: Even in the most one-sided of games, there will be times when inevitably the weaker side is getting points from the one or two control points that they are owning. This makes CP far more predictable to guess the result, however, and it might not be too enjoyable for people watching on a livestream to figure out the result. What do you think? Do you agree that CP has a strength in this area? Do you think that the fact that a whole team needs to be working rather than just one person is the biggest strength of CP? Or do you think that there are other positives which are more beneficial to entertaining gameplay in CP? Like normal, post below with your opinions and reasons. What do you think will be the best bit of CP? Are there any other things worth discussing about CP? If there's one thing that I'd like to know, it's who came up with the idea for CP in the first place and what was the purpose of CP. In the video, Alexey Khusainov also said that in the development of CP “it was hard to choose one” game mode to formulate. I would like to know what the other options of game mode were, wouldn't you? What other game mode would you like to see added into Tanki? Anyhow, CP is going to be coming out any moment now, and I’m looking forward to the release very much! I hope that CP will be as good as CTF and DM currently are, and I am sure it will benefit overall Tanki gameplay very much. But what do you think on the smaller issues? Is CP better than CTF? Is CP harder to play? What do you say? -

1. playtanki.com, koolwalky.com are the best. 2. Get wasp M2, and, if you are good at railgun, you can. 3. M3 Freeze, M3 Viking, Drugging round the sides. I usually win if I'm there from the start with people my rank. 4. Because railguns who hit and run are noobs at using railgun. 5. Every 3 months, normally. 6. Fun. 7. There are over 14.5 million accounts. I'd say about 500,000 of them are active (played at least once a week) 8. Depends on the context. In a 5v5, it'd be a combination of Thunders, Freezes and Ricos ONLY, normally about 1 Freeze and 2 of the others. In a 6v6, you throw in a Shaft or an Isida. In an 8v8, there'd be a mix of those 5 weapons, with priority given to Thunders and Ricochets. 9. Hornet at M3 10. If you are good at it, you can win games easily up till WO3. From then, you can still succeed until First Lieutenant but you need a slice of luck, drugs, and an epic amount of skill. 11. You do get reward if you are top of your team. 12. Because if you do that, your team won't win. 13. 2. 14. So they can get a small slice of the fund. Also, some people (like me) don't play tanki for crystals or even experience points. We just play for enjoyment. 15. Because kill-stealing is a part of this game which makes it so awesome. 16. Numerous reasons, the main ones being browser-based gameplay and a frag system. 1. Yes, it is. They both are close-range weapons that can shoot multiple enemies at once. 2. I used Firebird M2 and Hunter M2 at staff sergeant. Back when I was a noob rank, you guys were able to play in the smaller maps like Island and Ping-Pong so Firebird-Hunter was the best combination available. Now, I'd recommend Smoky-Hunter or Firebird-Wasp. I don't think railgun is any good before M2 Railgun.

Other [Issue 5] If the English Community was a company....
skitee replied to skitee in [Issue 5] If the English Community was a company.... Newspaper Archive
“So it's ready? No? How soon? Two weeks? You sure? Okay.” Bruce Lunga put down a phone, and swivelled his chair around in a full 360 degree turn. He felt that he deserved it. It had been a busy day, but one which he was now satisfied with as it drew to a close. He had just got a phone call from the Russian managers of the company, Online Phonei, telling him that their latest model of phone, the Phonei 2.0, was almost ready for release and would be available for sale within the next two weeks. As the manager of the English side of Online Phonei, it was his job to announce news of the release to the general English-speaking public, and as a result kick off the hype which would inevitably follow. He sipped a glass of champagne for a few minutes, basking in the success of his company at being able to release such a state-of-the-art phone so soon. Eventually, however, he realized that work had to be done, so he got on the phone with his personal assistant, the head of the Public Relations team, Nick Super. Nick did not answer the phone immediately, but once he did, Bruce tried to get straight to the point. It took him a few minutes to explain the whole situation, but once he was sure that Nick had understood, Bruce hung up and Nick started to make plans. He decided that he would have a press conference the next day, along with the other members of the PR team, Kool Walky and H. Usto, accompanied by Bruce Lunga. He quickly made plans for the location, booking a prominent hotel in the middle of New York for the conference. He also thought that a Q&A session online would also be a good idea, so he got on to coding up an online chatroom for the Q&A session to occur. Meanwhile, Bruce had been on the phone with the head of his press relations team, Les Alterman, and his assistant, Tommy Sixty. He had explained the situation to them, and they, along with the other members of the press team, Chris Wu, Seven Ranger and Skit Ee, were working hard to get the news of the new release out to the world. They contacted leading newspapers trying to get the news of the release as early as they could. Les also got to work on to trying to create a whole website counting down to the release date for the newspapers to take information about the new phone from, with an accompanying presskit. Once Bruce had finished those phone calls, he afforded himself time to relax. It was a busy job being the face of such a big company for so many English-speaking people, but at times it was worth it. Like now. If he managed to get the Phonei 2.0 to record sales in Europe and America, he would feel satisfied – as well as being able to get a big pay rise. But before he went home for the day, he had one last phone call to make. He dialed through to the head of the company's English advertising group, Kody Barr. After explaining the situation, he managed to get Kody, with his trio of helpers, Lham Ster, Arya Seven, and Shadow Visions, to secure as much advertising as they could for the new product. He hoped that it would be the biggest release of a smart phone that the world would ever have seen. Anything less was a disappointment. And with that thought in mind, he quickly packed up his briefcase and left his office for home. ******* Overnight, the individual Online Phonei teams worked as hard as they could to get the news out as soon as they could. In fact, the newspapers the next day were all talking about it. It was the front page of all of the major newspapers. The Tiems of Britain quoted Tommy Sixty, who had said in one of his reports how it would “change the face of the earth for ever”. The New York Weeekly announced in a special Wednesday issue that “if the Phonei 2.0 lives up to expectations, the world, not just the world of phones but the entire world, will be changed forever”, citing numerous facts from v2.phonei.com, the website “created from scratch overnight by Mr. Alertman, a leading company official for the phonei brand”. And so, all over the globe in the morning, the public woke up to the news that the Phonei 2.0 was to be released for the public's consumption in the upcoming two weeks. The advertising crew had excelled themselves, and plastered all over advertising boardings in every major city were huge posters featuring the numerous abilities of the new Phonei, not to mention the amount of internet advertising that the team was also co-ordinating. Accompanying the news about the release was news that pre-orders were available – but only for fanatics who were willing to travel to Perm to sign up for the new phone. As a result, travel agencies and airlines were forced to make emergency detours to central Russia on fully-booked flights. ******* The day went quickly for the Phonei corporation. The developers were working round-the-clock in order to get the Phonei onto the production decks as soon as they could, incorporating all the new features they had promised, such as weapon rebalancing, hardware acceleration, new graphics, shadows, and profiles for all users. Would they be able to do it? was the question on most of the breakfast TV shows in Europe and America, as the news came through. Opinions were divided. Maddog Twentyone, a leading American TV host and also a huge fanatic of the Phonei range, suggested that he thought that the Phonei's release would have to be delayed by a week or two because of the enormous demand in the English-speaking world. On the other hand, Me Lieutenant, a leading Austrian radio co-host, was confident that the phone would be available in time. “They would not announce such a recent deadline if they could not fulfil it.” was his thought on the matter. In Perm, among the queue of people signing up for the pre-orders of the Phonei 2.0, opinions were equally divided. “They'll never do it – the whole purpose of this is just to lift up their fame and make some money – I bet they aren't even working on developing the phone” was Goo Wiki's opinion on the matter. Reiki Onetwothreefourfive was equally sceptical, saying “They will try but they will fail to get it out in time. Not cool.” On the other hand, some people were more convinced with the announcement. Federal Beareau FBI, who was nonplussed at the reactions that some people were given, shouted “Use the search button next time!” in anger at all the people who were making unreasoned statements with no logic behind them. And still others were in complete support of the company's upcoming release date. “Of course they'll make it on time!” Selena Onetwo said. “Why shouldn't they? They wouldn't have given this date if they weren't confident of making it!”. Dat Ie echoed a similar sentiment, saying “Really looking forward to this new model. So glad the release is soon.” However, things started to get a bit heated when a few people with differing opinions starting to get angry at each other. Fortunately, the security team, headed up by Kool Walky, was on hand to break up any fighting, even going as far as putting on thick duct tape to silence some of the people who had started to go over the top in the war of words that was starting to occur. And right at the back, a small voice could be heard shouting out as loud as he could. “I agree!” Fjestald One said, “I agree with you all! +1!” Eventually, the crowd started to calm down as they signed up for the pre-order and started to leave the building and go off to enjoy the sights (forgive me, sight) of Perm. The security team closed out the gates, and normality was resolved at the large development HQ building and the next-door factory. Would the company get the phone out on time? Only time would tell. ******* Bruce Lunga looked out at the empty courtyard in front of him. He was happy. Development was well on it's way in the Phonei 2.0. He knew that the whole of the English-speaking world would all know his name soon, and beyond. He would be famous, but more than that, the Phonei would change history forever. And the privilege of being part of that was just amazing. He was happy, and soon the entire world would be happy as well. He knew the potential in the Phonei – he had seen it for himself in the tests that day. It was boundless. -
Heck yea.... The new graphics will be okay, but I'm more looking forwards to CP more than anything, for nothing more than curiosity's sake.

Acid was player made... I think some of the other newer paints were as well.

:S Too new. I have no idea how the new version works.

How to get a lot of crystals: Don't get M1s of everything. You're only a sergeant, so delete your account and start again with a new account. This time, only choose one of the weapons - Smoky, firebird, or twins, and get that up to M2 a.s.a.p. Equip it with: Smoky-Hunter;Firebird-Wasp*;Twins-Titan and upgrade the tank when and how you can as well. You'll get a lot more crystals if you re-start your account. *I know that when I started Tanki, Firebird-Hunter was a better combo. But now low ranks can't play Ping-Pong and Island, Firebird-Wasp is a better combination.

In previous issues, I have run through the maps “Siege” and “Magadan”. Magadan is, in my opinion, the most beautiful map in Tanki, whilst Siege has very unique gameplay that makes it special. I would recommend any tankmen to try to check out those two maps, as well as any other old maps, and see if you enjoy playing battles there. Those maps are just two that are well worth playing if you are getting bored of the monotonous gameplay of Silence and Kungur. But this issue's article is about neither of those two maps, which you probably would have gathered from the title. This issue is about Chernobyl, one of the lesser-known maps, despite a very famous name. As you should know, Chernobyl was a nuclear reactor in Ukraine (then part of the USSR) that experienced its famous core meltdown in 1986 and caused huge amounts of nuclear radiation to be leaked into the atmosphere, with the fallout killing thousands across Europe. The map, created by Duke2.0 and released along with re-releases of Fort Knox and Wolfenstain back on February the 10th 2010, has been in Tanki for over two years now. Yet in these two years, it has hardly been played. You rarely see a map of Chernobyl in the servers. Why is this? Is it because it is simply a rubbish map, or, like with Siege and Magadan, has this ill favour from the Tanki community been misjudged? To find out, let me first attempt to give a brief summation of how the map is laid out. The two flags are on elevated platforms on opposite sides of the map. The only way to access them is from the sides or back. Both flags have three routes from the “floor” onto the elevated platform where each flag lies. The following picture gives a bird's eye view, with each team's base coloured in its own colour. The map layout is very similar whichever team you are on. The whole of the rear part of the base is at least a little bit elevated off ground level, as are most of the respawn points. Tankmen then have to drop down to ground level before they reach the “neutral zone” between the bases. To reach the neutral zone, they can take three routes into the enemy base. They can go up a ramp to the right of their base to get to a high zone. This area favours shafts and railguns, who can hide up here and fire into the enemy base. They could also go through the middle of the map, a central “pass” with one or two walls in the way to make it look slightly more impressive. This is one of the best features of any map in Tanki, in my opinion, and is well-suited for tankmen trying to get into the enemy base quickly. However, Shafts normally camp in a position so that they can pick you off if you head through here, so a risk is involved when you travel through it. Tankmen could also go through an underground area of the map, either to the left or right of the central pass. This is slightly longer than through the middle, but carries minimal risk of being sniped out by a Shaft. All of these routes are summed up in the following picture: Obviously, tankmen should consider what routes they should take to capture the flag. My preferred route would be to go through one of the underground tunnels, take the flag, kill the shafts from behind, and then head back through the central pass without the threat of sniping shafts. Combined with luck and skill, a capture here only needs a nitro and might even be done without use of any drugs. Anyway, what of Chernobyl's history as a map? Well, that's the thing. There isn't any. Unlike most other maps that are that old, Chernobyl has not been featured in many, if any, special holidays or competitions. Chernobyl was not selected for “Capture Card”; it is not an official ToF map; it has not been featured in too many quests, at least not prominently. Chernobyl has been left alone, and that, I think, contributes greatly to it's perceived ignorance from the community. This is not fair treatment to such an epic map. After all, gameplay and tactics form a great part of play in Chernobyl, even in normal battles. Where should the Shafts be camping? Are Ricochets or Thunders more useful at capturing the flag? Hornets or Vikings? Isida or Freeze? Which route should be taken to nab that all-important flag? Which drugs? Where to mine? Which route into the base should you mine? Is going to the top tier important? Should you bother to kill the enemy Shaft? How do you avoid the Shafts? Is Railgun or Thunder a better sniping weapon? A team with co-ordination in Chernobyl would be able to DESTROY a team without it, no matter how many M3-M3-Paints the other team has. Tactics are everything here. Tactics and Co-ordination, that is. So why don't you go and give Chernobyl a go? You may find that you enjoy playing in this tactical map as much as you do in the more mainstream maps. You will never find out if you do not go and give it a go, after all! So go into your local server and hit that “Create” button and check out Chernobyl's special gameplay for yourself! See you in the game! God bless, ~skitee~ Pictures by dimmmy (cover photo), WhiteKnight170 (tankstestingtool pictures) and koolwalky (bird's eye view pictures)

You jelly? Do you even know what it means? And mods type like that as well anyway, it's a certain type of talking. For example, the third post here: http://forum.tankionline.com/posts/list/134687.page . And yea, I'm not a mod. I said what I wanted to say, and I did not want to quote. How on earth did you think you knew what I wanted to say better than I did?
