What Is Your Opinion About the Current State of Tanki Online?
Tanker-Arthur replied to Maf in Game Discussion
I would be perfectly happy if they combined the game mechanics of 2018 with the economy and rewards of 2021. In 2018, the devs tried to make everything balanced and alterations were a thing and they are arguably more fun than the augments we have today, especially to people who can't afford augments and are stuck with the default versions of a turret and hull. Also, no turret got outclassed as there wasn't a campaign to make all turrets inflict afterburn, have projectiles that bounce off walls, or this critical hit crap we got today. And in 2021, we got the Shards update and the Special Missions wer made much easier, in combination with the Stars being added to daily missions in October 2020, helped make the Challenges so much less of a grind than they were a year ago. Overall, combine those two aspects of the game together, and we got the best version of Tanki that ever existed. Oh yeah, and we need Tesla too. Stop procrastinating so much and get it done with, developers. -
I'm pretty sure no one asked for ALL the turrets to get a "critical hit" or "Chance-based" mechanic. We only asked for the Railgun Augments to get that, not all the turrets :(

Next thing you know, just like in 2020, Tanki devs will further increase the exp gain in MM battles by 100 times or so.... Permanently. -
Yes, it decreases based on how much time is left. The longer you wait, the cheaper it gets. FunFact: When there's only about 3 seconds or so left on a Micro-Upgrade, the Speed-Up will actually become free (it will cost 0 crystals).

I know lol. And Smoky, who was the original Critical damage turret, never gets 50% as it's initial critical chance. -

Viking should be like Crusader. I don't like Crusader - I think we have too many hulls and I'm not a fan of Crusader's design and the fact that it's a hovering hull..... But to give it credit, Crusader's overdrive is one of the least annoying overdrives in the game, which is the only reason why I somewhat like it. It's strength is around the same as Dictator's overdrive (minus the team 50% OD charge thing). Heavy Hulls can survive the blast. To make it balanced, they'll still be pretty damaged. But at least they won't always die instantly. Light Hulls can dodge and outmaneuver the Crusader's aim if they're fast enough. Medium Hulls can equip armor buffs to stop Crusader from 1-shotting them. And if they're at a considerable distance, they can use speed buffs to dodge the Crusader's shots. Overall, unlike Viking's overdrive, Crusader makes you strong and gives you a fair boost, but it doesn't turn you so GodMode that you simply wreck everyone in your path, or make yourself close to being invincible, as with the case of Titan's overdrive. It just gives you a nice boost in battles yet it also allows enemies to counter you fairly easily, as with the case of Dictator's overdrive. -
Since it appears Adrenaline doesn't seem to going to be deleted anytime soon, I think of it this way: Take Stock Smoky for example. The maximum actual upgrade you get is Mk7. However, fully micro-upgrading an Mk7 gives you the imaginary "Mk8" (or Mk7+). I like to think of Adrenaline as the "Mk9" version of the turret. Or, if you get Adrenaline before maxing out your turret, like Smoky, to me, it adds a MK level to it. So Mk5 Smoky + Adrenaline = Mk6 Smoky

Balanced, as in... Balanced when compared to weak stuff like Thunder, Twins, Striker and Firebird? Only "weak" cause there's stronger things beating them in battles. Or balanced compared to the strong stuff like (New) EMP Gauss, Default Gauss, Default Magnum, and other stuff like that? Or balanced compared to the super strong stuff like (Old) EMP Gauss and AP Magnum and stuff like that?
-
How is it balanced when 50% of Railgun's shots are critical hits? And it seems like the durations of the effects are simply doubled, which technically makes no difference at all. In fact, stun rounds is buffed cause the stun duration is more than doubled (5 seconds from the original 2 seconds).

The only good things I got were 10 Coinboxes and Ricochet's dumbly-named "SuPeR sMaRt Minus Field" augment (the one that makes you AP enemies after bouncing your shots off walls and obstacles).

I'll probably die before I can open a few hundred Ultra Containers. We get like 7 for free each month or so. (And only if we can complete the special missions that come along with them) So it would even be more than a year before I get my first set of 100 U-Containers.
-
Nothing lol. It's just to see the possible rewards that you can earn from a container and it's varients, but you can also see them in-game anyway.
-
Agreeeeeed. Most fun mode they ever made.
-
Yes, same here :) The economy of this game is amazing, I just wish the game mechanic balance was better.

Yes! One of the frustrating things when I switched to HTML5 was missing easy golds due to me not knowing the gold was dropping, especially when I mute my audio at night so my family can sleep.

What Is Your Opinion About the Current State of Tanki Online?

Well.....yes, actually. For example, Thunder has more damage, but more reload. Smoky has less damage, but less reload. Thunder has splash damage..... Smoky has a critical hit all to itself.... But Thunder has that too now. -
I actually meant all Smoky, Railgun, and all the turrets now have the same critical mechanic. Meaning Smoky's not unique anymore. But yeah, Auto-cannon now has permanent armor-piercing (albeit a weaker version) :(

Well, Smoky is no longer special. Previously, it was the only turret that could do critical damage, and compared to the rest of the other turrets, Smoky's only unique mechanic was the critical damage. Now that all turrets are given critical damage.....Smoky's no longer special in any way. In fact, Thunder now seems like what if you made a new Skin for Smoky that made it look like a different turret and equipped an alteration on Smoky that gave it splash damage. -

Same thing happens to me.... But for me, it occurs many times on every map for some reason and it's super annoying. It's some kind of no-damage bug that's lasted for several months now. On some battles, it's not as persistant, but on other battles, I spend half the time doing do damage with my shots. I even encounter enemies with Magnum who shoot me but they do no damage! Meaning, it can't be cause by my internet's lag or anything like that.
-
Yes. But wanna know what's not disgusting? Gauss got a nerf :D
-
Lol........it's still OP Unlike Thunder, Gauss has far longer range and it's still a better Striker and Shaft. If the splash damage is removed/reduced, just know this: Gauss can still hold its own in a 1v1. It's still a very OP turret. It just doesn't do as well against groups but it can surely still out-perform Firebird, Freeze, Isida, Twins, Ricochet, Hammer, Vulcan, and Striker in a MatchMaking 1v1 scenario.
-
Idk, I like the splash damage reductions. It makes default Gauss somewhat more similar in power to the likes of default Striker and Thunder. In comparison to the long-range turrets, Gauss can do splash damage as it's specialty (Magnum can too, but Magnum is much less reliable). However, the nerfs to Gauss' splash help maintain Gauss' specialty as the only long range turret that can reliably explode multiple enemies at once, and at the same time, makes it so that Gauss cannot out-class Thunder, who was the original splash damage turret. In my opinion, all Gausses still need a nerf, primarily because they are still super annoying to fight against due to them being unable to shoot at you and do massive damage without any warning at all.
-
Well, at least Gauss got nerfed :D
