  1. Just tried Juggernaut mode for the first time and it's dumb. Was happily taking pot shots at the thing with my Smoky and hoping I might steal the kill (from the Freezers) and got killed by a Freezer sneaking up on me. What's the point of going after the Juggernaut if it just makes you an easy kill for someone who isn't going after it? It's effectively a Gold Box that can shoot back.

  3. Yeah, I thought Juggernaut mode would be an everyone vs the Juggernaut / competing to become the Juggernaut thing instead of DM with a twist. Can’t be bothered with that.

    I should give it another go (the battles were alright), but I just don’t have enough time to wade through the fussy out-of-battle UI / sections and work out what everything does. I think TO is much more accessible for casual gamers.

    Yeah, please don't nerf that. I often feel that Smoky is a turret for masochists, especially because of that dropoff (and now cheap M1 protection via kits). Those max-range crits (with DD) are our payback moments, especially when you one shot a light Hull (at lower ranks). I've got enough crystals for the last M1 MU on my just-reached WO1 account (with M0 10/10 Hunter). So tempting to pay full price for 9/10 > 10/10 just for the laughs / bragging rights (people think I'm a Buyer, especially with Matrix Paint), but should probably wait for the next MU sale.

    Ideas for Turrets!

    My take on that is you’re supposed to use Smoky's Alts beyond M2 (the increase in stats from M1 to M2 is roughly the same as the increase from M2 to M4) and not rely on critical (+ DD) hits so much. It’s why (if I keep playing) I’ll probably be playing with another Turret before I reach the rank where I can MU my Smokies beyond M2. Would be nice if the critical increased more after M2, but would M4 be OP with 2800 damage from a critical + DD?

    I guess it's nice to have lots of Wasps and Hornets to shoot at, but I'm getting bored of it now. Would have been nice to have a mix of meteorite and normal drops to give more people a chance. (never going to catch any Gold Boxes, and don't think I'd catch enough to get the money back on a Wasp or Hornet) (edit: my first account has all the Hulls and I just managed to catch a box with a M0 Wasp with no MUs, but I spent most of the battle hiding and drugging)

    Is CTF still a 'team' game?

    I still play to win with the new battle fund distribution because I still get more crystals. I'll lose interest in the objectives in CTF / RGB / ASL (only play red on ASL) and start going for kills if I think the battle is lost, but under the old battle fund distribution I would have quit. I quit with the new distribution if me and most of my team starts getting spawn killed. Can't score, staying is pointless. It is sad that those really intense battles are less likely to happen, but I don't miss the terror of losing (crystals) at all.

I've mostly been able to keep up with "Buyers" by sticking to one Hull / Turret and MUing it, but I'm struggling to keep up with Protection / Modules after the price hike (the benefits of the new system are irrelevant if you can't afford more than three Modules) and Drones are a dream. My issue with "drugging" is that it's not something that everyone wants to do, and the ability to disable them in PRO battles is irrelevant because not enough enough people want to play a version of MM with no Supplies. It's not about not being able to play the game (I do Supply battles on one account); it's about wanting to play a version of the game that you think is better.

    Ideas for Supplies and Drones!

    All three of my accounts are at lower ranks: SM, WO3, and WO5. I use drugs on the WO3 account (was my first one), but not on the others. I rely on well timed use of Overdrive (my own + team mates) a lot. Sometimes I lose badly, but sometimes I win. I have most fun with the SM account (but that's only 7000 XP from WO1) because drug battles aren't that common. It's getting much harder on the WO5 account, but I still haven't reached the point where drug use in every battle is necessary. After 29 hours (over 7 weeks) on the SM account (M0 Hunter 10/10 + Smoky M1 8/10), I've managed to accumulate 314 RK, 471 DD, 850 DD, 750 SB, and 424 Mines. Accumulating Supplies at low ranks isn't difficult. (FWIW, I think that lack of separation between players that don't want to use drugs [for game play reasons] and players that do is the worst thing about TO. I like the intensity of drug wars sometimes, but I wish there was a non-Pro no-Supplies MM rotation running alongside the existing one.)

    I've sync'd all of my accounts, so today is Container Day Account #1: 125 SB 3500 Crystals 3500 Crystals Harlequin Paint (Rare) Account #2 / SporkZilla 3500 Crystals 125 DD 125 Mines 5 Gold Boxes Costa Rica Paint (Epic?) (not sure where the 5th Container came from. I remember picking up a Gold Box that didn't look like a Gold Box, but I checked for Containers afterwards and there wasn't one) Account #3 125 DD Matrix Paint (Legendary, but it opened with the Exotic colour) 3500 Crystals Not a bad week. Was hoping for more Crystals, but really happy about getting Harlequin Paint and Matrix Paint (Disco Paint is another one I really want). Don't like the World Cup Paints; the texture mapping is really bad.

    I like Massacre, and wouldn't want it removed (Future is the only map I really hate) Current MM annoyance is clicking on "Continue" (usually to continue or re-attempt a Daily Mission) > wait > battle gets stuck on loading. Have to press Escape to reset it and try again.

    XT-Skins, Drones, Balance Update

    I (Hunter driver) don't know what I'm going to do when the new Overdrives come in. I rely on the regular one for a lot of my kills / score and I'm really annoyed about losing it. As you said, it forces you to a play a role with your Hull that you might not want to play. Getting murdered by Freezers on all of my accounts (SM, WO3, and WO5) at the moment. It's ridiculous.

    I'm waiting for more players. My biggest problem with TO is the lack of segregation between players that think Supplies (drugs) are great and players that think that they remove or diminish an important (and fun) game play element: competing for dropped Supplies and learning where they are. Sometimes (and I don't know how it happens) you end up with some sort of agreement-by-accident where all of the players in a battle are using Supplies or not using Supplies, but a battle with a couple of full-time druggers on the enemy team and none on yours just isn't worth playing. I want to play no-Supplies Pro battles on my favorite maps (not the ones that dominate Pro battles at the moment), but nobody else wants to. So more players (or no-Supplies non-Pro battles) I'm getting used to MM and agree with a lot of LittleWille's points, especially about comfort zones. I'm now more comfortable with Maps that I used to avoid (but I still won't play on Future). But it needs a lot of work. The system should look at people's Daily Missions and not put flag capture people on the Blue team in ASL, and it should make sure that people with a 1-2-3 mission enter battles at the beginning etc. If it worked better generally, then less people would quit battles and most of the problems associated with quitting battles, like being put in to a (usually losing) battle with a few minutes left, would be reduced. It's a vicious circle. (Brest CP is one of my favorites. I haven't had that many battles with more than two Shafts / long-range Turrets per side though.)

    I'm really worried about Hunter's pending Overdrive, and I've invested a lot (albeit at lower ranks) in Hunter on all of my accounts. Viking's Overdrive seems better, especially for Smokers.

    Why I'm no longer going to play tanki online.

    On my newest account, I've got Hunter M0/10 with Smoky M1/5 at First Sergeant (37500 XP). I'm about to buy M1/6. That account is 5 weeks old and I've played 21 hours on it, but I've only bought one Hull / Turret and I've won 20000 crystals from Containers. (Containers are another lottery / imbalance, along with how many crystal earning Daily Missions you get). Free players (like me) can do well, but they have to put all of their crystals in to one tank. Or several tanks, but a separate account for each one. I play for fun, and most of the time I have fun. But I often wonder how much success in this game is based on skill instead of luck or earning (or buying) an advantage. I don't think I'm a great player. I've got good situational awareness and know my way around several maps and know where Supply boxes are, and I can turn my turret and circle strafe and drive off ledges without flipping over, but I haven't mastered rocking or aim deflection. If I win / dominate a battle (which often surprises me when it happens, especially on this account), it is often because of having a more powerful tank or luck: Smoky's ability to steal kills or a chain of Overdrives from teammates. Supplies are a much bigger problem for me than MUs or Product Kits. I think they fundamentally alter the gameplay by partially eliminating the need to go looking for Supplies and I'd rather play without them (imagine Mario Kart where everyone had a huge supply of Item Boxes), and that gets harder to do as you rank up. My preferred way of playing is a "try and do and much damage before you get killed" one that relies on dropped Supplies and well-timed use of Overdrive, and I hate it when the different ways of playing collide, especially when someone uses a Repair Kit and kills me after I've almost killed them. I sometimes play Supply / drug wars on one account and I like the intensity of them (and sometimes I can't be bothered to do a Daily Mission the hard / drug-free way), but I wish people who want to play the game differently could be segregated in some way (but Drones have added had another layer of complication on that). (PRO battles isn't it; nobody wants to play PRO battles on most of the maps that are in the non-PRO rotation) I'm thinking about either quitting or playing less often for time reasons because some recent / pending changes have really bothered me: Drones - just not interested (so much for the KISS principle), and another buyer-advantage that I have to worry about Huge increase in Module prices, with the benefits of the new system being mostly irrelevant for non-buyers / casual players because they were unlikely to buy / upgrade more than three triple Modules anyway (if that). Product Kits with protection from their Turret instead of protections which rarely included their Turret, so now I'm facing Keepers and Savages and Strikers with M1 Smoky Modules. Hull based Overdrives which will nerf Hunter and / or force it in to a defensive role where it has to wait to use Overdrive to un-Overdrive a pack of enemy tanks instead of using (current) Overdrive to go on the offensive and get kill steaks / capture flags / score goals. The not-Drones ones are really annoying because Striker is now a bargain. Better (pending) Overdrive and a Module that I want. I feel like a mug for investing in Hunter and not buying Modules before the update (and waiting for a sale where I could get the "bargain" of three M1 protections for 45K), and I'm not the only one. I can live with Matchmaking because of the much better payouts for losing teams, but it needs a lot of work.
