Hornet always remains stronger than Wasp, is more stable, and accelerates faster. But if you really like speed, yeah... I would pick Wasp, it's really fast in the corners aswell. ^_^

I often use Smoky on Wasp, and it's a great combo after some practice. Only driven Hornet with Smoky in the test server, well it's stable... that drifting ability though can get cause problems when going around corners. Wasp has great grip, I definitely find that usefull since Smoky needs direct contact to deal damage, thus sometimes you'll need to follow tanks. But ohh; Smoky isn't designed for area's with lots of walls... I'm pretty sure it will fit well on Hornet too. Personally, I would prefer Wasp... but this comes from someone who doesn't have a Hornet in the garage.

Thunder is better at longer range now, you can still deal great damage at medium distance with Smoky. Preferably open ground... as Smoky needs direct contact to deal damage, contrary to the splash damage of Thunder. Which is why I think Thunder should've stayed the 'shotgun'... the range of both weapons have a negative effect on their special abilities.
