Popped into the writer's corner to look for a few older pieces and came across this. This is a great read - it's exciting to see where you started and how far you've come! I remember back in 2020 you often mentioned programming when we had conversations and were always eager to show me what you had learned. Up until that point, I hadn't met someone who was so passionate about a topic like you were. Your enjoyment for programming has always shone through and it's so great to know that it's continued as you picked up new technologies and took on larger projects! Any insight into your future plans - domains of computer science that you might be interested in or fields of development you hope to work in?

Yep, they should be up soon! Right now the model is not very accurate as it doesn't have a lot of data, so I've taken the liberty of putting it as N/A for the meantime, but within a few days it should level out to some more sane predictions.

That was a good time. I definitely miss the days of reading and writing newspaper articles quite much, and I am grateful I met you through this writing journey. in short: from the AWS we started and now to the (now renamed) writers corner we go; i am leave in serious: Tanki has been my escape from reality ever since I discovered it, and it grew to be even more so as I gradually got more involved in the game. From middle school where I was fooling around to high school where I was finding myself, Tanki has helped me in so many ways - from visiting the forum and finding a passion in writing to Newspaper and Tanki Fund projects influencing my field of study and giving me leverage in landing my first research position and internship. Ironically, all these opportunities I’ve been able to get through pursuing my interests from the game are also the reasons that it’s time to move on and shift my focus to the future. I’m more than grateful for the opportunities and experience I’ve been able to have through this game. Nothing compares to working with so many amazing people from all the Helper teams across the world and getting familiar with new ideas and technologies. I’ll really miss it all. Before I go, a few special shoutouts to a couple of my good friends: - Fradmin for chatting about tonks and coping about jobs with me - congrats on the big boy job as well! - 20H12/Dynasty (rip I guess he alr left) for the Competitor Newspaper contest and being one of the best friends one could have in Tanki. Hello all! I have started compiling some information on the mini-game and plan to release some info on the general stats/checkpoints that are feasible to reach as well as a personal simulator once more information is released. It does look like the mini-game is quite similar to the last one with only cosmetic changes and maybe differences in the Islands of Fortune vs meteorite locations. Only time will tell though. This does allow me to make a few assumptions and present a preliminary prediction. (Of course, this is subject to change) Using the same priors (assuming the game mechanics are about the same - that means dice probabilities, spots you can move to, etc) as the last mini-game (Dark Matter), 600 energy can generally get you around ~52 steps along the mini-game, which if the checkpoint locations are the same, allows you to reach just a bit past the third checkpoint. If you are interested, I'll be posting updates and more information here. also i will be eternally grateful to people who are willing to roll dice for fun and give some data on the dice distribution for a better prediction thankyouverymuch

Time to Crisis-proof my code ?

Hey all! You may have seen some of my previous work in creating the Tanki Fund Tracker and the Dark Matter Mini-Game Simulator. As the eSports Tanki Fund comes to a close, I'm thinking of making a new side project, something that might come in handy for future funds (and *sighs* might help me get over my fear of SQL joins): yep, a playerbase tracker similar to TankiRating, but the difference is that I'll try to predict some trends in the playerbase based on what is or might be happening (e.g. DDoS attacks, new updates, events, sales). And for that, I'll need your help - I might know what to implement, but I might not know too much about the playerbase. So what are the (biggest) factors that affect the playerbase in your opinion? Here are some of my thoughts: DDoS attacks/server issues or something that falls under server status (e.g. Great for working servers, Okay for some reported server issues, Bad for DDoS/major outages) Ongoing events (e.g. True/False for an event going on) Ongoing sales (e.g. True/False for sales, or maybe report sale percentages by parsing) Day of the week (e.g. encode integers to days or perhaps T/F for weekend day) Of course, time of day is a major factor, but it is factored into the seasonal trends of the playerbase time series, so I did not include it. If you have some other ideas that I didn't mention or features/projects you want me to take on, I'd be glad to hear. Thanks for your time!

Another fund update, I guess: Crisis? ?

Fund update in ultrawide from a school computer - mine broke and I'm getting a replacement right now ? I added a new feature in the fund prediction to account for sudden increases towards of the end of the fund as well as a checkpoint tracker. Would've come in handy in the past weeks, but I was tied up with other commitments. As expected, the estimated end fund shot up a bit, but no promises on Armadillo.

Thanks guys! It came in clutch during a research interview for a time series project. Hopefully I'll be able to implement new features and do a website redesign after my classes are over. In other news, the estimated final fund is slated to be around 13M at the moment ?
