Honestly.... it's beginning to look like it would be cheaper to go out and buy one of these items that you really want by the brand name you really want than to buy all these crystals and get what they have. Just being truthful. I'm seeing people spend mega bucks on silly balloons! Of course, this revenue driven marketing is designed for one thing: Create cashflow for Tanki. Nothing wrong with being Russian capitalists, nothing at all. As long as you, the buyer, really understand what you are getting for your rubles (I meant dollars or Euros or British Pounds, what ever your currency is in your country). Here in the US we just call this the LOTTO, and you know what your chances are for winning that one. Think about it. :shock:

Well in reality without knowing more about your playing style and your goals, plus what you already have in your garage, you are setting yourself up for some very simplistic answers. Going for the m2 dictator sounds like the logical answer and I would agree with it in principle. But it depends on what you are really attempting to do. It may be a short range fix. Are you looking to be an aggressive player who is a hard core combat kind of guy and kills are important? Are you more of a player who wants to go for the flag? Do you like long range combat or close up front personal combat? Or are points more important to you? And the crystals that you get.... do you only get them by playing the game? Think ahead to the other kinds of hulls/turrets you want also and be thinking about what you will need to do to get them as you goal as well. So looking at the big picture counts as much as what you think you might want to do now. Just something to consider.

All this talk about translators! Look, you better not only be proficient in your native tongue, but you better be pretty proficient in the language that you say you want to translate to as well, and sorry dudes, but what I've seen here is a nice try but not exactly close. Fair, but not quite. I worked in interpreting Spanish for some time, so I know a bit about translating languages. Nice that someone gave instructions in Portuguese and gave a link to apply in that language, that was considerate. I can't. No falo portuguese! Well, not much anyway, but enough to know when something is wrong. So bottom line, if you want to be a linguist and/or translator, make sure your skill level is appropriate! (Oh, and don't give me that nonsense about online translators. The first time you look up the word "buns" in one of those and you wanted hamburger buns and you use it and you find out after you get your face slapped that the word that you used means the buns of your butt..... then tell me how great online translators are!). But yeah, for general conversation, some online translators are ok. They will mess up, but you at least might get some of your message across. :)

Someone already got a number 6, so number 7 is rage quit and find another game on the server or go to another server! (Sad, but people do that!)

Should be even more expensive! Some are drugged all the time during the game. What sense does it have? I have to agree to a limit with yonsneg. Drugging in a game can get really out of hand and turn what is a great game into a total fiasco. Now if you want to talk expensive, let's look at M3 Shaft or some of the paints available. You can easily spend 60-70 USD just for one item! And for some players in some countries this may be totally out of reach. Just a thought.

Well the first thing (in spite of the derision you have endured by some comments in this thread) is to determine what skills and background you have that would qualify you to be a staff member. Just "I wanna be one" obviously will not be enough. What's your background? Have you ever been a staff member for any type of online game before? If not, what makes you believe you could qualify to be one here? Maybe if you do not have the qualifications to be one, you might be able to see if someone who is would be willing to give you a few good suggestions as to how to improve so that some day you will qualify. Although they may not have the time to personally mentor you, if you are sincere and determined, I am sure that they will be willing to help out a bit. And don't be discouraged by anyone who says things to you that may not be kind. Just because someone points a finger at you and says you aren't qualified, you're not good enough, you're not as good as this guy or that girl, don't let it get to you. Be what you want, go for what you want. You may experience some failure, but failure is a teacher. If you are smart, you can learn from your mistakes and not be beaten by them. Don't let anyone tell you that you are a failure. You only fail if you stop trying. If your goal is to be a Moderator, find out what you need to know to get there. Good luck.

I think what will happen is we'll all dance around the May Pole hanging on to the streamers on it and end up tying each other up. That's what will happen. :twisted:

Here's a few in no particular order: 1. The player in the game who takes a flag and will not put it away and runs from the rest of his team mates because he just wants to be annoying or wants to be in first place. 2. You are in a tight game, you get a flag, and people won't get out of your way to capture the flag! 3. The guy who constantly blows you up no matter how hard you try to get him! (lol!) 4. When the tanks in the game start spinning in circles because the game has messed up! 5. Once in a while you get the white screen with the question mark in it and you're out of the game! (I know there's solutions to 4 & 5, but just saying it's frustrating!) 6. Not understanding a thing that is going on in a game because the rest of the players speak Russian. Well, that's just a few. Just an observation. Thanks.

Now here's a suggestion: Why couldn't we have something that looks like those as signatures for players in the forum?? Although I know we all like the forum and use it as a place for learning, it would really add some color to what is otherwise a very bland forum. A little color would be great! And with each player having their own signature or combined with their clan, I think it would lend itself to more participation within the community on the forum. And there could be a section for those who are creative and who could assist players in making their signature, thus encouraging more community participation. I think it would be great! How about it article writers and mods, what say you?? (Please!) :) And yes, you could limit it so that one is for their personal signature and one for their clan or a combination. (Please!)

Hmmm that actually makes sense. But when was war ever logical, lol!

What I was trying to say is that, just like the interviews, some info solicited by the article writers from the clan leaders about their clans would be nice. For example, who the leader is, what type of player they are looking for, their clan philosophy, simple stuff that is just a generalized template of questions that an interviewer could ask. Just maybe 5-6 questions about the clan that would help us know them a little. That way there is no biased "slant" towards any one clan and opinion is not infused into the article. Just like a news report. There could be like 3-5 interviewed per month or so, and this would help us all get to know them better. Then we could follow your suggestion of seeing how it suits us. Just an idea.

Hmmm, maybe apart from seeing some good artwork (hopefully!) it will give clans some exposure to those of us who want to know more about them.

Nice article. I have found that Koolwalky is a very good moderator! I have seen how he has handled some situations and I have been impressed with his ability. Something he said in the article really stuck with me, about how he only plays with his friends and not strangers. He's right about one thing If you meet an English speaking player, it seems unlikely that you will meet them again in Tanki. As a person who found Tanki on their own with no connection to anyone, I have found it very difficult to connect with anyone in the English speaking community. I have been here only since January of this year, and it's only been like in the last three days or so that I have begun to find anyone in chat that I speak with regularly. And then only because I happened to stumble upon these two guys when I was put into a certain server. So I am glad to see this newspaper because I think it will help us as an English speaking community to get to know each other and perhaps make friends. I am here because I enjoy the game and it has kept me here. But I sometimes wonder, as good as Tanki Online is, if some players may leave because they have not been able to make that connection. Now that we have a voice in the newspaper (ok, the forums are alright too!), I think we shall see the English speaking community come together and become stronger. Nice job on the interview with Koolwalky!

Thanks for the FAQ. I think more exposure about the various English speaking clans is good. Perhaps some info on them, their leaders and leadership style, etc. in the newspaper will help those of us who are considering joining a clan will help us out in making a selection.
