The reality is nobody will ever know how the game would have gone if they didn't implement these 'poorly conceived updates'. Nor will anyone know how the game would have gone if it had not been for a 'competitive market' or 'natural life expectancy of a video game'. I would consider the most qualified people to make updates to be those who have kept the game viable in every way including financially for the past 10 years. But maybe thats just me.

I am not sure but perhaps it was introduced to compensate for the reduced rate of finish first missions since players were complaining very much about those. Damage enemies should be significantly easier to complete and I doubt we'll see any increase in mults.

I was comparing the likelihood of getting 3000 crystals to SB since thats what OP mentioned. Aside from mines and useless paints almost anything you can get from a container is better than 1000 crystals which is why I said they are objectively better.

I do wonder if the main missions tab will resemble something like this when its implemented at some point. I haven't really noticed any negative effects from challenges to gameplay, aside from a few isolated incidents that cannot even be directly attributed to challenges. Obviously my experience doesn't represent everyone.

Statistically the number of players leaving has stayed consistent and predictable over the years, however the number of new players joining has fallen drastically due to lack of advertising. Shaft needs a laser, Tanki isn't an FPS game where sniping takes lots of skill and practice. Its an arcade style game where kill time is expected to be a lot longer. Shaft without a laser would be ridiculous, at max upgrades with alterations it does 8000 damage that would be obscene without any sort of warning. The back to basics thing is debatable, I can see your point but I personally love the new stuff. It makes Tanki feel like a new game and I think having more depth to the game is beneficial to keep new players interested as they are used to much more complex games than were available when Tanki started. Challenges are positively recieved by the vast majority of players, I don't see any reason to remove them. Keeping a game exactly the same for years is a guaranteed way to make everyone but hardcore fans lose interest.

You're just as likely to get 3000 crystals so objectively black boxes are just better. Speed boosts are underrated.

Not particularly good advice. If lack of resources was an issue its unlikely that this error would occur, the game would load and run extremely slowly instead. Which browser are you using? Usually this error disappears when you reload the game, have you tried that?
