    Let's Discuss Ricochet!

I’m back, having abandoned this thread after I reached Brigadier and had to switch from Rico M2 to Hammer M3 via Jackhammer kit. To put this in real calendar terms, think the first small Assault Mode holiday map. Rico M3/M4 was largely useless for quite some time. Then Striker and Magnum came into play. Guess what. Players scrambled for Magnum protection and all the LGC Clay modules got shelved. 50% protection against Rico dropped from 60-70% of players to 10-30%. Mostly due to that one module which has both Magnum and Rico protection. So Magnum’s gain is also Rico’s gain. Furthermore, I expect the situation to improve for Rico users following the dynamic module update. When that happens, pretty much the entire player base will be equipping a protection module with Magnum, Thunder, and (Isida or Twins) protection. Rico and the other obscure turrets will be free to inflict their full damage potential on most players you’ll meet. Unstable plasma - map specific benefit, which is a bad thing with MM. I found that performance was better without this alteration due to exploiting the bounce. Rio - the redesigned Rio favors Ricochet on the Red team. The blue base has squared walls so Rico can bounce for spawn kills. Red base has angled walls. So Rico on Blue team can’t use the same tactic. Not well thought out by designers.

Episode 170 of the V-LOG is live!

I agree with you. I can’t wait to wear my Viking XT Skin all the time. Right now I get clobbered because I’ve only invested half of the MUs. Others do have a legit complaint. Parkourists who keep M0 version of hulls for tricks and M3-M4 XT will lose their Parkour hull. Honestly, there is an easy fix for that - just like XP/BP normalizes parameters, Parkour PRO battles should normalize all hull parameters to M0 settings. Problem solved.

Is any of this actually coming to the real game anytime soon? Or are these more an announcement for updates which will take months maybe years to mature?

I like this idea. 40% is a reasonable limit for 4 way protection. I’m a bit skeptical of lower modifications being able to upgrade via MU to 40%. That said, I would gladly trade my coveted 4-way Lumberjack, which tops out at 45% for three turrets and something like 15% for the fourth for a 40% 4-way. Any day. Prices for this capability must be very high, like hey are for the LGC modules today.

2 more days until we get some answers. Lots of good discusssion here. Was the week’s wait just to drum up interest? Stir up the player base? Or is the staff actually reading and adapting their approach based on our reaction? We’ll see soon.

Episode 170 of the V-LOG is live!

I have to double down on preserving existing modules. Specifically the 4-way LGC Modules. I own Lumberjack LGC, which predates the current module system from when I bought Lumberjack paint with protections. I have nearly MUd it all the way and am at the point where every step costs me 100k crystals. That is a huge crystal investment. Unlike many 4-way modules, Lumberjack is very useful, Fire, Freeze, and Isida, with a helping of Vulcan on the side. If that module just goes poof, I and many other players will be beyond furious. .

Kits - if I understand the proposal, kits would certainly lose their modules. The real question is whether kit prices will change. Don’t count on it.

Yes, please allow 4-way protection modules, but to keep this from impacting balance and economy, that 4th slot can ONLY be used for mine protection. Mine protection and MUs cost 2x what protection from turrets costs.

Same question. History teaches that purchases are usually more expensive AFTER the change, so my amateur advice is to buy now.

We will get no refund. Tanki is the only game where 2+2=2 My suggestion is to introduce the new system, yet allow players to keep their existing modules. This would limit the rage to about what happened during the disintegration. Taking away player modules, especially the crystal hungry LGC modules will, I fear, mushroom cloud the player base unlike this game has ever witnessed. I am glad Tanki told us about this in advance so that we can have a healthy debate (my drama above notwithstanding) Everything else in my head has already been said before I got here. .

    New Paints in Containers

I love that there are more paints in containers, but I’m curious as to the rarity tier the new paints will be. I’ve been hoping Containers will help me complete my garage paints collection. Worried now that might be harder. Also Containers give too many supplies. I’ve stopped buying bundles and containers. Too many supplies.

    Let's Discuss Drones!

I’m not so sure. At least I’m not sure it will be a temporary-event-only thing like the meteors were. Seeing that these things can be micro-upgraded makes me think they will be a permanent add to the game. This will give Legends something besides MUs to spend crystals on. That should drum up interest from Veteran players. Low and Mid ranks will have a bit of a problem stretching their income to cover yet another garage purchase and MU path. 10 min battles may help or hurt. So much has changed with this game recently, it’s hard to predict how this will play out. .

    Matchmaking, Missions and Non-Buyers

<I’m playing catch up with this thread> Back to combos, when we don’t k ow which map we will play, players will fall back to the more usable combos. Medium hulls will be everywhere while heavy hulls will become rarer. Midrange turrets will increase while long range turrets will diminish in popularity. Sure users can change equipment, but in 10 minute battles, a garage visit wastes precious time. IMO Tanki is actively killing the diversity of the game which made it interesting. Sure there are PRO battles, but every update and event discourages players from going there. Okay this isn’t what I came here to say. I wanted to give some advice to newer players. The short version is that you don’t need two combos. You just need two turrets and a medium hull. Why? There is no such thing as a protection module against a hull, and a single medium hull is good enough for all of these conformed maps. Get Hunter so you’ll be ready for mobile. That’s my Hull recommendation. For turrets I recommend a new user get Isida - it’s a very short range turret, but so many engagements are close range. You’ll be good. Ricochet, Firebird, and Smoky all make good choices for secondary turrets at low ranks. Avoid Twins until M2 when you can get the stable plasma alteration. And by M2 you’ll want to add Thunder to your arsenal. Thunder is deadly at M2 with MUs, but be ready to abandon it at M3 because of modules. Don’t even think about buying niche turrets like Striker and Vulcan, which will all but disappear from battles lower than Legend. That brings me to another point Legends. New players cutting their teeth on this system are going to be in for a rude awakening when they encounter Legends who grew up with the old. The old Legends (see what I did there?) will have heavy hulls which newer high ranks won’t be prepared to deal with.

    Mission Chains Update [April 27th]

Yep - I’m grinding all four of my accounts toward week 10. Speaking to permanence, I had set up a tracker based on the older four week chxain system. Each one of my alts would take turns opening 15 containers one week and then saving. With four accounts and three containers each week, I had a nice little rotation going, where every week, one account opened a set of 15, with one week set aside for all four accounts to rest. This is not quite out the window, but definitely wrenched by the temporary reduction in weekly containers. All things end, I guess. But yes, I’m still happy. This also gives M4 Legends something to grind for, which is needed to retain high rank players. I see what hey did there.

    Mission Chains Update [April 27th]

My only problem with comparing a year is that the game does not remain constant for that long. We only had containers as chain rewards for four and a half months before TO changed it. Who can say how long this new arrangement will last? Edit- I’ve since seen you speak to the point that rewards are stil more generous than they were this time last year, and I agree. I still think it unwise to assume we can expect this new chain system to be long-lasting though, much less permanent. Regarding 10 minute battles. I’m a fan. I wasn’t at first bc of the lower funds, but now I have to agree that I finish more battles even when my team is losing. .

    Mission Chains Update [April 27th]

You’re welcome. Have we heard officially that MM will automatically change maps in the situation you describe? I’m pretty sure official statements from developer only confirmed that MM would create a new battle/map when others were full and another player attempts to join. I think the real question is when a battle ends, does MM preserve the map, attempting to assign new players to it? Or does it do as you describe and remove the battle and create a new one on a new map? My perception was that the former would happen. I would love to be wrong though.

    May Holidays begin April 29th!

I MUd. But this is the first shop bundle I have let slip by in awhile. I have to be very frank here. I could have used the extra 100k crystals. The five containers would have been great too. But paying real money for any package which includes another flood of supplies makes me throw up into my mouth a little bit.

    Mission Chains Update [April 27th]

Someone said supply kit sales are the game’s primary revenue stream. I don’t understand how that can be when Containers. missions, and chains flood my main and all my alts with supplies. Nearly 20k of everything on my main and near 1500 of everything on my Lieutenant alts. Even in drug fest battles I can’t put a dent in those numbers.

    Mission Chains Update [April 27th]

Players, and TO too for that matter, need to understand these two posts together. MM can and will serve as an obfuscating later between a human and the battle list, but MM cannot change the fact that especially late in the day there are so very few battles in the game. What’s the point of matchmaking if there’s only one or two active games? You’ll just keep getting sent to the same place with anyone else who wants to play at that time.

    Ideas for Missions!

Apologies if any dupes. No time to read this entire topic. Mission Chains Update [April 27th]

Some USEFUL missions to replace collect supplies: Kill a Flag Carrier Kill a Ball Carrier Kill X Enemies Using Mines Share an Oversrive with X Teammates Capture an Enemy-Controlled Point Kill an Enemy Within X Meters of a Goal/Flag/Point etc Kill an Enemy Within X Meters of a Flag Carrier I’m sure there are others. Bottom line, missions should always contribute to the purpose of the battle.

    Mission Chains Update [April 27th]

^ Not sure there has been enough time to analyze 3 Containers per week much less four. But my experience has been that Containers are icing on the cake for high ranks. Those players already have tons of supplies, paints, and Gold Boxes (if they even wanted them). Crystal packs don’t give enough to get far with M3 prices. Low and Mid ranks are way different. IMO TO made a mistake by not changing the number of containers awarded based on rank. When my M1 and M2 accounts open 15 containers, they get crazy good rewards for those ranks. All they have to do is sit on their chain reward containers for a few weeks. I’ve got a Third Lieutenant running around wearing Lumberjack with enough crystals to MU his M2 gear to M3 and then buy M3 gear for free. It’s night and day from the play my main experienced years ago at that rank.
