[Issue 5] English Clan Championship!
skitee replied to skitee in [Issue 5] English Clan Championship! Newspaper Archive
For many a year, this is what the whole of the English community has been breathlessly anticipating. Even all the way back in 2010, when I was just a small tankman destroying enemy tanks with my trusty Firebird, people were talking about this event with hope that one day it would happen. Tankmen all over the English community were looking forward to this moment. Rumours about whether it would release continuously cropped up. And not until now has it been started. Not until the last two weeks. What is it that has had so much hype over the age? Before you ask, this is not an advance newspaper article announcing to the world the release of Tanki 2.0. 2.0 has had this hype, but this is an article about another highly-anticipated aspect of Tanki. After all, Tanki 2.0 has been cancelled and will not be out for a good few years now. What I am talking about is something which some of us have been looking forward to more than we have been towards 2.0. What I have been talking about is the first ever official English Clan Tournament. Yes, the first English Clan Tournament. For the first time in the English community, the strongest and most fearsome tankmen in the English community have a medium by which we can see for the first time which English clan can truly be judged as “the best”. And which clan will be crowned? Which clan will prevail in this battle of Tanki skill and strategy? All of the big names of the English community are going to be taking part. Dare Devils, Kings of Tanki, Domination Clan, the Ironclads, Cobras Poison – they have all signed up, and are all going to be trying to win the crown, which is accompanied by the massive prize of 150,000 crystals. On another note, this championship will be trying to build on the world cup and integrate a viewing experience for those who are not lucky enough to be in a clan and take part in the battles. The cybersport/DJ team are going to be streaming live as many of the battles as they can, and you can watch all that are streamed! The battles that the clans will fight will all be closely fought (Except for the inevitable few) and exciting to watch, and the amazing new HD cybersport channel recently bought for the English community certainly will help to make the viewing experience more pleasurable. Accompanied by the new Cybersport commentators, led by ShadowVisions and BarKode, the memories of watching the first couple of World Cup games on that unreliable feed, with minimal quality and unclear sound will be just that – nothing more than memories of the past. There is a new age to the English Community's cybersport now, and I am sure that the DJ and Cybersport commentary team will be able to pull out all the shots in giving us, the viewers, an amazing viewing experience when watching this clan tournament. The World Cup was the starter for the cybersport team to get ready, now is this the main course? Will they be able to be as popular as they were during the world cup, even without Snyper22? Anyway, aside from the cybersport teams and onto what this competition will be all about: the clans. After all, it's clans competing against clans, is it not? The clans should be the main focus of this article and the Clan Championship in general. Will the established clans be able to win? Or will new clans spring surprises? What about the clans that have returned to the English community after having graced the Russian community for the latest ToF and “Capture Card” competitions? What nationality of clan will the winner be? German, Arabic, English, Italian, or what? Whatever the answer to these questions about the overall winner will be, there is one thing that is certain: it'll certainly be exciting in the way that they get to the top of the pile! As far as I can remember, this is the first cybersport competition that will utilize a variation of playing modes (CTF, TDM, and CP), with CTF for all the preliminary matches, and CP and TDM for the final and semi-final respectively. This will mean that for a clan to conquer, they will not just need to be good at the established clan war tactics of fighting a CTF battle, but they also need to be able to adapt to TDM fighting and the brand-new fighting style that will be of Capture Points. Capture Points, incidentally, if you did not know, is the new game mode which will be coming out with the new graphics in the highly-anticipated upcoming 1.100.0 update. As a game mode, it will certainly be very entertaining to play in public battles. The scoring system seems ingenious, and having points in strategic positions on the map will give a different feel to gameplay. But is capture point suitable for clan war fighting? How can strategy be planned out? The top clans will certainly have to think about that if they want to win the crown of the top English clan! I am positive that the final will be a cracking affair in terms of clan war fighting in the new game mode. It should be amazing. But that is just a diversion, and a discussion for another topic. Back to the English clan Tournament. There have already been attempts at starting other, unofficial, tournaments, between clans, but very few have left the ground. The only one that actually started was one created by koolwalky and PhantomMeat earlier in the year, but even that was a half-hearted affair, only competed by some of the clans and not even rated too highly by those that did compete. This should be a completely different matter. For a start, there are prizes at stake: things like pride, “sticky”s, and reputation, not to mention the small matter 150,000 crystals, will stop any clan from treating this lightly! Whatever the outcome will be, and no matter how everything is planned out, it will certainly be an amazing spectacle to watch and to take part in. By the time this is published, the deadline for applications should have closed, but you still have a chance to apply for one of the clans that did enter, and see if you will have a chance to take part in this, the grandest of stages. And here's to hoping that the first English clan championship will not be the last! -
I didn't time myself because the OP did not clearly state it. The only reference to time on the OP was "Quickest time wins" which I have to say I did not work out to mean "Time yourself", which was my failure. Reasonably, I'd give myself 3 minutes 30 seconds. I don't mind the answers public. Thus, I post them public.

Manofbelgium, the old version of TanksTestingTool is far more reliable than the new version. Do you have the old version?

At one point, the official Test Server test.tankionline.com contained the "new graphics". As for whether that is what it is like at the moment, that only the official testers can tell us.

I once was so skinny I started to go to McDonalds for the sole reason to put on weight. Now I enjoy it so much that despite the fact that I am starting to put on too much weight, I still want to have that McChicken Sandwich!

And, as I can see, you did not answer my question. Come on. Also, you state that drugs are apparently "a bad part" of the game. "Quit games due to druggers" is apparently a bad thing. "Drugs give players an unfair advantage" apparently. "Abusing advantages" is one way of looking at it, yes. And apparently removing drugs will "improv(e)... the game". Really? What evidence do you have for this, or are they all a random bunch of opinionated statements? The way I see it, all drugs do is improve the game. They are optional (Can be avoided, using NS battle passes). They speed up gameplay. They reward people who pay money to the game. They bring a new dimension to the game, meaning that not just skilled players but players who are long-standing players who have saved up drugs for a long time are rewarded. They give an advantage to higher ranks, who receive more drugs in a daily bonus. You see, there are pros and cons to drugs. And in reality, with the amount of both pros and cons, the drugs issue is purely opinion on either side. There is no right or wrong on this issue.

There is no "solution" to druggers, nor should there be. Why have a solution to something which is part of the game? Is there a "solution" to people who capture the flag with skill? Of course not. Is there a solution to campers? Of course not. Neither should there be any solution to druggers. After all, druggers are a part of the game. The problem comes when you separate druggers from tanki, as if they are a problem in Tanki. Take druggers and add that to tanki as a whole and judge the game for yourself. May I ask you a question? Did you have a Double power stored up when you were facing this double armoured hunter you are referring to which you think should not have been able to survive your consumption? -If you did, then you showed a lack of skill by not using a possible advantage you could have had/ you were clearly not considering this hunter as a major threat enough to warrant usage of a double power in which case you were punished for a misjudgement. -If you did not, then you showed a lack of skill by not saving up your drugs for times when you needed them more. And if you used a double power when the named hunter turned up,...

This try it out is planned for paints, apparently, so you can see what a paint looks like on your tank before you buy it.

Other [Issue 4] Ten Reasons why Every Tankmen Should be in a Clan

@Afg: Sorry. How about zooming out, or is that not ok? it is ok on my screen, which is hardly large. @Nick: I didn't proofread it enough, sorry. :$ -
I like the way the current system is so biased towards the result. It may be really annoying when you get over 2,000 points on the losing team, yes, but it is fair. The result is based on the whole team. If people who are very skilled don't want to be held back by their team, they can go play Death Match. No team to worry about there. Skilled players who play TDM or CTF should expect the risk of being with a really weak team, shouldn't they? It's part of the game, after all. By the way, what about this situation: Red Team is leading the whole game, it's a first to 50 flag game. They race into a 49-0 lead. Their fund is huge compared to Blue team's. Then the Blue team starts a takeover. They get it back to 49-30, but in all this time the Red Team still has been increasing faster than the Blues' and now their fund is huge in comparison. Eventually, the Blue team win 50-49. However, the Red team's fund has been so big that the Red Team gets far more crystals despite losing.

Other [Issue 4] Ten Reasons why Every Tankmen Should be in a Clan
skitee replied to skitee in [Issue 4] Ten Reasons why Every Tankmen Should be in a Clan Newspaper Archive
I guess that some people could find my articles about Clans monotonous. After all, the way I always talk about clans and how certain clans work and how the clans system operates. After all, for most tankmen, they see no reason why they should be in a clan. After all, is it not just a pain in the neck that distracts you from getting on and playing the game? Well, some people see it like that. But I want to tell you guys some good reasons why you should not see it like that. Why you guys should be looking at joining a clan, to get the most out of your Tanki Online experience. Let's get the really, really, obvious one out of the way first. Why should you join a clan? So that you can have Tanki friends who help you in battles, of course. I mean, 95% of people who join a clan join it for this reason, and those who do not join a clan still want people who help them in battles. After all, you know those battles which are closely-matched? The ones you really want someone who you can rely upon to help you? Would it not be so much better to have Tanki friends you can rely on to help you in those battles? Again, a pretty obvious one. In ordinary Tanki battles, you learn a general amount of skills. But those skills can only take you so far, and there are certainly other people out there with more skills than you. If you join a clan, you can get taught by these "experts" to learn their skills. It's a lot harder to learn skills from others when you barely know them! Also, when it comes down to clan battles, there are a lot of things that can be learned which you cannot learn in an ordinary battle. These things can normally only be taught by someone with experience: skills that can only be learned in a clan. Learning from more experienced and more skilled tankmen is another great reason to be in a clan. Believe it or not, being in a clan gives you more crystals. There are obvious ways: clan tournaments which your clan can take part in and potentially win, the ability to win more crystals with your clan helping you, clans letting you get the gold box if you have a weaker garage, and such like. But most clans also often have that one really rich person who can buy crystals for other clan members... and who knows, that other clan member that they buy for might be you next time! I have to admit, parkour is one aspect of Tanki that never really caught my fancy. Maybe it was because I have never been good at it, or whether I simply find it boring, but I simply do not enjoy it. Even so, most tankmen do. Parkour is one of the most popular non-playing aspects of tanki, and one of the things that many tankmen enjoy doing in Tanki to pass the time. And how better to do parkour than with a group of tankmen from one clan all working together? Simply, being in a clan means you have more people who you can work with in any normal Tanki battle. And for most people, working together in any game is always more enjoyable, especially when it normally results in a victory. With a clan, you could do that far more often – after all, teamwork in a game is what a clan is all about! Some people do not enjoy having friends over the Internet, but I for one think that making friends over the Internet is a great thing to do. And a clan, in any online game, can be an amazingly great way to make friends with people who enjoy the same online game as you do. There are so many people who have made great friends online, many of whom have been part of a clan in any of the numerous online games. You could make friends too in a clan! Why not a Tanki Online clan, if you really enjoy the game? Ever wanted to talk about tanki with people? If so, join a clan! Conversations in a clan chat are generally more helpful than server chat conversations, by the way - so don't think of the average level of conversation in the server chat and translate it into a clan. So there you go. So far, I've give seven reasons to be in a clan. But yet, some of you are probably still not convinced. You guys probably realise that everything I've said so far can be done with a group of tankmen who like to chat together. After all, you hardly need to be a clan to work together in a battle, of course. You could form a tanki skype chat instead, or a group of people on a Tanki forum, or a xat chat, or whatever strikes your fancy. But why, I say, be a group and not be a clan? What are the advantages in solely being based on a skype chat? There is no difference in being a group of tankmen from a clan, except for the inability to fight official clan wars and take part in clan tournaments. So why not be a clan as well, if you are part of a group of tankmen regularly contacting each other and fighting together? You may as well create a topic on the forum and act as a clan. There are also numerous advantages of being a clan, which a tanki club or group cannot bring. These are: Clan wars are always a good learning experience. And how can you play in official wars, where gameplay is the most intense, if you are not in a clan? Clan wars are a Tanki experience not to be missed, especially when they are official and have lots of pride at stake. Only official clans can take part in such wars. Why not? Clan tournaments are great fun to compete in with your Tanki friends, clan tournaments like the ToF and similar tournaments. Competing in a clan tournament or working together to win a clan contest is a really good reason for joining a clan, and one that can bring the most out of Tanki. If you are passionate about tanki, what is better than being winning things in a team in the game you are so passionate about? You never know about this one... some of the best Russian clans were recently invited to take part in a test of the upcoming gamemode, currently called DOM. What other goodies are the developers' lining up only for the clans to test? And there you have it. Ten reasons why YOU should be in a clan. Of course, all these reasons are not universal, and people will be convinced by some and not the others. And yes, I know that some people have very legitimate reasons for not being in a clan. But even so, there are many very good reasons for joining a clan, which I outlined above. Being in a clan is something very special in Tanki and an opportunity, if you are an avid Tanki player, not to be missed. -
There is no age limit. The content and ability is only being judged. Not pictures or fancy text, although they make the article look better.
