    Ideas for Maps!

Cool Idea, I'd be excited for more themed maps Thats why we're going to pick up activity next year. We need to start a revolution

    [Issue 45] Holiday MapMaking

Hard to tell. I would think they are for us, as they can host any map they want to test in a server. The .swf file run through the flash player is a treat for us. It doesn't work very well, but at least its something. I think you might be talking about the "loading error" that comes up when the props are loading. All the textures you need should be there. If there are specific places where props and/or their textures are missing, please describe, name, or screenshot them so we have a clear understanding of the issue. I don't work with the Mac OS at all so I can't tell you how to get that going. A flash player was included in the folder you downloaded, I don't know if that is accessible to you or not. As I understand, the .swf files and flash do not mix with Mac, but apparently AIR applications work?

    [Issue 45] Holiday MapMaking

These rules were mistakenly taken from the original draft of the rules when the contest was set to be submission by comment. They have been edited to reflect the current PM submission system.
  4. What specifically are you talking about? Then I can get a better understanding of what you're calling me out for.
  5. Updated. To be fair, if you click the link to the archived topic on the first page, you were not on the list under Bangladesh...

    NATN-Issue 1-Definitions of 'noob'

Gee, I wonder where this originated. I'm not accusing you of stealing the idea. Just saying; been there. Nice try.

    [Issue 45] Holiday MapMaking

You have the time to do learn how. 15 minutes is what it should take at max to download everything and be ready with props. Can add another 5 minutes to associate yourself with the props. I'm sure you have 20 minutes of down time per day, as you are posting on a forum, which isn't a mandatory life task. I'm afraid the software does not work on either Mac or Chrome. Sorry guys. There is UnRarX for mac.

    [Issue 45] Holiday MapMaking

Hey, I understand the frustration (because this is the only contest). I'm sure you get mad at every photoshop contest enacted in the paper. However, as with any guide in the paper, it is provided to help increase your fluency in different areas. Like those guides, this still gives you the opportunity to expand your knowledge and creativity, especially. While I haven't written any guides for MapMaking (yet), it is still a viable subject that is under-appreciated and is worthy of event, no matter the 'predisposed' difficulty.

    [Issue 45] Holiday MapMaking

The biggest learning curve for me, which is still troubling to this day, was working with the software (sometimes it doesn't work in your favor). I had to ask for help and read guides on how to start map making. I inform you on how to start with the minimum needed to get you on your way. Once you get past the software, its like playing with building blocks or plastic Lego pieces.

    [Issue 45] Holiday MapMaking

Its that time of year when we look forward to the presents; a holiday map from the Tanki Gods, and I guess the discounts too. But have you ever thought to yourself I could do that! This is your chance to show off your skills in map making. The goal is to make a winter themed map, with the holiday tree included. Read on for more info. Rules: 1. The map you submit must demonstrate your personal work and should be unique unto you. Submitting others work is prohibited. 2. You mustn't take any current game map, former game map, or contest entry map and recreate/change it for the contest. Brand new maps are what we're looking for. 3. Only the props in the "library" folder of the TanksTestingTool you will receive can be used. External prop usage is not advised. If you did not find a certain prop that you felt you needed, please describe it or post a picture of what you wanted. 4. Gameplay area of the map cannot be bigger than 51x51 spaces. You can extend the borders past what will be played on, but its not required. 5. File size cannot be bigger than 2,401 kb. 6. You cannot post your submission on this topic. You must send it to the designated account. Your submission must only contain one map and you only have one chance to submit, any other maps sent after the first will not be scored. 7. Absolutely no off-topic discussion. Only questions/comments concerning the contest are allowed. 8. Integrating the Holiday tree prop into the map is required. However, that prop does not run in TTT, so you will have to test your map without it in order for it to work. Now that you've been briefed, I'll help you get started. Here are the download links to Alternativa Editor (AE) and TanksTestingTool (TTT), along with a guide to the AE. Once you've downloaded them both, look bellow for further instruction. Alternativa Editor (guide <--- Strongly recommended you read this) Holiday Map TestingTool (comes with an exclusive holiday map I made named after Orenburg) :excl: Disclaimer - The software does not work on Macintosh or Chrome-book operating software. Set up for work: Using TTT: Uploading and posting: 1. Once you are content with your map, create a new folder named after title of your map and paste a copy of the map file. Please include a version of the map file without the holiday tree and another with the tree, lablled with "WT" after the map name. (map_name.xml and map_name_WT.xml) 2. Right click the folder and create an archive 3. Upload the compressed file to Dropbox or MediaFire 4. PM the map to @Vikingsrallentando with the title "Holiday MapMaking 2015." The post should look as follows: Map Name: - Number of players: - total (-vs-) Download Link: - Example Map Name: Orenburg Number of players: 20 total (10 vs 10) Download Link: http://www.mediafire.com/download/u8j35m1w5torm1d/Holiday_Map_Testing_Tool%282%29.rar Additional description can be added. Optional. I think that about sums it up. Prizes? In the form of crystals. Amounts? Will be dependent upon the quality of submissions! You must have your map posted by 22:00 UTC-0 on the 5th of January, 2016. Results of the contest will be announced in the next issue. Happy Holidays everyone; Now get to Work!

[Issue 45] The Unemployed Column #6

Six articles and two contests in the latter half of 2015. Not bad. We hope you've enjoyed and will continue to next year. We are, however, seeking more detailed feedback. We like hearing about which occupation you'd choose, but we want to know what the column means to you. Is it funny? What keeps you coming back? What do you think can be changed? Keep these in mind as you read the final Column of the year. Take care. Video Engineer Your House Interested to do a job that would ultimately get you blocked from Tanki? Then this is your chance- Show off your video-editing skills and your super-power to humiliate someone! Make funny YouTube videos that would make you popular among Tanki audience - videos related to hacks are encouraged- make sure your username is hidden in the video. We are giving you a perfect job for a perfect noob. Account suspension is guaranteed. Music Director Stadium Map We are looking for a new Music Director to help with our band. We will be performing a rendition of 1812 Overture at the Stadium Map. Requirements: At least 5 years experience as a music director Must be good with kids Must have a good medical plan (just in case, nothing to worry about - honest!) We have corrected the problem with our Thunder turrets - we now have them pointed AWAY from the podium. This part of the band has finally learned to rotate their turrets. You will be safe. I promise. Our sincerest apologies to our previous directors. Drill Sergeant The Battlefield Wish someone would just whip your team into shape? Want them to stop chatting incessantly and go for the point? You must be ready to whip your team into shape, from destroying tanks, to capturing points. You must heap upon abuse in failures. Must know way around chat censorships to be effective. Minimal knowledge of English language necessary, only must know “SHUT UP” “GET TO POINT” “CAPTURE FLAG” and “NOOB TEAM”, knowing more insults the better. If they don’t listen and lose, it is not your fault. And always remember, if you don’t use caps lock, you are a wuss. Video Engineer The Tank Side of YouTube AND Videomakers of The Forum Would you like to further separate glorious Tanki from other, uninviting tank games? Simply purchase an editing program, then add ridiculous effects to artificially make videos "better"! Follow @a_bo0dii's example of flashes that beautifully highlight skill or close calls (whilst burning retinas at the same time). You must have a variety of videos, such as epic gold catches, gold fails, golds friends let you take... Subscribers will never get bored! The Unemployed Column is not responsible for any tears and smashed keyboards over being called a noob, tankers laughing at you for not taking every single gold, or blocked accounts. [Issue 45] Picky Presents

Greetings tanker! I'd like to wish you happy holidays by getting you into the spirit of the times. There are many things that we all look forward to this time of year; holiday decorations and Rudolph are no exception. The nostalgia of this time is directly associated with these things we've come to know and love. For some, it is IMPOSSIBLE to go without these things. I encourage you to grab a hot cup of cocoa, and slip into the spirit with a Haiku, Limerick, and Occitan Sonnet by yours truly. Holiday Pine Tree Nurtured over several years Consumed in a month Taanik the red-nozzledd bright-blue-tank; Greatly underrated for his rank. Sadly without a home, Yet to light someones road. But at least hes fast upon a hard spank! Sirens cannot match the silence of the night; As we rave 'round holiday cups by day, And civil ventures when the time is nigh; Repetition, a far too common play. Celebration not all to the degree Observed by its native source followers. You dare not change what is supposed to be; For our Lord, displayed for outside watchers. Essence absent, subsequently drying Out our morale task of spreading some cheer. One cannot stand what are not controlling? Results in clogging the submissive ear. Failure to meet demands is insulting Only to those that selectively hear. Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed. ...

    Announce your epicness questionnaire

I would love to go hunting some rabbs. Water? Yeah I don't know about helicopters But it tells people what key turns the turret at the bottom of the screen...Devs suggest that its too hard for people with the keys as is. Its their reasoning for adding mouse controls. Going against my Chicken loyalty, I have to say yes
  18. Updated the List. Can't add names by hearsay, they have to go on the record by making a comment. I don't buy it. I entered a L instead of an I -_- wat Change honored. Apologies for overlooking it the first time. I get in the habit of going by the posting account.

[Issue 44] The Unemployed Column #5

The fifth installment of the column has arrived and it brings some changes. Its time for TriNitroToluene and I to share the writing responsibilities with the faithful readers of the paper. We now showcase the winners of the "Help Needed - Occupations for the Unemployed" along with ours. Check them out! Social Activist The Forum Are you a charismatic leader looking for a purpose? Your job is to join a cause, and support it with all your might, mind and strength. We are seeking inspiring leaders ready to take up movements such as Tanks Rights and Isida Equality. If not willing to sacrifice your day's salary of Chicken, this is not the task for you. Above all, we are looking for employees who strive to bring good to society, for example instructing the masses that ADMINS DON'T DROP THE GOLDBOX. Be prepared to work long hours, and to Try, try, try, try, and try again. Zookeeper Valley We need you to contain bad combinations in Valley. You must keep the mammy fires, wasp twins, and Wasp shafts in the center valley. To let them out will result in the corruption of Tanki. We CAN´T have anything other than Hornet Rails playing Tanki. We need a big hull that can block the ramps, and use thunder for crowd control(Bulldozer kit) . Keep in mind that these specimens are extremely rare, so DON´T kill them. Remember, even though nobody joins any Valley battles, you MUST keep it ready for random visitors. The best Keepers get 1% protection paint against shaft. Tour Operator Any Map Do you like noobs; those clueless, dimwitted tankers who don’t seem to know what turret turning is? You’re in luck. A position as a tour operator, nothing is better. You must be able to withstand an inflated amount of pressure, have a marvelous sense of coordinates and direction, be obliged to perform various stunts to impress beginners, no smokies or thunders. Too explosive for the youngbloods. Over all, you must sustain working both evenings and mornings, at least 18 hours a day. Be patient, fellow hope-to-be employee, and good luck with those n̶o̶o̶b̶s̶ ̶w̶h̶o̶ ̶t̶h̶i̶n̶k̶ ̶M̶a̶m̶m̶o̶t̶h̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶f̶a̶s̶t̶ potential customers. Referee The Servers Have you ever wanted to make the game better by watching boring matches for hours on end? Then this is your best opportunity for that! A tolerance of whiny fans trying to talk to the spectator is a must. Appropriate course of action must be taken when players are throwing hissy fits and/or refusing to play. Such action should be removal of the game and cited community service. Your warning cards are yellow and your ban cards are red. Don't hesitate to blow the whistle for common infractions like narcotics and off-sides. Previous editions: #1, #2, #3, #4 Which position are you going for? With first edition contest winners.
