    Can someone point me to the update description that gave Firebird instant kill? What combination of drones, alterations, et al., give Firebird over 6000 dps? Ricosck, a full M4 Dictator, died twice in one or two ticks (a half-second or faster). Riconot, an M2 Hornet died three times as the fire came on, instant. Instant! As fast as a fully charged Shaft shot. I either missed an update, or there are some new hacks. I suppose we will always have bread and circuses.

  5. Lag is still terrible. It isn't constant for me, but it is too often and almost always has me respawning, being left with no ability to defend myself.
  6. I find myself wondering why the April Challenge isn't up in the Wiki yet. Then I realize, it is because the April Challenge is so pathetic. Better not advertise. It is a blatant effort to induce cash payments for the second tier and Premium. Yeah, that makes sense, I suppose. Gotta pay the bills.

    Maybe, but I didn't see them being inactive. Well, the Wasp-Isida did hide behind a building for the last minute, but we were behind by fifty already, but I saw everyone else trying. The other team seemed to be coordinated. They all climbed to the high ground and concentrated fire (and it seems they were all Thunder or Rico). It was absurdly hopeless. It was an inverse spawn-kill from the beginning. There can never be teams in MM, right? Yeah, sure. Everyone of the other team purposefully climbed to the bridge and concentrated fire. The kills I got were just the one of them that would venture away from the pack, and the one or two of them I managed to catch before they could get back on the bridge. My point is the match was absurdly unbalanced. The rank spread was small. Perhaps the three pointless-majors were deliberate mults. Perhaps the players of the other team have figured out how to coordinate both sides. Perhaps Tanki's much vaunted fix for the Battle Groups has already been thwarted. Perhaps the three scoreless-majors were playing only effectively enough to convince me they were trying. Regardless, I don't think it mattered. The other team was simply overwhelming. Matchmaker doesn't work, and it is hopeless. It cannot be fixed. There are too many parameters to try to control for, most of which are subjective and impossible to write algorithms for. Tanki must provide full rewards for all nonprivate battles, MM or Pro. All missions, all challenges, all war-type events. Let everyone choose, and at least we can pick our poison rather than be stuffed into a hopeless battle seconds before it ends. (And then wait two minutes for the next match to start.) My primary frustration is spending my full effort in a hopeless battle and being deprived of my earned reward because Tanki is too petty. Of course, I could have left, but then I am intentionally contributing to the problem. That just isn't something I can stand.

    Tanki, you are doing it wrong! It is broke, and you won't fix it. I just completed two rounds with Riconot in 1st or second place, just like this one, but only one player could manage to get stars-reward. Second place was not enough. Drowning_Puppies was obviously sniping with the Magnum and being a total bore, and probably the least active player on our team. Yet, you deprive the rest of us star-rewards! Why!?!? You defraud us. You despise us. Note that this match happened so fast I couldn't build up even one Overdrive. Tanki, I honestly believe you despise all players that play less than 20 hours per week. I believe you want rid of all of us who give you no money each month. Answer, please. Why? Why do you treat us like dirt?

    April 2019: The War of Thrones!

    I checked three times last night and couldn't find it. I started checking my other accounts this morning and find it. Either I was having a fit of blindness, or it wasn't there the first couple of hours after 02:00 UTC. It might be worth adding to the information and instructions page that it is supposed to be the first of your unowned paints in the garage. Point out that it is after all the ones you own, which for some is a lot (and some have all; maybe they found it easy since it was the last paint scrolled to the right.)

    800 stars, 1.5 stars per MM match average, requires 533.3 matches completed. That is over 76 hours assuming 7 matches per hour. 6 per hour is more realistic, which puts the hours up to 89. Over 28 days, that is over 3 hours per day average. Can you play that much? Don't waste the 5000 crystals if you can't or won't. Of course, if you pay cash for Premium, then 1.5 hours per day, everyday for 28 days. Also, consider the fact you will get battles with no stars. Zero messes with the average and lowers it fast. 800 stars could need over 700 battles for players of only average ability. Again, I suggest sitting this one out. Only a 33% chance of getting the containers even if you are over 800 stars. If all players in the war somehow reached 800 stars (which is impossible), two out of three of them would get nothing. Sit this one out and just work on the regular challenge (whatever it turns out to be). Of course if you have been getting over 2000 stars, more power to ya, but you still only have a one in three shot. And another thing: " If your faction wins the War of Thrones, and your Stars score is equal to (or higher than) the average Stars score for your faction, you’ll win..." What if the winning faction has an average of 2100 stars? What if you are on that faction, and you end up with only 2001 Stars. Sorry! Sucks to be you. (Of course, you got the stuff and the skin for the regular Challenge.) Most players should not be wasting their 5000 crystals. (Viki won't. Be smart like Viki.) Regarding the criteria for winning, because the Arbiter will sort the factions evenly, the faction with the highest total stars will be the faction with the highest average stars.

    I encourage anyone that isn't confident of getting at least 1000 stars to sit it out. Each player has only a 33% chance of getting return on the 5000 crystals for the Arbiter. Also, it is after 02:00 UTC. It is 29 March (NOT May). There is no Arbiter to be found. Tanki screwed the date, don't ya suppose? Again, sit this one out. Just do the regular challenge. Save the 5k crystals for something useful.
  12. Lags in every battle no matter what I try. Caches cleared, etc. Internet speed still testing high regardless of test or browser. Frankly, I wonder if they have done it on purpose. I suspect the overdrives aren't actually working, and so they've messed up the frame constructions such that they can blame it all on what they were trying to do for overdrives, and then they will graciously back out of launching them, and fix the lag problem. I'm at least getting through battles, but at various times with lots of moving items on screen, glitching and stuttering starts, and after a few seconds it calms back down, and I'm respawning, not even sure who destroyed who.
  13. I'm seeing lag often. Most matches have at least a few seconds, sometimes several seconds, of laggy, glitchy, stutter-screens. It is impossible to play, especially in melee. It has been getting worse over the last few days.
  14. Lags are getting worse. Most matches have significant issues with stutters and glitching screens. Multiple speedtests with multiple browsers continue to show my internet connection is much better than needed.
  15. Lags, lags, lags! Anyone remember how they admitted the fast rate of weapon effects caused by the Viking overdrive caused the game to lag out? Yeah, everything seems to be doing that now. Too many rockets, too many explosings, too many OD effects, whatever it is, too many happens too often, and lags result. It is impossible to play when lagging. Screen not refreshing while in melee combat means immediate destruction and respawn. We already spend too much time doing the respawns. Fix the lags Tanki. I've never had lags due to my internet. My internet is faster than ever, and it tests clean. Always when lags got this bad, y'all admitted to fixing something that you'd broken in a prior update. Tanki, you broke something. Fix it.

    Lags are bad. Recent changes have messed up ping, frames, and lag. There is too much happening on the screen. It isn't "glitch or bug." It is the game. Recent updates have broken something, and stutter-play is now the norm, where frames drop and ping shoots to maximum. There is a turning problem. It is getting worse. The lags and stutters are part of the problem, but turning can double or triple, shooting turret or tank into a 90° turn instantly. As always, MM sucks. Most matches are woefully lopsided. It isn't getting better!

    Starting with the assumption of 620 stars for a paint, which is probably low, and a full 28 days (which we don't get this time), one needs to average just over 22 stars per day. Guessing, based on gut-feeling alone, ten MM matches will earn the average player 15 stars (double with Premium). Proceeding to calculate without premium, assume 15 or 16 matches every day, or about 110 matches per week. This also assumes a player who bought the pink (winning) paint (as you did). Various arguments can be made, but I think it reasonable to assume 7 matches per hour on average, thus, a little more than two hours per day, or close to 15 hours per week, or about 60 hours total over the four weeks of the challenge. Again, pure guess. If you think my assumptions are off, recalculate with different assumptions. An alternative approach would be to acknowledge we are over half-way through. If you aren't well over 300 stars already, you probably have little chance unless you significantly increase your playing time. Viki figured it out and didn't waste 5000 crystals on the temporary paint. From just the basics of it we should have all realized it was nominally a 5000 crystal bet with a 25% chance (0.25 probability) of paying off with the animated paint. No telling how many players bought the pink or blue paint, but my impression is it was far less than half of the active players. Given that most players with either paint have less than half the average stars, not even 25% of those who forked out the 5k crystals will get the reward. I really think Tanki scored an own-goal on this one. It will leave the majority of players with a bad memory. BTW, remember you have to go to the "special" site, https://tankionline.com/pages/gender_war/?lang=en to check progress. The site seems to be failing to update. 499 to 619 are the numbers I've seen the last few times I checked. So, to win, you need the pink paint and more than 619 stars, presently. And, for the record, I was dumb enough to have bought the temporary paint for Ricosck, and Ricosck has no hope of getting to even the losing level of stars. I'm just guessing, but I think Ricosck plays more than most accounts. Again, just a guess, but only players in MM battles more than 15 hours per week (on a given account) have any hope of getting more than 600 stars (half that time if you have Premium). It is reasonable to suppose a few hundred, maybe a few thousand, players will reach 2000 stars. It wouldn't surprise me if most of those players bought the pink paint. (Maf did, I checked. I expect he gets 2000.) Still, at least three times more players who bought pink or blue paint will not get the animated paint. Since I decided to break my silence and nobody is still reading, I think I'll point out it would be nice if Tanki would disclose some statistics on players. Perhaps they can make a forum page for semiregular updates of various game statistics. There are several statistics that would be helpful to frustrated players in figuring out if things are getting better or worse. It would be especially nice to know the median and arithmetic mean of how many hours players play each week in MM battles and in non-MM battles. Another useful statistic would be the percentage of MM team battles that end early, the percentage that end with zero score for one team and max, or near max for the other, and other statistics that would help us see if MM lopsidedness is getting better or not. Statistics on modes would be encouraging, too. (Is DM most played?) Since such statistics might also show things getting worse, I assume such statistics will never be publicized. I assume that is why such statistics have so rarely been mentioned.

  19. General crappy play the last several days. Glitches, lags, stutters, hangs. These are random. High frames and low ping, then ping skyrockets and scene stutters and sputters. Maybe dozens of plasma balls start catching up. Autocanon and sometimes the 8-rocket alteration seem to matter to short-term stuttering, but the lags and stalls come and go; fortunately not often, but at least for a while every two or three matches. Why the lags all the sudden? What did you do? You did something that is interrupting what used to work. Also, and this isn't recent, Turning! Either the turret or the tank can start turning at double or triple speed instantly and not stop when commanded. What's up with that? That isn't a lag, and it isn't associated with stuttering. It can happen when spawning, or when driving alone to find a foe, or when fighting one-on-one, or when in the heat of battle with multiple tanks. No rhyme or reason other than turning the tank or the turret way past where intended, fast than reflexes can react. Again, this out-of-control turning phenomenon has been occurring for weeks. Fortunately it seldom happens (probably once per about eight matches), but it is bad. Figure it out and fix it. Also, I know it is an intentional frustration feature, but can't you fix the self-destruct glitch when one gets stuck on top of another tank!?!?!?
  20. Props to the ladies. The sound advice is to treat everyone the way you want to be treated, like you actually care about them (and yourself). Momma_Bear, I will no longer be participating in the forums, and Discord is too counterintative for me. With the bullying, I gave up. Not worth trying.

    Some players seem to think the gender war is not over yet, well, technically, it isn't, but results already look ineveitable. My difficulties in registering (authorizing) my paint preference appear moot. There is no way I'm going to exceed the Star average even if my faction wins. My guess is most players have elected not to spend 5000 crystals on a faction paint. Thus, there are not many players participating. (Anybody seen statistics and totals?) It seems to me those participating are playing a great deal. I wonder if that benefits Tanki in real-money income. I suspect the situation is much less than optimum. Fundamentally, this was a 5000 crystal bet on a fairly nice selection of animated paints with odds of winning being 25% (1 in 4). In my view, an overall bust. Another Tanki own-goal. I hold out small hope it will get better. I at least hope I can log in and authorize my preference. Another small hope, Tanki will learn from this mistake. Sadly, there is little evidence over the last two years or so that Tanki can do other than repeat mistakes and make new ones. They never learn, despite assurances from the Mods and Community Manager. BTW, I've seen a few Gentleman paint. I've seen no Lady paint. Are there numbers and stats for how many of each? Why are so few players sporting the War paint?
