  1. Please read the first post carefully, all instructions on how to enter are included in there. Saving images onto a computer should be common knowledge. If your entry is some sort of a drawing, take an image of it with a camera/smartphone, plug the device into your computer, browse the files of the device, find the image, upload it to an image hosting site, and then post the image in the forum. If you are using computer software to draw your entry, you almost certainly should be saving it onto your computer in the first place, and after you're done you can upload it and post it here. And yes, you did do the spoiler correctly.

Which paint looks the best on XP M3?

Tough pick. In my opinion, Hohloma and Sakura look the most fitting on M3 XP, but Jade, Metallic, and Reporter aren't unattractive by any means either. Team International also looks quite fantastic, but it'll blow your cover from across the map. :P

    Refund our paints!

I don't think this would be very helpful. In the rebalance, the statistics of all the turrets and hulls were changed, so players had their equipment refunded since they might not have liked the new statistics and would have bought other equipment given the changes. They might not have ended up with what they paid for, basically. In the case of the latest update, while the prices of flashier paints have shot up, you still own what you paid for, just in 2 different portions now. I'm not a fan of the increased paint prices, seeing as how a large portion of the paints have been basically made XTs, i.e. very expensive cosmetic items with no tangible gameplay benefit, but at the same time I don't think this necessitates a do-over since it's fundamentally different from what occurred in the rebalance. You still have all your old stuff, and it's still working how it's supposed to be.

    Let's Discuss Shaft!

I use keyboard controls exclusively. I will admit that mouse controls are nice for long-range sniping and long term camping, but in heated battles, my reflexes work much better with keyboard controls- I can "sweep" my aim and let go when an opponent is in my crosshairs. I've found that it's harder for me to do those kind of reactive, twitch shots with the mouse. The key advantage of mouse controls in my experience is the ability to hide your laser sight by aiming at the ground, holding right click, and then being able to aim in a pretty good radius while the laser sight is still hidden. You can then acquire an enemy, let go of right click, wait for the crosshairs to line up, and let go of left click to fire, all at optimal speed.

    Paint Separation Update

Currently, Zeus takes 749,890 (~750k) crystals to micro-upgrade. I don't know how much the modules will cost to MU, but I'm fairly sure that it won't be more expensive than that since the starting total protection (105% vs 100%) is highly similar and the end protection (150% vs. 150%) is the same. I'd actually be pretty happy if it only cost 400k. ;)

    Paint Separation Update

I think that your special paints (Silver and Gladiator) will have their protections stripped tomorrow, unfortunately, but the developers will be able to add them back individually. If they do it for everyone (they ought to try), you should be able to get your protections back when they get to you. In the meantime, I suppose you can use the modules of your M3 paints. You'll be able to micro-upgrade all 4 parameters of Prodigi to the maximum (10-50-43-29) with the same steps. Nothing will change with regards to your Prodigi's protection and potential.

    Ideas for Turrets!

That sounds like a cool turret that would be fun to use, but fundamentally I think it would be too powerful. Currently, Shaft is the most powerful turret in the game in terms of maximum damage and range, but it suffers from a charge up time, poor arcade shot damage, and the need to expose oneself to charge up a shot. A turret with remote-controlled missiles capable of matching Shaft in damage and with the reload of Thunder would be infuriating to fight against, since the user could literally camp in a hole or in the back of their base and score kills every 2-3 seconds. There would also be almost no way to hide from such a missile. The non-seeking mode wouldn't see much use since the player could just fire a full power shot at closer distances with not many downsides. With the existing turrets in the game, the only ones that can hit targets out of the line of sight are Thunder and Ricochet. The former requires that you shoot the environment to do it, which is tricky, has a limited radius, and does not deal much damage, and the latter requires that you stay pretty close in order to get the most out of the bounced shots. A remote control missile with significant flight time would be able to basically nullify cover while the user remains in perfect safety, which would be highly annoying and too strong.

Issues with Premium Accounts - Work in Progress

According to Cedric, the programmers started working at 8:00 local time. The issue appears to have been resolved around 12:30 AM local time, so that's overall a little over 16 hours if they were working continuously. In any case, we can agree that their work day was really long. ;)

Issues with Premium Accounts - Work in Progress

Woohoo! Bravo to the developers and other staff for resolving this issue. I'm sure it took a lot of hard work, a lot of time (~16 hours), and a lot of coffee. Your efforts are greatly appreciated, and you guys deserve a good rest.

Can someone please explain what is going on?

I lost my PRO pass. Others players are also having issues with making battles and losing Premium, but I can still make battles. I can also still access ratings. I'm inclined to think that someone made a mistake during the server update, possibly something to do with the unusual state of the test server or the upcoming paint update. Hopefully this will be resolved soon.

    Let's Discuss Smoky!

The game calls it Smoky. Besides, "Smoky" is the proper spelling for everyday use, meaning "filled with smoke". "Smokey" is a name and is generally not correlated with smoke.

    Let's Discuss Shaft!

I agree that some Shafts act like what seems to have happened in your experience (i.e. staring a single spot and not moving for the entire match, being generally useless), but to write all Shafts off as useless is inaccurate. When using Shaft in CTFs, I typically figure out if my team needs defense (in which case I will watch over friendly territory and our flag) or fire support (in which case I will move up and snipe defenders). I will also keep an eye on any teammate with the flag if they are running into trouble regardless of my position, and snipe enemy flag carriers, which allows teammates to more easily return the flag. A good Shaft can scare the enemy team into staying in cover instead of attacking or exposing themselves, which frees up other defenders to join the fight. Having too many Shafts or having bad Shafts is bad for a team, but a good Shaft is highly useful and not a liability.

    [Issue 55] Creative Vandalism!

Do you like to break things? Paint things? Graffiti things? Hopefully you don't in real life, but if you enjoy any of those activities in TO, this contest is for you! Simply put, the objective of this contest is to use shot marks left by turrets on the environment to draw something. Do you want to draw a meme? A portrait? Text? The Mona Lisa? Those are all fine. Even "BLAME THE NS" is fine. The possibilities are limited only by how many buddies you're able to get together and coordinate, how quickly you can draw your art, your imagination... oh, and the rules too. Rules Vulgar, profane, or otherwise inappropriate submissions are not allowed. Once you're done with your masterpiece, take a screenshot and upload it to an image hosting site (like imgur.com). Then, post it here, either as a link to the screenshot or as an image hidden by spoiler tags. Take another screenshot immediately afterwards with the full battle window visible and the scoreboard up. Upload and hold onto this one- you don't necessarily have to post it here, but I will want to see it if I'm considering your entry. List everyone who participated in making your drawing. Don't reserve posts, they'll just get hidden. Try not to make your image too big. If it's larger than the width of the forum or really tall, link it instead of posting it here and spoilering it. 2 submissions per person are allowed, but only 1 submission per person can win. I suggest that you take additional images of your drawing from multiple angles if possible and hold on to them. I trust you guys to not try to photoshop drawings in this contest, but I reserve the right to ask for proof if something looks fishy. I'm going to be mostly looking for complexity, difficulty, and creativity. Think outside the box. Prizes Everybody loves prizes. In this contest, I encourage you to use multiple people to facilitate creating more complex pieces of art, but I also don't want overkill- use only as many teammates as you need. As such, the prize amounts will be a little unorthodox for this contest. Each winning submission will get a flat sum of crystals plus a bonus amount of crystals per team member, to be evenly divided between participants. Consolation prizes will just receive a flat sum. I might adjust the values in the future if deemed necessary since this is a prize model that hasn't been done before. 1st Place: 30,000 crystals + 5,000 per team member 2nd Place: 20,000 crystals + 4,000 per team member 3rd Place: 15,000 crystals + 3,000 per team member Consolation Prize: 10,000 crystals Suggestions The following turrets will leave shot marks on the environment and can be used for your art. Hammer- numerous small marks, good if you want to have random small dots, but rather difficult to aim. Twins- light burn marks with decent size. You can repeatedly fire at the same spot for increased darkness, but they fade quickly. Hard to use. Smoky- good sized, furrowed marks at a rapid pace. Not terribly difficult to use. Thunder- large, dark burn marks with slight furrowing. Not that hard to use. Railgun- small, dark marks. Similar to those of Smoky, but more irregular. Takes some practice to place shots accurately. Shaft- medium sized, dark holes. Easiest to use out of all these turrets for art purposes due to the scope mode and will probably make the bulk of your drawings. You can also use some mines in your drawing if you really need/want too, but don't go overboard with them. Your art should be primarily made of shot marks. Remember that shot marks will fade after a while, which is why you'll need others to help you if you want to make complex drawings. If you feel like having Firebird flames or Freeze spray with your image would be visually impressive, that's fine. Or any other type of shot, really. You can draw on any surface you want as long as the art is clearly visible and it's big enough. Walls, large props, and even the ground are fair game. The game will start disappearing shot marks more quickly if there are too many objects on the map. I haven't confirmed all of these factors experimentally, but it seems like having too many players, too many supply boxes, or playing on too large of a map can impact the duration of your art. Basically, try to keep things minimal. Make sure everyone is present (including any Spectators) before you start drawing. Otherwise, players joining in late will not be able to see any shot marks created before they entered the battle. Alright, that's about it. If you're interested, go out there and make a cool piece of artwork. This contest will be open until August 26, so you've got a lot of time to get started. Good luck.

    Let's Discuss Smoky!

That post was made three years ago by a user who has been banned since then. Just a tip, when you click on the title of a topic in a forum, you are directed to the first page. The first page of a topic as old as this is bound to consist of posts from long ago by users who might not be active anymore. If you want to see the latest discussion, click the latest page. :) I find that I still use my M2 Smoky a lot despite owning M3 Thunder, mostly because Thunder paints are really common these days. Kits like Medic, Raiden, and Cardinal haven't helped with the problem. Thunder is more useful in a Polygon CP if there aren't many protection paints around, due to its splash damage, but if not, Smoky rarely lets me down. I can't wait for M3 Smoky.

What to buy? Which is better?

M1 Hunter is great- practically speaking, it's an improved M1 Viking since it's superior in the two most important statistics. If it's no good, then M1 Viking would be worse.
