    Open & Closed Beta

The fact that you actually had to post this is both amusing and disheartening. I bet someone asks when Tanki 2.0 is coming out regardless of this post.

Highest Rating Person You Have Killed?

Well whether they bought it or earned it, Marshals have every right to play and use drugs if they want. Just stay out of the high level games if you don't like it.

    Nova Charge!

Or how about we use existing power ups. They seem to do just fine doubling your damage on a target. Yeah!

    Map Idea: Paris

I could put it together in sketchup in a very rough fashion, merely putting together the terrain concept along with buildings and possibly walls. If the 3d rendering software used by tanki is as easy to deal with as sketchup, along with a decent tutorial, I am sure I can make it work using existing elements. 3D is not that hard to work with if you have an easy to learn tool, possibly one that is not in russian.

What to buy? What to use?

First always refer here when deciding on upgrades. The statistics are laid out for you to easily reference. If you can afford an M2 Rail, I am pretty sure you are not far from affording an M1 Thunder (roughly a 500 crystal difference if I am correct). M2 rail has OHKO kill power at lower levels but if are shooting at dictators, vikings, M0 / M1 hornets with rail resistant paint like safari or even fully upgraded hunters you are not killing anything if you are the first shot. For example I am currently driving a M1 Hornet with Safari, and M3 rails rarely cut me down. It is usually the second shot from another attacker that takes me out. Truly it is all a matter of preference though. I personally like thunder because if you group up with a couple of rails, you can KS them after they take the first shot on a target. With Thunder at M1 you can almost get off two shots (3.16+3.16 = 7.32) prior to the M2 Rail gun reloading and charging (6.0+1.1= 7.2/secs). Add in aim time as most railers use cover for survival unless they are in a covered sniping spot, and it usually exceeds 7.32. Add in the splash damage of the Thunder for potential multi-kills with one shot and it makes a good weapon for me. If you like making a OHKO (One Hit Knock Out) shot and feel like M3 Rail is easier to reach than say a M2 Thunder then go for it. If you like the idea of getting a "Tier 2" weapon and using it for the long haul, then go Thunder. I would recommend though, that if you have enough cash to purchase Thunder now, and play with it for a little bit to see if you like it, then do it. Nothing beats testing in a live environment and you have no risk as your money comes back to you in 2.0.

    Map Idea: Paris

Water is not required, just a gap like in madness or highland (per someone elses thread). They may not institute my ideas, but it only takes me a couple of seconds to type it up and maybe someone reads it. Who knows. I think this is a pretty basic idea though as most tank battle enthusiasts know, many battles were waged on key cities split by rivers. In the midst of slowing down artillery many bridges were sacrificed to force them to take a longer route to the front line. This idea would help recreate that type of battle.
  7. Twins are a barrage weapon, while other weapons have different characteristics, twins ability to maintain constant pressure with low damage is what makes it effective. You just have to give up range to get that feature. PROS - Constant Pressure / Firing capability - Kickback capability - Extremely short recharge - Fairly fast firing rate (shots per second) CONS - Low Damage per shot - Medium range - Constant turret maneuvering - Can't really "shoot and hide" or leverage cover as you have to maintain Line of Sight (LOS) with both guns to be effective. Effectively making you an easy target for anyone that wants to shoot at you. Twins are most effective if you can move in range undetected or evade / absorb the initial attack of a slow recharge weapon and get on your target. They are not used significantly by higher level players. They seem fairly well balanced to me and the price is efficient for lower level players to become competitive quickly. I see nothing wrong with that.
  8. Generally speaking most people don't think that far ahead. It is much easier just to use the simple tips posted by myself and mehdadoo in his thread. Also driving around and snatching up crystals as a whole, is a significantly less efficient way to earn crystals vs. helping your team win by being effective and scoring points through kills / flag grabs / healing (as is the case with isidia). If we are talking about what is the fastest and most efficient weapon to make crystals then hands down it is Isidia for the following reasons: 1. you don't have to interact with the enemy to score points. In fact you score more points healing friendlies vs. killing enemies. 2. You get points for incremental healing, meaning you score regardless of whether or not you fully heal your team mates. You don't get points for half killing an enemy 3. It is the second cheapest "tier 2" weapon available. I classify it as tier 2 because it is still used heavily in high rank games, the cheapest being rail gun with its OHKO potential 4. You can be fully upgraded by WO2, which means you can climb higher on the points list and earn more crystals sooner than other weapons. 5. Even at M2 it is pretty effective and cheap

    Map Idea: Paris

So I have absolutely no 3-d skills or programming skills so I am just going to have to throw out my map ideas and hope one of the map maker guys hooks into my brilliance. For my first map concept I am going to request Paris. Paris will mimic Düsseldorf or Berlin but have a new concept, an uncrossable river except by bridge. Yes in the dead center of the map multiple bridges (maybe 3) will cross over an empty space for which if you are knocked in, you die. Steps should be created and walkways created to mimic the areas where people can walk riverside. Open road areas will run next to this river and then buildings will provide cover. Maybe the placement of an open square on each side where a flag can be placed to mimic a park or somethiing of that nature. Essentially to control the map, you have to control the crossing points of the river. Good luck putting it all together map maker guy that steals my idea.

Highest Rating Person You Have Killed?

I think it would be much more interesting to find out how many times those high ranked opponents killed you.
  11. Not necessarily, you can just make more incremental levels between 1-5 with 5 being the current M3 settings. Price could also be reset so that new players feel like they are making upgrades on their M0's much quicker. You don't have to make an upgrade to existing M3 weaponry at all and the current pricing strata can stay in place. I don't really like this idea, just wanted to point that out. I like the current system, I just want MORE weapons, not more levels of weapons.

This is a must!!! I'm glad someone likes my Turnip, potato and vodka holiday crystal idea.

IS the new paint for the halloween only ?

^^This pretty much sums it up. Just read the descriptions instead of posting this in the forum. The paint description says it all.

    BANKING SYSTEM:

As for stashing drugs, the fridge is probably the best place. Maybe they could make a Fridge section in the garage to stash your drugs. As for the Money Bank, what would be the interest earned on my crystals. Can we have competing banks? Can I become a bank, lend crystals to people that apply to make large purchases prior to them attaining them and make 14% interest. Could I also repo their gear and resell it on the market in an auction if they fail to make payments per a schedule we set forth in our agreement? I like this idea.

Then can we get some crystals for the Turnip festival and potato harvest whilst we drink vodka and lash each other with birch limbs in the sauna at the Dacha?

Last Survival ( Game Mode ) VOTE! Vote

Meh, this idea would be better in team mode where the players that die can't respawn until after the entire team is annihilated.

Would you say isida m0 is good for only healing?

You just have to remember that the higher the M value on Isidia, the more energy you pull off your enemy (50%), creating a higher survival rate. Also, you are reliant on your team to make kills. It is really not a unit where you can solo and be effective, hence the reason why you gain XP for healing as well as killing. I have seen quite a few people mounting Isidia on viking units. M3 Isidia with M3 Viking on drugs is about as "unstoppable" as you get. Hard to take down a unit that moves at 7.5mps with 150HP and a self healing/healing/killing turret mounted on top. If you want to measure how effective this can be at a lower level, try an M1 hornet as the speed and turning capability are exactly the same. Imagine that with over twice as many HP, and a little wider body style. Pretty nasty if you ask me. The other train of thought is mounting on a Hornet. M3 Isidia with M3 hornet is pretty "stealthy" and can sneak up on you quickly. Add drugs to the mix then they become very good at peeling off of an attack group and going for a flag and just like that you are trying to chase down 10mps unit with 100 HP on drugs. Also very hard to do.

    One-sided Maps

No knowledge of any of those things, but potential one-sided maps might be improved if they submit them to a beta test prior to release.

    Upgrading for new players: Revised

I wrote this article in another thread, but everyone seemed to appreciate it and asked that I post a stand alone thread with the contents. This is essentially a means to figure out an upgrade path that makes sense, both fiscally and for xp when you first start out in tanki. I am just going to do some quick math to show newer players why upgrading smokey is better than going to an M0 or even an M1 Rail. Pricing: M0 - M3 Smokey Total Cost = 420 M0 - M1 Rail Total Cost = 450 Smokey is Cheaper Shots Per Minute: M3 Smokey = 37.5 M1 Rail = 8.2 So M3 Smokey can roughly shoot 4 shots to every 1 Shot for M1 Rail Max Damage: So Let's look at Max Damage per shot using the 4 shots to 1 ratio M3 Smokey Max Damage = 24 M1 Rail Max Damage = 51 4(24) vs 1(51) 96 vs. 51 NOTE: I use the 4:1 value because most early levels don't have units that have over 100 HP, so if you are in a "like Rank" game you won't need much more than 4 shots to kill your enemy. So their you have it, a cheaper gun, and better gun for newer players. Add in the fact that you can redirect may units firing down on you and it does a fairly good job. I personally prefer my M2 rail over the M3 smokey, but that is just a preference thing and I had amassed enough crystals to upgrade all the way to the M2 without any issues. Use these concepts when identifying your upgrade path. Don't get "dazzled by a gun".

    One-sided Maps

Some maps just frustrate me to the point of no return. In fact I wish they would just scrap them altogether because they clearly lean in favor of one team over the other. So what is a One-sided map? A one-sided map is one where if both teams are of both equal skill (and units), one team clearly has an advantage over the other. So let's get to the largest two offenders: SILENCE: Advantage Blue over Red. Reasons: Red essentially is forced into to two choke points to get a shot at a flag. The first choke point being the ramp on the far left that puts you on blue flags level. The second choke point being the two buildings on the right at the top of the ramp. There are no other ways to approach getting the flag. Other reasons include that Blue can basically cover the ramp, and cover one entire side of the platform behind the buildings with snipers in a higher position. Blue has the luxury of attacking from roughly five positions (ramp from flag, behind the pipe on the drop off platform, and then from 3 different positions after making it through the buildings) and with limited ability for red to defend those areas (unlike blue). Solution: Eh, this one needs some work. I would first say add another ramp off that drop-in platform in the middle of the map. Also limit blue's sniping ability on the platform behind the two buildings entry. Also remove a portion of that pipe that separates those two areas to open up Red's ability to remove some snipers. Also at the top of the long ramp that goes up into blue's flag, provide more room for multiple units to move into the zone and attack. At best right now you can only get about 3 units attacking at the top of that ramp at any time. Providing a little more cover for attackers wouldn't hurt either OR limiting blue's ability to shoot/isidia units via a wall coming up the ramp. At least let red get to the top before taking on fire. HIGHLAND: Advantage Blue over Red Reasons: This is about as easy as it gets. Blue's flag is at the end of a single solitary choke point, in which you have to go through a single solitary choke point to even get too the bridge. Good luck getting that flag without a stack of talent on red. You can at least attack Red from two points with 3 points of entry to those two points. To attack blue, you have to run a gauntlet to get past the first wall on their side, past their main respawn point, over a bridge, to another respawn point, and back. Good Freaking luck. Solution: Well Highland II was a start, have yet to play it but it at least gives Red a couple more options. I still don't like that both of options have limited cover, unlike one of blue's options, but it is improved. NOISE Slight Advantage Red over Blue Reason: This is easy, anyone on red can just drop off one side of the map and land on blue's flag. I also call this a slight advantage because it is usually easier to attack on ramps down - up than vice versa. Also red's flag is in a much more open area and if blue can get it, they can drop off the map too. Also once you drop onto the flag it is some tight space so if blue is there, you need to drug to survive. Solution: Build a wall on that drop off point.

    Drug user

I find that when I use drugs I have trouble playing the game. Makes it far to hard to pay attention and use your drugs.
