You don't need the battle pass for this. In fact it won't benefit you in any way towards winning this war and winning an animated paint. A premium account on the other hand will make it twice as easy (or half as hard) to win. It's a trade-off between spending more time and spending more money. So you're right, in that sense it is kind of like real life. ;) This is an additional event to the challenge in March. You'll be able to earn all sorts of rewards for completing the tiers.

I can't speak for the lower modifications but at M3(+) it's definitely not underpowered. I've been using nothing but Ricochet in the last couple of weeks and not once did I feel like changing my turret. Ricochet was never to blame whenever my team lost or when I performed badly (that's my driving skills.. or lack thereof).

We'll definitely take that into consideration. The reason there's an overview on the first page is that it's easy to find (compared to anywhere else in the topic) and it's where players who discover this topic will start from.

Could be a glitch where you did receive the rewards, but didn't see the pop-up. To be sure you didn't miss out on the rewards, I'd recommend contacting the help desk about it nonetheless.

Then the change from 3 to 6 weekly containers is a positive one for you. Weekly containers contain a set amount of rewards, unlike normal containers. You're forgetting one thing though. 3rd Lieutentants that complete 20 missions a week will not stay on that rank for long. As they rank, the rewards in weekly containers increase, whereas the rewards in normal containers are the same for all ranks. And that right there is what's causing a lot of misconceptions, both about the EULA itself and the balance updates TO is rolling out from time to time. As players, we're users of the game, not owners. If we make a purchase with money, we pay for the experience, we pay to use a certain item or items. I don't mean to disregard your feedback about the balance changes though, just wanted clear this up.

I wouldn't know, but if they do, you'll hear about it soon enough in one of the V-LOGs.
