Why not? It was a somewhat sensible explanation. People were mining "Helium-3" on the Moon, which turned out to be a great alternate energy source, which was used to power all modern vehicles, including tanks. It was so valuable, that it caused people to go to war over it and after the war it was converted into currency, by the name of "Energo", where 1 unit was a small pellet of these blue-ish crystals of Helium-3. That's the official theory. I'm interested in reading what you come up with.

Perhaps you're right, but you don't have any evidence to prove that, nor do I have evidence to disprove you, so I think we should just leave it there. I do agree that some players are leaving due to bad updates, but I don't think it's the major factor.

Yes, also due to the game simply getting old, so players are finding better games and moving on to them. This is why Unity is being developerd - to refresh the project.

There have been two books (in Russian) published about Tanki Online and how it originated, but yeah - you did get the general idea. Basically there were these "Dark times" where a war over resources broke out across the globe and everybody started inventing war machines in order to win. the game's tanks were one of the things that were invented and they were used in actual battles, but after the war they were just abandoned, so it was someone's idea to use them in set-up matches on closed arenas as a form of entertainment (like gladiator battles), because all other conventional entertainment was lost in the war and could not be restored due to resource crisis.
