What Is Your Opinion About the Current State of Tanki Online?
NooNooHead replied to Maf in Game Discussion
This only works if your teammates do not desert you and are kinda dumb enough to stick around to play the match requirement. Somebody on your team must take most of the hits while you get the kills. Nothing wrong with that if you can get away with it. That is just smart. However, in most MM modes (ctf, cp, siege, rugby), I usually leave if I spot 2 or more campers going to the back corners the minute they spawn. And remember, it only takes one or two tankers on your side to leave in the middle of the battle to ruin the DL ratio strategy. -
The defender drone with the hornet combo definitely required a nerf as there was no defense that can counter it effectively. We shouldn't have to deal with any combos that can rack up 30+ kills in MM. The developers chose the drone. Was there an official explanation of what happened?

With one MK5 combo and slightly less in protection modules, you can be competitive in some of your battles but you won't dominate. My estimate is you will have a hard time grinding your way up the ranks, just like most f2p players. It gets harder as you rank up. Some f2p players will enjoy the hard work and some will hate it. Good luck.

A week ago, I keep bumping into alklines and his group with my different accounts in different battle modes. I greet him/her and then bye bye. He is polite. Of the matches I stayed, I have yet to see his team lose or play a close match. A few days ago, I bumped into 2 players on the other side with the spectrum protection module. Clearly, another team but I stayed and we lost 30-5 in CP. That is with everyone on my side going to the points, no campers.

You don't have premium so that is one reason for the continuous drop. Play only in special events with 2x or more battle funds will help. If you don't mind giving up your holidays to play this game, I think Christmas time is also a good period to move up a notch in the ranking.

I can relate to most points raised by OP. Striker is not very good in most battle modes. The only positive it has going for it is that there will be almost no players on the enemy side with protection against it. I don't think I will put on striker protection even with 2 strikers on the other side.

Yes, it is possible to survive in MM battles without alts and drones. You have to play battles on your terms. (1) Leave battles early when the other side has more than 1 player with GS close to the max. That indicates a team. (2) When there are 2 or more campers on your side going to the back corners of the map or up the towers regardless of battle modes, leave (3) When your team is down 2 or more players, leave (4) When your teammates constantly step into your line of fire or bump you as you fire, consider leaving. I can probably come up with more reasons to leave ...like teammates who park their tanks diagonally on a bridge, isidas healing only campers, after a few minutes into the battle, you find that more than one teammates is like 0 kills 10 deaths. To maximize your chance, it is important to find out the protection scheme on the other side and change to a turret that has minimum protection on the other side. Also change your own protection scheme depending on who the strong players are on the other side.

From my observation, the lifeguard drone is pretty good for a camper, especially playing TDM.

My secret to getting good rewards from just a small amount of containers.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will try the mobile version and see if I have better luck getting a better reward. -
Most likely, you've encountered a maxed out defender drone. But why use a slow hull like a viking when you can have a party with your clan mates and get it done in half the time with a vulcan + hornet + defender + augmentation

There is no way to down grade your rank. Looking at your profile, you only have isida and hornet at Mk7 with GS around 7100 at the legend level. This will be extremely hard to compete in MM battles. You probably ranked up a bit too quickly without the crystals backing you up. Currently, I see some top players using a dictator with isida and the mechanics drone playing only assault defending position. If you are not hung up on DL ratio, activating OD with lots of teammates around you will earn good xp and crystals. Realistically, you should aim for a GS of around 9000 to have any chance of not being an easy target. Good luck.
-
Unfortunately, you will have to put up with players with superior equipment. My suggestion is to leave the match early if you see enemies with much better GS. I am sure you won't complain much if you're on the stronger side. Occasionally, you will be put into those stronger teams so be patient. You can have all kinds of amazing skills but have little chance of coming out on top against better equipped opposition. Always play for DL ratio when you know your team will lose badly if you decide to stay in the battle. Also, keep in mind that as you rank up, you will go against players with great GS and great skills. And, the final straw would be great players with great GS and play in a team. Good luck.

From my experience, it is more effective to change a turret type in a battle depending on the protection scheme of the enemies. If you really like a particular turret type, then you should get the alteration. Otherwise, get a few turrets and get good at them.
-
At your rank, thunder players can still succeed without turning the turret provided they have equipment and supply advantage. I only know of one thunder player at the legend level who does not turn turret. I asked him why and he said he is more effective that way. He does drive well and uses a lighter hull relying heavily on health packs. For me, a more ridiculous sight is a rail player who does not turn turret and I have seen those out there.
-
You have done well based on your profile. I think you probably buy a little but besides that, you don't over abuse some supplies. You are already a very efficient player. It is almost impossible to play regularly and move up the ranking list at your level. Most top ranked players only play in special events. The only other player I follow regularly in the top 50 is boris4311 and he is a regular. Despite his garage and supplies, it took him over a year to move up a few places. Yrap_cool is 2nd and of the matches I see him play recently, he only plays in assault defending team with isida/dictator. He gets a ton of crystals every match.
-
This captures the main points of why I quit also. My biggest beef is with campers. If you see teammates going to the back corner of the map or up the towers the minute they spawn, leave right away. Two enemies with close to max GS is also another clue. You may be able to deal with one but 2 or more indicates a team.
-
I recently had the pleasure to play with and against Yrap_cool. He uses a dictator with isida and plays only in assault as the defending team. His GS is not at the max. He shares the OD with teammates to gain xp. He has a premium account but with isida, he didn't get an exceptional DL ratio. Almost every match win/loss, he is at the top of the team. As for Yarik, the top gun, I suspect he is an insider with that spectrum protection and he is only playing in special events.

MM balancing - imcompetency or favouring russian players?
NooNooHead replied to TinBoxGunner in Archive
You look for the lowest GS on both teams to decide whether to leave. I look for the highest GS on both sides to decide whether to leave. Oh yes, one other thing, I don't like camping rails, magnums and shafts on my side in most MM modes. -

That is somewhat true. However, I am one of those who leave MM if I see too many rails, shafts and magnums camping for kills in the back corner of the map in MM (except for tdm or juggernaut). -

As with most OP stuff in the past, this will be hopefully nerfed in a future release. For now, my option is to leave MM battles early as there is no effective defense against certain combos. -
In the past, I avoided DM because of steal kills and excessive drugging, favoring a certain group of players.
-
I think I bumped into your group a few times in the past and thanks for the honesty. Playing in a clan definitely gives you a huge advantage besides the GS. For this reason, if I see a mismatch in MM right off the bat, I usually leave.
-
I find magnum harder to use compared to other turrets that fire indiscriminately. Lots of things can go wrong to cause you to miss wildly. The RGC alteration makes it a bit similar to what we are accustomed to. I am still amazed at how a magnum player can land that direct shot when I am on a bridge.
-
Very interesting profile. Why would someone do this and not play ...and get killed so many times with that GS to pick up gold boxes only? I guess that is one way not to pick up any xp and not rank up.
-
Congratulations, you have done very well for your account (rank). You have OP equipment in most MM battles. I hate to say it, but at a certain point as you rank up, you'll play against much stronger opposition. Perhaps, someone with the spectrum protection module, perhaps someone who has used over 100K in health packs, etc. Please check out the profiles of these players, especially the supplies used and the crystals earned. I am just recalling what I faced in previous weeks: boris4311, cat, once and world. Oh and, once and world usually play together. Good luck.
