What do the devs do during server restarts?
sensei_tanker replied to sensei_tanker in What do the devs do during server restarts? Archive
A lot of times, for instance yesterday, the devs screwed something up with the MMS and it didn't work right after the server restart. We probably aren't told about minor fixes such as changes to physics, optimization, etc but what do the devs do during server restarts that screw the game up? -
Valid Ability to select spawn area in team battles
sensei_tanker replied to sensei_tanker in Ability to select spawn area in team battles Ideas and Suggestions
Spawn killing in MMS battles are a problem and I think the best solution is to be able to choose where you spawn next. The idea is far from complete so this is a basic version of it: Basically your entire team's base is split into 3 parts: left of flag, center (around flag), and right of flag. Left of flag will be designated the key 1. Center will be designated the key 2. Right of flag will be designated the key 3. Once you are destroyed and respawning, the game's camera angle will be a huge bird's eye view of your team's base. You can see all the tanks in your base, including enemy tanks as well. The spawn areas in your base will be numbered 1, 2, and 3 based on what part of the base (as designated above) the zones are located. With this bird's eye view, you have 5 seconds to select which zone you want to spawn into (you cannot control exactly where you spawn but the general area you spawn into, which are the zones) and you can select by pressing the correct key. The moment you make your decision, you will spawn in your selected zone (so you don't have to wait for the 5 seconds to be up) If the 5 seconds are up and your decision has not been made, you will be sent to a random spawn location. This way, you are able to avoid enemy spawnkillers, spawn near your teammates, spawn near your flag if you need to defend your flag, or spawn anywhere that is most needed in general. For CP , ASL, and mode, the bases are usually across one side of the rectangular map, so it will still be left-side wall, center wall, and right-side wall. -
Music you listen to while battling
sensei_tanker replied to sensei_tanker in Music you listen to while battling Archive
I know a lot of people who listen to music while battling so I started listening to music while battling and I think I play better while listening to it instead of listening to the sounds of TO and I'm officially convinced that I play better listening to some music. Just curious, for those that listen to music while battling, what do you listen to? Do you listen to it because you like the song or does it help add adrenaline/make you perform better? For example, I've only listened to Green Day so far, especially Holiday because it makes me want to assemble an army and overthrow the government. I could use some music suggestions and a nice discussion would be nice, too. -
Legends creativity in renaming themselves
sensei_tanker replied to sensei_tanker in Legends creativity in renaming themselves Archive
As you notice, a lot of legends decide to rename themselves and buy the rename pass. Most of these renaming legends change their username to some random english word, usually a proposition or a verb that's not even important...like "How" or "What" or "Manage" or "Follow" or "Pencil" or "Image" or something like that. Are Legends really willing to spent 18 USD (or the equivalent in different countries) for a simple username? If I had money for a username change, I would make my username the most badass looking username ever (yes, i understand sensei_tanker is not a cool username but that was my first and only username and i wasn't focused on thinking of a super cool username so deal with it) I know a lot of Legends like to name themselves an English vocab word that looks like a "beautiful"/SAT word or something that has to do with destruction type of word but what is up with these random words? -

The most useful/useless role in a team (excluding mult)
sensei_tanker replied to sensei_tanker in The most useful/useless role in a team (excluding mult) Archive
TO in 2018 has these roles (comment down below if you think this list needs changes): 1. Offense - People who steal flags, score goals. They die a lot unless they are actually very good. 2. Defense - People who just sit back, relax, sort of camp at their base, and just defend their flags/goal 3. Midfield - People who take control of the center of the map, go around killing anyone within their range, but don't necessarily launch an attack at the enemy unless a bunch of offensive teammates are invading enemy base. They are usually more offensive than defensive and are sometimes too lazy to deal with enemies invading their base, but will also strive to stop their flag being stolen midway and are usually their team's last line of defense. 4. Camper - Magnum, Shaft, Vulcan, or Thunder who sits in the back of the base and attempts of pick off enemies in the enemy base. They don't really defend unless the enemy with the flag is in their sights. Magnums often clear the enemy base and annoy the hell out of the enemy. With the new alt, Magnum's also place mines in the enemies' base. 5. Healer - An Isida that actually heals over attacking an enemy. 6. Spawn Killers - A teammate who often makes it to the enemy base, but as opposed to an Offensive player, instead of going back to assist flag capture or to defend the controlled points, they camp in the enemies' base and often get 3 drugs at once and start killing the newly spawned enemies. -

Valid Rugby ball pass auto-aim
sensei_tanker replied to sensei_tanker in Rugby ball pass auto-aim Ideas and Suggestions
Problem: Current Rugby Ball has no control to thrower for accurate throws and only has a weak default throw that is usable. Passing is impossible and inefficient. Solution: Add an auto-aim feature to the ball. This will allow: 1. Users ball to travel always at the desired distance. 2. Slight horizontal adjustment to the throw as well for maximum accuracy. 3. The ball to be thrown at a wide set of distances accurately. The set should range from 0 to the range of about an unaltered m4 ricochet. 4. If no target is picked up, it will be the standard throw it is right now. 5. Keeps it simple. This is better than a power up bar (like magnum) because it is too complicated that way and too many keys to hold and concentrate on. TO should be fast paced and comfortable to use. *if this topic is a duplicate, my bad, my internet went out the moment i clicked post new topic the first time i wrote it*- 17 replies

Tanki needs to fix the Lower Ranks
sensei_tanker replied to sensei_tanker in Tanki needs to fix the Lower Ranks Archive
Alternate Accounts vs New Players ----------------------------------------------------------- Drugs harder than Legends vs How do I drug M2s at Sergeant vs Why is that firebird pink At least somewhat skilled vs How do I turn my turret Hardcore Road-to-Legend Buyers vs Non-Buyers Considering how the genre TO is dying quickly, if anything is to blame for the death of TO, it is the alt accounts which guarantee the speedy death of TO. It's gotten so bad now that even if I try starting an alt account and try casually playing (so no purposely completing missions, accumulating drugs, immediately MU my equipment, try out new combos), I get wrecked by M2 Smokies, Titans, and Firebirds once I rank up to Corporal.- 75 replies

The Most Clever Thing You Saw in a Battle Today

Communist Tanki Online - A Hypothetical Scenario
sensei_tanker replied to sensei_tanker in Communist Tanki Online - A Hypothetical Scenario Archive
NOTE: This thread is not up for economic/political debates or discussion. Basically, don't critique whether or not you like any certain political or economic theory. The only discussion allowed here is what if the TO economy was set up similarly to an idea communist economy (with several differences) and how it would actually improve the game. This topic is for fun and thinking and does not and will not have to be a heated debate. Standard Forum Rules Apply. Communism: a political theory derived from Karl Marx, advocating class war and leading to a society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs. [0]In simpler terms, think of Communism as an economic principle where all the money you earn (ok i understand that in a true socialist society there would be no currency) will go to the government, who then would split all the money between all members of society equally. So therefore, each time a player battles, all of his/her prize money would be split between every single active player in TO equally and then distributed. So... you may already be thinking how this is terrible, especially considering how a legend 38 who would have earned 10k crystals from a 3 hour Polygon CP match would have to distribute all of those crystals even to recruits. But keep reading: In this scenario, we are going to assume that there is equal amount of buyers in every rank and all the crystals and equipment you buy will only go to you, and is NOT distributed. And, to be considered an active player, you have to be battling while someone earns a certain amount of crystals and then all of those crystals will be distributed to you. If you are offline or not battling when someone earns crystals, you will not get those crystals, and therefore there are less people to distribute to. Crystals from rank ups and gold boxes will NOT be distributed either. I actually believe that Tanki Online would be a less toxic community this way (even though I oppose communism in today's irl society). Players would begin working together instead of competing with each other. Players would join battles that they might be losing in and still play hard. Now, there is no crystal incentive to joining battles, so naturally, players can join losing battles and still have crystals distributed. The only incentive is to gain EXP, which should be the main focus of the game anyways, and it takes some focus away from winning or losing to just play to your best ability and not worry about others. Battles will be filled up more so players can get there share of crystals. Players will be working together to create battles, increase the battle fund together, and everyone gets crystals. When the sale comes, every non-buyer will have a sufficient amount of crystals because everyone is working hard together to get crystals, thus getting everyone else crystals. Buyers will still have an advantage in the game because of the extra crystals but it will be less because the non-buyers are now able to equip nearly as powerful equipment because everyone makes a base amount of crystals just by battling (so still high incentive to buying). You also can only get cool visuals through buying in this scenario as well. Benefits: 1. High incentive to play everyday and battle so you can share the prize amount. Battles fill up quicker. 2. Buyers still have incentive for buying. 3. Less toxic community because everyone is working together to get everybody crystals. 4. The incentive to perform well still exists, because you still want to gain EXP and rank up. 5. Losing teams will fill up quicker. 6. Less gap between non-buyers. Everyone is guaranteed to make a lot of crystals since everyone is working together to earn crystals. Gap between non-buyers and buyers will probably remain similar to that of right now, unless you have weak equipment, then it will be drastically closed. 7. The emphasis on having fun, create an interesting battle, adding to the battle fund is strengthened, which really makes TO fun and what it should be about. 8. Means of production has been seized. 9. *You fill them up* Drawbacks: 1. Mults could just stick around in battles and still earn crystals. But probably a system will have to be created to identify and auto-kick mults. 2. *You fill them up* -
Flash vs HTML5 - Which one's faster?
sensei_tanker replied to sensei_tanker in Flash vs HTML5 - Which one's faster? Archive
TO devs are always doing some undercover updating and optimizing for both versions to enhance the speed of the game, especially for HTML5. Right now, it has always been that Flash was much faster than HTML5, but since that the devs are working hard (benefit of the doubt), eventually HTML5 will dominate over Flash. This thread is to notify players on when it will be quicker to run TO in HTML5 rather than Flash. -
Money back on M1 Alterations

Mumble Rap/Trap is Trash - Change My Mind
sensei_tanker replied to sensei_tanker in Mumble Rap/Trap is Trash - Change My Mind Archive
I had another topic open, but that thread has proven insufficient and people were definitely not giving me good enough responses as to why they like Mumble Rap. From that topic, too many people were like, "you are listening to the wrong types of trap" and I'm sitting here like what do you mean, I'm listening to what's on top of the charts. And then I get criticized of what music I actually like and I'm like you know what I'm done with that thread. I respect everyone's opinions here until they stop making any sense. I think Mumble Rap/Trap is absolute garbage. Change my mind. -
valid Make ban reason always show in player's interface language
sensei_tanker replied to sensei_tanker in Make ban reason always show in player's interface language Ideas and Suggestions
The reason for a ban is often unknown to the non-Russian players because it's sometimes written in Russian. There is no reason why the reason isn't in English (or the language you are using in TO). I think that the reason for banning should be translatable and it will always be in the language you are playing in.- 1 reply

The Crystal/EXP Ratio is Too Big Now
sensei_tanker replied to sensei_tanker in The Crystal/EXP Ratio is Too Big Now Archive
I'm a free-2-play and I actually have so many m3s (some m4s) that I don't even know what to do with most of my combos. It all started after I decided to come back to the game and then it was so easy getting above 500k crystals many times over and over again. There's actually no point in buying because as a f2p, I can actually get the same tank combos, the only thing missing are paints, where all of them except for 1 is useless (since u only equip 1 and that 1 is ur best looking paint). But it takes way too long to rank up now. It's actually painful and discouraging me, and other players, from playing the game since our progression is way too slow. -

What do people like about Mumble Rap/Trap?
sensei_tanker replied to sensei_tanker in What do people like about Mumble Rap/Trap? Archive
Personally, I think it sucks and I think everyone is entitled to their own opinions about this... but, I've listened to a lot of songs that I think is bad, but Mumble Rap is just a level worse than bad songs (its just as bad as 2016+ pop) in my opinion. *i loved the rap i used to know* Mumble Rap = 0% Melody | 0% Lyrics | 100% Drugs/Violence/Sex On one hand, you have a thing named lil pump, who goes gucci gang gucci gang gucci gang throughout his entire 2 minute "song" and everyone is in love with it. On the other hand, you have a group named migos, who goes "walk it talk it" throughout their entire "song". Post Malone is alright and even though I absolute hate Mumble Rap, I could tell he is like the king of it. But still, do songs have to be about drugs/violence/sex? People always say that they only like it because of the beat in Mumble Rap is good, but every good song has a good beat, mumble rap or not, so that really isn't the reason. My conclusions are that people only like it because: 1. they want to look cool and everyone else likes it and they are desperate to fit in 2. the pop today is absolute garbage, i might make another topic about that. -

Turrets are now too awkward to use now
sensei_tanker replied to sensei_tanker in Turrets are now too awkward to use now Archive
Before I say anything else, let me make this clear that firebird, twins, thunder, and smoky are not related to this topic at all, because they are truly way too easy to use. Ricochet is still awkward, even after that disguised super-buff/balance. Railgun - Everyone's running around with 50%s against you. You dominate everyone who doesn't wear them but your fastest reload time is way too slow compared to what 3 second reload + charge up time gets you. Shaft - Most MMS maps are too small to comfortably camp in now. Mid-range turrets are better at sniping than Shaft now. Shaft's arcade is too strong at close range, shaft's damage is too strong at long range, makes it awkward as hell to use. Isida - You heal someone, drain all of your charge, and you get little EXP back for it. You might as well go for the kill, especially considering how your DPS is almost the highest out of all the turrets, that said, it's also the heal gun of the game. It's energy pool is too short considering how everyone on the map in any mode is a possible target. Freeze - Freezing doesn't do anything at high ranks. You have to AVOID practically everyone who has at least 30% protection against you, which is literally everyone on the map, because your DPS is just not going to cut it (although its better now) and freezing ability is literally non-existant. Firebird and Isida out DPS you. Hammer - The random missing even though you are literally within 1 meter of your target and the fact that it is a short range weapon with a reload much slower than Magnum's make this extremely awkward to use. The time between each clip firing is also way too long to be used viably as a short range weapon. Also, it's a shotgun that kill an enemy far across on the map. Vulcan - Do I really need to say anything? (fine, i will) the charge up time makes me wonder wether or not the the devs are mentally stable (this was supposed to be a buff wasn't it? wth?) The overheating effect is way too much since it's aligned to firebird's burn and the moment you overheat, you're dead. Barrels turn extremely slowly, too. Magnum - It's even more OP than ever, but what the hell, it's now awkward as hell to use it. To make it extremely OP, you charge it up to 100% and then fire horizontally, which is the exact opposite of what it was meant to do, but it is still OP. Think of it as an OP railgun that's weird to use. Striker - The aiming system is garbage. It's too bad at doing what it's supposed to be good at (the lock-on feature is just a distraction, it only works 20% of the time). It's just a thunder that sacrificed all of it's aiming abilities and damage for a slightly faster reload and less modules. Ricochet - Although it is practically OP in my opinion, the recent update made it fulfill the same role that twins does with slightly different parameters. The range nerf got rid of what it was supposed to be able to do, ricochet the shots of walls and hitting targets. It used to be that all the turrets were actually good at doing what they were supposed to do. Now all of the turrets are something that either straight up sucks or is sort of fulfilling a role that is not it's main job. -

Noise/Magnum is a dead map due to the Magnum spamming going on there. But how has it been after the recent Magnum nerf? Is it any better? -

Maybe a player hasn't played for a long time and wants to get back in the game. They want to play but they can't log in because their username changed because someone stole it. Then at the login screen, some text will appear saying that if you haven't logged in for a while, your username has changed to form r_OLDNICKNAME0 plus the link to that username update.
