    [Issue 1] Our Stories *

Thanks for the nice article on these players. As a "member" of the English community and having no connection to anyone starting this game, I've found it difficult to make connections with the English community and develop friends. Almost every game I am in is filled with Russian players and I never understand what is going on. So it is good that we now have this newspaper where we can all start to make connections. I am a 3rd Lt on the verge of making 2nd Lt (I need like 1200 points!). Keep up the great work! Those of us who come here as individuals may find people we can connect with and enjoy the game more. Especially for those of us who want to join English speaking clans or get into battles with more English speaking players. Thanks to everyone who is participating in making this newspaper. Great info, great articles!

I have seen Roy Jones Jr in games, and yes, he is very competitive! Makes for a good game having players like that!

    [Issue 1] Clans *

Very informative, thanks. I've looked over some of the info about clans in the forum while thinking about selecting one. Found it a bit cumbersome. I guess you really have to be determined going through all of it to make a good selection!
  5. Nice article, really enjoyed it! The opinions on the various tanks help a player see the value in each one and could play a definite part in their selections when upgrading, especially if they hope to join a clan. Good work!

    Question about May Day

Seriously people, no one seems to know the importance of May Day in Russia. For those of you who do not remember the former Soviet Union, here it is: During the era of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (CCCP), May Day was called the International Worker's Day. The worker was supposed to benefit from being a member of the Soviet Union under Communism, but I think most of us know how that turned out. Anyway, it was a time when there were big parades and the Soviets would parade their newest weapons down the street to show off to the population and scare the Capitalists. There leaders made speeches all about how they would defeat the Capitalists, etc. Now that there is no Soviet Union, Russians mostly just use it as a holiday for families. After all, winter is gone and now is a good time to celebrate! Planting season is coming up, summer is right around the corner, and it's time off from work. Anyone would understand that, right? Let's just hope that May Day never goes back to what it once was in Russia. There are a few around who want to see the former Soviet Union restored, but we in the rest of the world hope that never happens. Well, my opinion, of course.

    shaft is overpowered

the weak ones are quite easy to take down. the ones with hornet/viking hull of m0/1 but it is harder for the high ranked shafts with m3 mammy on protected paints. m3 shaft can kill weak hulls in 2-3 tap shots(not full charge) i once killed an m3 mammoth shaft by placing a mine right behind his tank and nudge his tank jst a bit. he turns around KABOOM! hahahaha, very inventive, ingenious! I really enjoyed that!

    shaft is overpowered

Again you with your smart ideas? If you wouldn't had jade you would be killed with 1st kick. So now I with shaft I should demamnd jade should be removed? Or thunders' splash efect should be removed? ... or... Or ricos hits may not bounce...? If Shaft is not covered with another weapon (especially isida) is mostly completely helples if you have enough skills. But seems you don't have. Second - as Micky3 wrote you To illumuinate you: - angle of shafts view (sniper mode - only that has that "kick") is about 10 degrees. You (all other weapons) have about 60. You can move when you aim and shoot - shaft can't. More I won't help you. Grow up and get skills! Good player never complain about shafts - they are able to kill them. M3 shaft is quite decent weapon, with M2 shaft is really difficult to survive if skilled players are in game, anything below M2 is burden, not a weapon. As a Shaft owner, I agree with his comments. I've not seen many people even refer to the fact that the real role of the Shaft here is as a SNIPER in the view of many players, not a run and gun combatant. You can use it that way to an extent, but most people use it in a sniping capacity. The Shaft can be powerful, but it has major weaknesses. All the whining and complaining here is really beyond reason. Each type of turret and hull has its place. Your job as a player is not to whine and complain, but to use your head, be a smart player, use some strategy and for heaven's sake use some team play. I see way too many players who go at it as if the game is all about them by themselves and get blasted to smithereens or get in the way of other players and just over all destroy the game. If you would take a few moments to cooperate and coordinate a bit, you might find this game to be a lot more fun. As a Shaft owner, I do run into players that do not make it easy to use a Shaft. So I change weapons and come back into the game if things get that bad and I can still make up for any loss of crystals. The thing to remember is that this is supposed to be fun. If we spend our time whining and complaining about each others weapons, that's to no avail. Just an opinion.

    shaft is overpowered

Being all drugged up does not require skill at all. It's just an advantage where you have doubled everything from armor to firepower to speed. That's not skill at all. Sorry, but I disagree, but your point is well taken. A heavy tank with the right firepower, drugging and paint can be a turn around against any type of tank.
  10. Well what a thread! I started reading this thread hoping to learn a bit from the forum. Instead, what I ended up seeing was a "flame war" between community and the Mods. Bad enough that the community engaged in this but TOTALLY shameful that Mods engaged in this type of behavior. I find this truly amazing that Mods who work for Tanki would lower their standards as to get caught up in an emotional and totally unproductive flame war with any member of the community. This is totally unprofessional and should never happen. I realize that we are all human and prone to sometimes react emotionally to things, but Mods are supposed to live by a higher standard in this forum as opposed to the community at large. Mods are suppose to "moderate", to keep things in line in a reasonable way, not to engage in flame wars with the community. I am surprised that someone who supervises the Mods did not put a stop to this quickly. It does not seem very mature for Mods to do this. And Mods should live by the rule of "Think before you type" because once it's out in the community, it's there forever. It presents a very bad image of Tanki Online and as staff members (even as volunteers) when Mods engage in flame wars. Mods should never, ever engage in that type of activity, regardless of any commentary made by community members. I hope to see this forum be a place where the community can share its ideas and viewpoints. And if a community member gets out of line and expresses themselves in an inappropriate way, I would hope that he Moderator staff would have the maturity and professionalism to deal with it correctly, not add to it and lower the respect the community should have to them in doing so. Just expressing my opinion. Thanks.

    Suggestion - Signatures

Actually, I've seen several games where players have developed their own signature as their forum signature, kind of like a banner at the end of their posts that has their game user name and some sort of colorful pictures with it about themselves, clans or teams. It adds a lot of variety to what otherwise is a bland, colorless forum. And other players like to see how creative other players can be. It adds a lot to the forum and the game, keeps the community involved, and gives each player a way to express themselves and be part of the gaming community. I've never used one, but I would support this idea. This forum is rather dull in that the most you can add is an emoticon in you post. Bleh! Everyone can do that any where. So if Tanki really wants to get their players involved, you could allow your players to do that and really "own" the forums as part of their community giving them a stronger sense of belonging. After all, you want your players to feel that way, right? Like they belong here? And you may get a lot more forum participation too. Just an idea.
  12. Oh, I am sure there are many new things tanki could add. But first, they are trying to get this done right as their base for future development, I would think. TheGoodTheBadTheUgly said, " or they could make smoky fires like machine guns. imagine that". Well, what if they added limited tactical nuclear weapons to the mix! How about that for extreme, lol! :D Then things would really get crazy in Tanki! (OK, I'm not serious, just having fun!

    Thunder

Very well done and very well thought out. I wish I had seen this sort of thing when I first got my Thunder. I found out most of what you said by trial and error, so a good guide would have helped me be better! I like the Thunder/Viking combo. It makes me almost as powerful as using a Shaft as far as damage is concerned. But Shaft is really for sniping. The Thunder is for straight up combat, better firing rate than a Shaft. I have M3 Thunder/M3 Viking. Have not gotten to M3 Shaft, but that will take a long time and a lot of saving up crystals! So if I feel like being more aggressive in a fight, I'll go with the Thunder. Thanks for the great guide!

the difference between playing with noob/amateur/semipro/pro

Well you have an interesting interpretation of what makes a person a noob, amateur, semi-pro and pro. According to you, it's all about rank. I respectfully disagree. I have seen many up and coming players who are really good at the game, rank notwithstanding. It isn't all about rank, in my opinion. It's about being skillful with whatever you have at your disposal, utilizing the turrets and hulls that you have access to at whatever rank you are at. Using strategy and being a smart player outranks having good equipment and not using it very wisely. I've seen some guys with Smokey and a lesser hull tear up some higher ranks and wreak havoc in a game. Even tearing up people with a Shaft and causing all kinds of commotion. So rank is not necessarily a true measure of being semi-pro or even pro. Just because a person has high rank and good turrets and hulls does not mean they are the only good players in the game. But I will agree when you on this: get with a lot of players who have the best equipment and high rank, that it is a challenge and very interesting. Just an opinion.

The New Tankmen 24/7 Streaming Radio!!

Well, I used to be a DJ when I was in college, but that was a long time ago. I'm probably too old school music wise for most of the players in this game. But it would be fun! Good luck with your radio project!

Who is the best nonbuyer here?

Come on guys, there are 10,000,000 players and you want to know who the best non-buyer is? Well, define best. Let's start there. Every guy with an ego is going to claim to be the best. I don't think you will ever get a real answer to that question.

    ZQFMBG's Guide to Tanki

Ummm, he did say he would add more later. So far a good job and very clear. I've seen some guides that are just too technical, and I think for most players this is laid out so that they will understand the basics of each turret. A discussion of hulls along with this will make it more complete. Nice job.

    Tanki or Tanks online?

Nice analysis none the less, good effort. I will confess you really had me going for a minute and I thought I had totally misunderstood the question. But after getting tot he bottom of your post, I see that I was correct. Not nice to confuse us community members, lol!

On April 15 the 1.75.0 release

Well, I've played a few long games over the last few days and I am happy to say that they have all been hacker free! Congratulations to Tanki on making this happen. Sure, there are going to be some things which some of us are not going to be happy about. I might not even be happy about a few things, but let's give the guys at Tanki a break. They have a difficult job and they are trying their best to make this work out for us. I don't think there's any "perfect" game out there that doesn't have a few people unhappy about something, but at least we can see that these guys are making an effort to do better. Perhaps we should at least give them some encouragement for the efforts they are making. Good job and keep it up!

Discuss the rank limits in battle creation

Great to see the community expressing their opinions! Some in favor of the changes, some not. But the bottom line is: It is what it is. Tanki online is evolving and we shall need to evolve with it. Perhaps if someone has a difference of opinion with Tanki regarding changes and lays them out in a logical manner, Tanki might listen. As a customer, I would hope so. If we just react emotionally expressing dislike, it will change nothing. But if you have a plan and an alternative that makes sense, perhaps it might be implemented. Good luck everyone and have fun!

K.L.E.R.I.K and other noob shaft in ns Tribute

Treating other players in a rude and condescending manner is not going to win you any popularity contests. Neither is it going to get you any support for your opinion. If you don't like something and you disagree with someone, you should do so without demeaning other people and insulting them. Right now in this entire discussion you are the one who looks bad. And even if you are right, people probably don't feel like giving you much support the way you treat the community and other players. Nothing personal, but perhaps you should think about that before you make a reply. As my Grandmother used to say, "A wise man thinks before he speaks, and a fool speaks and then thinks about what he has said". Don't make yourself look like a fool. Present your opinion and do so respectfully. You might not only gain support for your opinion, but people will respect you as well.

K.L.E.R.I.K and other noob shaft in ns Tribute

You said that! 15 or more player try to make battle for themselves becouse they want to play THAT kind of battle. Smarty, can you explain me this? We are on 3 differrent server (eng, ru, de) and we dont know each other (through Skype, FB or whatever). How will others see PRIVATE link which someone post on english server?? This whole string, except your reply, is in English. It looks as if you understand enough English to read it and then make a reply. To do so in another language except English is rude, at best when this entire thread is in English. It appears as if you did not want the English speakers to understand your reply. Perhaps you are making a point in another language to explain to non-English speakers what is happening, I don't know. But if you are, you should explain that to the English speakers. Let's all try to respect each other no matter what language we speak and treat each other with respect.
