Oops! Sorry about that. If a mod could move this over it would be great:)
-
I agree. The first iteration of the incendiary alt was incredibly OP for almost a week. It needed a nerf. One game I had 40 kills and 1 death:) The most recent nerf, however, limits the normal use of vulcan and penalizes all normal shooting. My point earlier was leave the vulcan damage as normal (post original nerf; pre-second nerf) until the turret overheats. At that point, then reduce the vulcan damage (like it is currently doing) but add the afterburn. This allows for a much more balanced turret that is not OP.
-
Having grown used to melting down as a vulcan, it is ridiculously fun to shoot and shoot with little regard or fear of self-damage:)
-
Been enjoying the autocannon alt on the m4 smoky against teams with very few smoky protections. It really is a dominant midfield turret for CTF setting a nice trap for the enemies chasing down their flag.
-
Do you mean the nerf that came on the 5-6 day of the alteration?
-
It wasn't OP before the damage nerf. All I am saying is that return the damage to normal until the incendiary rounds begin (i.e., after 12+ seconds of firing). Once the Incendiary rounds being and the vulcan is starting to overheat (i.e., afterburn is kicking in on the victim tank too), then nerf the vulcan damage 10% since it will be inducing afterburn on the receiving tank. There are times that I would prefer to use the vulcan and not commit suicide...that should still be an option with the Alt. Now you are penalized for NOT overheating your vulcan. Just seems to limit the game play too much.

I agree...if I am an isida I note the teammates seeking to help the team and focus on healing them. Folks who should be playing rather than chatting insults don't deserve your assistance. There are a few turrets that are hard to score great with but are essential to winning team battles...isida and shaft
-
Absolutely agree with you on this! Once I am overheating, then nerf the damage 10% from vulcan and let the afterburn commence

In my opinion, if you enjoy Thunder, then the sledgehammer alt is definitely for you. It is the ultimate midrange turret when equipped. It rivals smoky on firing rate, but adds it's splash damage. I held off buying it until the last (and only) sale and do not regret it at all. I tend to land 2-3 shots before the enemy knows what hit them...that will wipe out light hull and severely deplete a medium hull. Add some DD and it is definitely a strong turret. Be aware that if the enemy team has 5+ protections against thunder, I will almost always swap turrets. The higher protections just make it hard to land kills IMO.
-
It worried me. I purchased it anyway. It definitely changes gameplay, but in no way has it been OP at my ranks. Of all the alts that I think are OP, this one is not really in that category IMHO.
-
I leave it equipped on my twins unless the board is very small. For small boards I prefer standard twins since it reloads faster and the aim isn't as hard up close. On middle sized and larger boards, it is necessary IMO to max out twins. It allows you to play a good midfield role or defense easily with the added range and speed of shot. If you plan on attacking bases with it, then you best suit up with twins protection. To me it is honestly one of the BEST buys of all the alts available for ANY turret.

I would love to see it applied when hitting a light hull, but it would be OP to have it also for heavy hull.

Welcome to the club :D

Okay, you've got to post that...sounds awesome

I have tried and never been able to. I would be interested to know too. I quit trying after 2-3 attempts. Decided to use it on targets that were higher probabilities.
-
But you do realize that the vulcan is burning just as much as you are. Every vulcan has to equip fire module or face swift death. I equip fire all the time now due to the smoky, hammer, vulcan alts and the normal compact tank melting effect.
-
And to add one more wrinkle to it, Tanki is saying that even though the self-inflicted wounds are only incurred because they are attacking the enemy, defending their team, objectves, etc. it is the same thing as people shooting themselves on purpose to escape the battle. For a vulcan they are not shooting themselves, they are shooting the enemy.
-
This happened to me! Totally ripped off. I could have purchased autocannon but went for the OP firebird alt. No apologies or refunds.
-
I agree, but the same reality is self-damage. I can choose to use my rico and bounce into myself. Let an isida heal me. Repeat ad infinitum behind a building...so that the isida is power-leveling. I just didn't see a difference in the two circumstances since in the Q&A forum it was explained as a way to prevent power-leveling (or whatever phrase it was). I think an isida should get points for any form of combat or healing period. End of story. It is their function which is unique in the game.
-
Got it...obviously seems like a very different situation in MM where there are 5-10+ teammates you have never really met before.
-
Not sure what an anti-power-leveling system is:) Could you please explain that. New to this part of the forum. Thanks
-
So should you get points for healing Rico users who have hit themselves, Thunder users who have been in close combat and experienced self-made splash damage, Magnum users, etc.? I didn't realize that Isida couldn't get points for healing vulcans...that explained my low score yesterday when I saw a vulcan and partnered (more so we could come back and win the match).
-
I agree with most all of this except not sure mammy is any stronger than titan. I would say it has a more ideal turret placement for peek-a-boo sniping techniques most campers employ. Other than that, give me the titan all day long.
-
They added that nerf after about 36 hours of releasing the alt. The first day or so, the alt was so OP. It was a great change of pace for Vulcan users...who have been often marginalized in the power and turret rotation arena. If you have been using the alt since day 3 of its release, you shouldn't notice any diminished results with the vulcan alt IMO. I might be wrong, but I use it a lot and enjoy the vulcan game play.

For sure. I am nearing 2k. I thought about getting a drone, but decided to check the profile of players who were using them in battles. Wow! They have used over 10k batteries and not used their drones that many hours of battle time. There is no way I could afford to use them. So it is a purely buyer's market...unlike drugs. You can keep stocked fairly well with them if you are smart and patient.
