What Is Your Opinion About the Current State of Tanki Online?

I need to digest this information a bit as both you and boris4311 (one of the most prodigious player) use magnum mainly. -
Most pathetic view: Chronos Drone and GS9999 against GS6000 players
NooNooHead replied to TinBoxGunner in Archive
Even one GS9999 player with the right stuff against legends on the other side with GS9000 to GS9500 can result in this type of blow out if the teams are small on a small map. I just participated in 2 reluctantly. I have a finish mission type assignment so the needle moved and I collected. GS9999 finished with a score of 400+ while the rest of us got < 100. This is something for you to think about as you rank up and your GS improves. Once you enter a MM battle, the practical thing to do is to decide whether to stay or not. -
Why is ricochet and hornet so weak compared with other turrets and hulls?
NooNooHead replied to raze_avenger in Archive
Rico is a turret in my top 3 rotation. No matter what you use, it is important that you check protection on the other side once you enter a battle. Also check team balance. If I see a quarter or a third of the enemies have protection > 40% against me, I switch turret. Rico lacks the big punch to finish off an enemy. Your hull has to take some hits for you to keep firing so It fits better with a medium hull. And yes, enemy drones complicate things. -

Yes, if you are f2p, it is important to play MM battles on your terms. Avoid enemy teams significantly better than your side. No amount of skills will make up for it. -
So far, I have not really used my drones and I like the damage missions. You are bound to make some progress unlike cap flag/score goal/finish top 3. I can probably average 30 - 40 K damage per mission. I will usually start off with thunder. If protection is heavy, then I will pick a turret with lower protection on the other side. I have accumulated some batteries and my booster drone has MU > 10/20. Maybe a few more steps and I am ready to unleash it. Thanks to shards and free containers, I am looking forward to closing some of the gaps.

Learn to play for K/D (DL) ratio. Basically, let your teammates take all the hits and you get the kill. How? An example here. Camp in the back corner of the map with a long range turret with a titan or mammoth. When danger comes, activate OD. Its not fun though. But seriously, dying is part of game and you should pursue what makes you happy playing the game. If you are seriously mismatched in a battle, leave and join another one.

As TWICE said, buy now and think later. At least buy something. Crystals and resources are now easier to get for f2p with free containers. -
One thing about the spectrum modules is that you don't need to adjust your protection in the garage. You don't need to worry about any turret, mines or turret changes on the other side. You have to earn it (competition or helpers). The ones I've bumped into are usually very skilled. You will rarely find one on the losing side. If I see one on the enemies, I might think about moving on. Seeing 2 on the enemy side means a group and is a no brainer. Only exception is if I bump into Andra and Sister.

I came to this conclusion about 6 months ago. Winning and losing in MM is not that important given the current battle parameters. As you said in a previous post, you can finish on the losing side and still chalk up a huge score by playing for you guessed it, K/D ratio. Now, I have to condition my pride to not test my skills against those with the defender drone. Right now, that is the biggest time/effort waster for me.
-
I don't get too hung up on winning or losing a MM match anymore. I just want a reasonable reward for my time and effort, so crystals and stars. Your team did well down 3 players. The worst thing though, is losing a lopsided match with very little to show for. I avoid those at all costs by leaving early.
-
You played for kills while your teammates played to capture the point. I love it when a plan comes together.?
-
I break down where I finish into 3 levels: top, middle, bottom. Changing the protection scheme usually moves me up one notch provided I identify the stronger players on the other side and adjust the protection accordingly. Since there are only 3 slots, the worst thing is to arm something serving no purpose. However, the first step should be to identify protection on the other side and adjust your turret. If you are f2p, this is essential.
-
Augments for turrets can change the game play properties too much. Since in MM, you don't know the map/enemies you get, adrenaline is the only one I use now. Or you can spend time in the garage trying to figure out which augment you should arm. But wait, shouldn't you be checking protection scheme on the other side first??

This outcome could have been predicted early on. Losing side shafts will most likely finish near the top unless you give them a taste of their own medicine. In MM, I will leave early if I see 2 or more shafts on my side in ctf, rgb, cp, assault and siege. This goes for rail guns too most of the time. -
Yes, as your GS inches up, you will be able to hold your own and not finish at the bottom as often. However, you will not be able to match the p2w players with battery supplies.

That is a lot. Yet, he only caught 7. Catching a gold is better than beating him in battles. -
Also, try to figure out who has OP drones on the other side and avoid them if possible. If clan + OP drones on other side, leave.
-
In certain maps, a railgun can still be effective in TDM and juggernaut. Any other modes, I do a count of how many on my side and leave if there are more than 2. This goes for shafts also.

@Positive Thanks. This is very helpful and took a lot of effort. My shortcut for equipment tips is to use the profile of boris4311 since he is playing like 24x7 and is active and ranked in the top 50.

I used to complain about campers in the battle chat and still do from time to time. I would call them out and leave. I never brag about a high K/D because I have been on the other side many times too.? I just move on and earn the next meal. Now, it is more strategic for me based on team makeup, battle score and for the f2p players, the almighty crystal rewards. Let us say you don't have a damage mission, is there any point in shooting a player with a defender drone ? Your maxed out m7 turret on DD is doing like 400 damage per shot. Enemy picks up a health pack and later, activates a health pack and you can wound up with nothing spending a good amount of time testing your skills. Meanwhile, your teammates are picking off those easy targets and racking up a huge score. Do you dare to stick your neck out with enemy viking's and hornet's OD activated? I still do but not as much. I still get a kick out of destroying those enemies within a second of activating their OD. I don't have the equipment to cap flags or score goals effectively in the current climate so I leave those to the PROS (aka p2w). The exception is when my team has a clan or is up a tank or 2. These are the parameters I have as a f2p player. -

In theory yes, in practice, it is difficult. Every time you need to respawn, you lose valuable time. If you die like 10 times in a match, you spend more than a minute to two out of action. Oh, if you lose a 1 vs 1, guess who gets the supply drops (especially health pack and OD). From my experience, I can die at most 10 times in a match and still expect a reasonable share of the pot. Anything more and I will be close to the bottom of the pile. Do I play match objectives? Yes, most of the time at the start but within the first 2 minutes, I will know what to do. I don't have OP gears and I don't use drones (for now) so that is the path I choose. If anyone has done well getting a share of the pot with a bad KD ratio in a match, please post your results and let me know.
