    [Issue 24] 90K - 100K Crystal Paint Review

RUSTLE – 10% Isida, 20% Freeze, 32% Thunder The only true golden paint a tanker can buy in the garage! Rustle was considered the best overall coating when it was first introduced to the garage a few years ago, along with Spark and Python. Deathmatch and Capture the Flag game victors always had at least one thing in common with each other: this paint. However, due to the various rebalances to the game, this awesome looking paint has been cut down a good deal in terms of actual value, now residing in the cheaper half of paints in the game, at 90,500 crystals. Looking at its current statistics, it is fairly obvious what a tank wearing this “kraska” (Russian for Paint) should be doing, and where it should be. It protects against three of the most popular turrets in the game, all to a decent degree. Two of these resisted turrets, Isida and Freeze, are common short range tools of destruction, and Thunder is typically a medium range turret. So, looking at those facts, the ideal utilization of this paint would be put into effect in close to medium range positions, relative to enemy tanks. Good tanks for Rustle would be rather quick, as to maneuver rapidly around clumsier tanks that would take a longer time to destroy, while keeping a decent level of stability. So, Hornet and Hunter are ideal. Weapons should most probably be mid to short range themselves, so Isida (not preferred due to its relatively low damage output), Freeze, Firebird, Twins, Ricochet, and even Thunder would all be great to use with this paint. Like at all times, remember to keep to side roads and trails, and avoid charging to the enemy base in the open. WINTER – 5% Firebird, 5% Railgun, 18% Thunder, 38% Shaft Winter used to be one of the most basic paints in the garage, originally, and was among the cheapest! The developers have obviously changed that, in order to benefit the good camouflage capacities of this specific paint. First off, disregard the 5% resistances. They do nothing but keep friendly Isidas happy (even with micro upgrades, they’re still negligible). So, what we’re looking at is about a 1/5th blocking of all Thunder shots, and about 2/5th of every blast from a Shaft. These protections would respectively shave 14 and 75 points their designated weapons’ ideal damages at M3. In order to put that respectable Shaft protection to use, Winter should be the paint of snipers at the mid to upper ranks of the battlefield, and should be replaced by the more appropriate Jade paint when possible. Ideal tanks could be pretty much any of them, depending on which map you are playing on. Big, open maps like Stadium call for the heavier tanks that can take a beating, like Mammoth or Titan, and maps with more nooks and crannies like Lost Temple or Berlin necessitate speedier, smaller tanks like Hornet and Wasp. Ideal weapons with this paint would typically be Railgun and Shaft, though Thunders and Smokies could be used by skilled players, effectively. As a bonus, this paint’s texture and coloring proves to be somewhat discreet and stealthy while hidden in thick sections of vegetation in winter-themed maps. LOAM – 10% Freeze, 10% Thunder, 10% Ricochet, 36% Firebird Loam has always been a paint for the close range kind of fighters, who enjoy jutting into enemy lines from time to time, drawing out a few overaggressive enemies to where teammates can finish them off, at which point said tankers can rush back into the enemy base for the now unguarded flag. Its moderate protection against three mid to close range weapons that can deal massive amounts of damage is a plus, especially when they’re all accented by an unusually high resistance to the most devastating of weapons in the game – the inferno known as Firebird! This paint is good for tankmen who want to go in for the flag, and escape with a decent amount of health. Ideal tanks would have sufficient energy reserves, and at least a medium speed, to take the beating that comes with taking any flag. So, Viking, Dictator, and possibly Titan would all be appropriate choices to accompany this coating. Ideal weapons would be effective in close range quarters themselves, such as Firebird, Twins, Freeze, and Ricochet.

[Issue 24] How to Make Friends!

I've been around Tanki Online for four years, going on five next March. One of the most frequent questions I am asked is "Why do you still play?" The first time I was asked that, it stumped me at first, making me think for a while before I gave an answer. Sure, playing and ranking up is fun, contests are nice to have a part in, but the single most interesting part of the whole experience of Tanki Online? Socializing, and making friends and new acquaintances! Battles are elevated to whole other level if you're in the same Skype conference as your teammates, or even your dueling opponent. I hope this article will help, or at least give you a thought to make an effort to realize this truly beneficial aspect of the game and its resources. Trust me, you won't have any regrets! Step #1: Finding Possibles! Please, PLEASE, do not go to the game chat lobby or forum and start asking people to be your friend - that course of action will never end well for you, whether it be a ban for flooding, or a miniature flame war with another user you've annoyed. No, the better way to get a healthy set of acquaintances is to go the lobby or forum, or even a battle chat, and just type a message that is intelligent, maybe making a point about a new map or game feature, or even something you really like about your turret or hull. Or, things pertaining to real life could be seen as a good discussion starter, as well. The point is, make a good impression to everyone who reads the chat, and come across as someone people wouldn't be annoyed to talk to. And don't start to chit chat if you're in the middle of an active game, especially if the battle fund is in the 4 + range - people will start to call you a mult and report you to game moderators. Step #2: Talking & More If you do happen to find someone(s) responding to you, go ahead and carry on the conversation for as long as you can - let them leave the first time. This is more etiquette than anything. Stay intelligent and thoughtful of the other person, and try to learn how they talk, and respond accordingly in a way you think they may interpret as friendly and welcoming. A few "Thank you's" or "Good idea!" can go a long way when two people first meet. Before your conversing buddy has to go, ask them to either accept the in-game friend request you just sent them, or get their email or Skype username. If they say no, accept it with gratitude nevertheless, and see if you can talk to them again after a battle some other time. If they do end up agreeing to expand your relationship, request them to add you to their contact list on Skype, or email them, promptly. Punctuality and quick responses are good traits to have and maintain - even on the internet. :) Step 3: Maintenance This is where your mindset and motives start to show. If you really want said friend to stay a good acquaintance, or even a buddy to help you in battles, you'll act accordingly. Dropping them a friendly message on Skype once in a while, sending them an interesting link via electronic mail, or inviting them to a tight battle can all help strengthen friendships. However, if you start finding yourself 'blah-ed' by the person, then you probably won't stay friends for very long. It is 'just the Internet,' but having an intellectual affinity for another person is always a necessary characteristic of any kind of relationship. To recapitulate, and add: 1.) Be friendly and outgoing, but never too eager. 2.) Stay mature and smart, and a lot more people will want to converse with you, a lot more often. 3.) Remember: You get out what you put in, and never more. 4.) Keep your friends interested- don't keep your conversations to single topics. 5.) Be yourself- it's easiest that way. :) All in all and after a while, you may have found yourself a person you are really glad to have been talking with and spending your online time with! You could learn more about his or her culture, life, and how things are wherever they live. That is one of the amazing qualities of the internet- you can learn so much about things that you mightn't have ever had the chance to experience otherwise. Being able to socialize with anyone you'd like to is a wonderful privilege to have, and I hope this article will help you, dear reader, to discover that. :) See you in the battle!
  7. All you can do is apply for the positions that are available.
  8. ^All in good time- things get boring after they get predictable! :) And thanks for the praise and criticisms, guys!
  9. Thanks for the feedback! I was trying to nail the generalities in the article. Also, individual player expertise was not taken into account there.
  10. ^Champion, Acid, Lucky 7, Star, and Helper of the Month paints all technically add health, as they have varying resistances to all weapons in the game. As for speed, just use microupgrades and N2O!

    What is your "old Tanki"?

For me, it was when there were under 300,000 players, and the mine was first introduced, and the best tanks were railgun/isidas on dictators with digital and jaguar paints.
