Patch Update #430 - New Striker turret, new Alterations and decorations
BlackWasp777 replied to theFiringHand in News Archive
I would leave it for now. You don't know how Striker gets modified over the next 3 months, so there is no point in tuning something precisely -

If the rockets hits something, you are just a bystander, like any other tank else. So you need a striker module to protect yourself. -
as I'm ill at the moment, I can't focus to play xp/bp.. so I tried my Titan Twins in poly cp (low-brainer) :p I saw two Isidas the whole day. And I played a lot yesterday.

Post here your issues with lags and server instability
BlackWasp777 replied to theFiringHand in Archive
But it would be worth it. It is an absolute win-win feature, for Tanki as well as for the players: - Tanki can save costs (unified lobby = load sharing = no HW upgrades needed, and still better gameperformance) - Players have a way better ingame experience as they have less lags - all your features related to the [battle] Button would work better too - Players could have filter, that show them batltes all across your network - and I like to repeat: tanki saves money. tanki saves money. tanki saves money :p -
It works well, I've nothing to complain about. If i compare tit to a Mammut M3 (which I also had the chance to drive) then imho the benefits of the Titan outweight it's disadvantages very well.

The visible laser gives you time to prepare.. so you can go close a wall.. wait.. and then drive behind it. Works nice But you're right in Noise. Generally this turret is very good if you can aim down on your enemy (all turrets are, but this especially) and they have nothing to hide. In the middle platform of noise you lack hideouts at two of the three ramps, which cuts your options seriously. -

I played a lot of hours Titam M3 on Polygon CP. The strikers do take away a lot of health, but it does not happen too often. The issue is that they would like to lock on.. but players learn fast how to dodge the lock-on, how much time they have to doidge. sometimes I even waited until the rockts were launched and dodged behind a wall - I was hit by 1 rocket, 3 hit the wall. And that with a large, slow Titan. So.. the turret has a large damage potential, but the long lock on time balances that out. No Striker dominated the Poly CPs I played in.. and I played a lot today (all with legend ranks) -
my titan M3 +10mu usualy survives the salve.. and the Strikers were M3 with aprox the same MU level. I assume not all rockets hit 100% (so I get only splash) or the Striker pilot had bad luck with the random damage of his rockets. And that happens on a map like polygon, where they have no long way to go. Even though I lose 95% of my Titan's health, this is ok. It is not sooo often, that they manage to lock on + hit the rockets. You get a feeling for the time they need to lock onto you, and you can dodge in time.

Patch Update #430 - New Striker turret, new Alterations and decorations

I saw 1..2 strikers in Poly CP per team. They did well but none of them ruled the field. And consider that protections are rare today.. as mentioned. So General_Owusu, I doubt it is OP at the moment. You are simply skilled with this turret and the apropriate tactics; and you seem to play the right maps for it -
And what's the advantage if you own both? none. In M3 you gain no access to additional tactics, no access to more health, nothing. I would fully understand you if I would talking about turning a wasp into a titan, as this would offer a total different gameplay. Or if you could turn a Railgun into a Striker turret and back as you wish. But the gameplay with Viking and Hunter is raterh simmilar.. just the handling is different. So what would be my advantage if I have access to both stat sets? I can see none. But if this is really perceived as unfair, then we could also have a model to pay those 50k if I may exchange my viking for a hunter with the same Mu level. This concern is all about the handling of the hull.. but handling is the thing you doo all the time when you use it.

I just attended an M2/M3 Rio, about 9vs9 players. There were a couple of striker turrets and they did well. They were especially effective vs heavy hulls; but only if they blended into their own team. The did not manage to hold/defend a flank as effective as a rail, Thunder or Shaft, but when they assisted an existing defender the results were very impressive -
^ this would be acceptable :p

I do not understand DOA. Actually.. tnaki ripped the players off that have invested a lot into an upgraded Viking of Hunter.. and wanted what they paid for. I think you see that this alteration would be a way in the middle. to please them (crystal sink) as well as the players. I doubt that any player with an M4 viking, worth about 1.1 Mio crystals, would start to buid up an M4 Hunter now. He would just stick to it's cruxed Viking and be anoyed - every single hour of gameplay. If tanki wanna stick to that balance they have now, this would be the way forward.

I tried the M0 striker and the aim-while-move improoved a lot during the couple of hours I used it up to now. This turrets just needs a lot of skill to aim with. The only true "impossible" shots are those to higher elevations on moving targets, as the autoaim that guides missiles upwards works only if the target is in the autoaim section at the moment of releaseing the shot.. which is not the case if you have to lead the shot forward. The homing system works fine vs. heavy hulls. Vs light hulls the arcade mode makes more sense anyways. The damage is the same as thunder, but instead of thunder the damage does no decrease with distance. Of course you do not hit as easy on distance. -
get no more M1s and start to save crystals for an M2 kit

Patch Update #430 - New Striker turret, new Alterations and decorations
BlackWasp777 replied to theFiringHand in News Archive
Yeah I remember that. You for sure needed a bodyguard for this week :P I'm not asking to change it in the whole game. The players are used to it. I just want to know, if there is a way, that I can change it myself in the console. I could not find the correct parameter. I guess there have to be two parameters, like maybe: - "camera turning acceleration??", that causes a delay when I turn the turret) - "camera horizontal acceleration??", that causes the delay when I drive sideways. The second case (driving sideways) is what I like to change. I made a picture, to explain what I'm asking for -
^ saw it, liked it ;)

Patch Update #430 - New Striker turret, new Alterations and decorations
BlackWasp777 replied to theFiringHand in News Archive
The aiming is truely more consistant now. If I locked on a Target A half the time, and then Target B crosses for a very short time, then I do not loose lockon of Target A. I like this, it's a good thing. by the way, may I ask you something? if I move my turret 90 degrees sideways and drive my tank forward, the camera will follow a little delayed, and my turret will not aim anymore to the center of my screen. When I stop my tank, the camera catches up with my tank again and the center of the screen is where I aim to. Is there any way a player can change that camera behaviour, so that my point-of-aim is always in the horizontal center of the screen? thanks :) -
Patch Update #430 - New Striker turret, new Alterations and decorations
BlackWasp777 replied to theFiringHand in News Archive
thanks, I didnt noticed that. When I focus on my target in order to trace it, I can not afford to look at the reload bar. So when I trace a target A with the laser, I can not estimate it it is almost done and I can finalize the lockon / or if it will not work out and I should start to focus on Target B right away. edit: but thinking through it.. I think we will learn the time it needs. We also learned to estimate other tanks railgun reload periods quite well. Still it was awesome for beginners to realise what they have to do. -

I see no lockon progress circle any more.. is this intentional? -
Hunter <-> Viking: swap back via alteration. I've summed up an idea for a hull alteration that exchanges Hunter with Viking stats (and vice versa). Who of you would be interrested in that? If yes (and pls only if yes) then feel free to support the idea there
