Reduce power of garage supplies

Recommended Posts

cmon guys don't be selfish, if you hate drug wars you can always join or create a battle without drugs.

tanki staff need money to pay the bills and it's their job so they need to have a salary as well.

DRUGS is the only thing that isn't lasting forever in the game so the buyers need to buy it over and over again, when the buyers buy drugs the tank staff get their money and i'm pretty sure it isn't even enough for their Internet bill.

so i say let buyers buy drugs and if you can buy something from them, just do it and support them to keep this game alive.

+ i am not a drugger  and i also hate drugs but i know that removing the drugs will be a huge lose to the tanki online. and i don't want that to happen because i love this game and i want to keep it alive.

so i found my own solution to enjoy this game by joining pro battles.

IMHO it's pretty obvious. The PRO pass will be more expensive for high ranks and a lot cheaper for low ranks.

True, but there is a little more to it.

It is not just about price, it is also about expectation of what to get. Or the need to have it anyways.

Basic idea (could be)

So the basic price idea could reflect the amount of crystals you earn at your rank during x hours of gameplay.

This makes cheap prices for lower ranks while it keeps high prices for higher ranks.

Average online time per rank (could be)

On the other hand you also have to consider the average amount of time a rank-class spends in the game.

Maybe most of the beginners are here just for an hour a day and so pro pass purchase consumes more percentage of their daily online time... while when they later get really into it they start ot play longer per day and the pro pass consumes less percentage of their daily online time.

Need and Urgency (could be)

And third you have no urgent need for that at lowest ranks.. so there is maybe not even a point buying those. The absolute beginners up to 10k exp.points have not even an idea of so many things in the game.. afterwards it becomes interresting.

And the higher ranks seems to simply need a pro pass. At my ranks I know noone without a pro pass.

So this again gives you.. a possibilty to adapt the prices to need.

Sure.

But as the world does not stand still, also Tanki can think of solutions to get more players to have fun in the game.

Remember: Where my fun is, there I spend my money on ;)

So rather to bann drugs all for ever we try to search other ways around that issue. So don't let yourself distract by some extreme opinions here that do not consider the basic facts (tanki needs money) you pointed out in your post. Maybe also you have some ideas on how tanki could survive (business wise _and_ with happy users ) while there is a way to circumvent heavy drugging.

ps: damn.. again such a long post :/

they already gave us 2 solutions

1. smart cool downs

2. pro battles (drugs off)

i have more than 3k of each drug because i play pro battles.

they stopped heavy drugging by adding smart cool downs, now a player have to wait 30 sec.before activating another drug. if you call this heavy drugging i guess you don't remember how it was before smart cool downs.

I also played in the times before smart cooldowns. I agree that smart cooldowns are a good thing that made it better.

But take a look at Rustys screenshot.. see how 3..4 druggers dominate a game.. regardless of smart cooldowns.

If I don't get you wrong, your argument reads like "hey, we have invented the motor cycle.. so stop talking about vehicles with 4 wheels, you already have 2! We are finished solving this".

One part that I like about Tanki is that is is a process of continous improvement.

Balanced weaponary instead of single combo overpowerness, maps, gameplay, crystals box removal, ... all that are a pain at the moment they come.. but over the long run a good thing. Lets keep that up.. and not stay still.

(@overpowerness: hammer and vulcan are new.. lets see)

I like the add idea.

and offtopic:

I think so as well.. and for hammer too. Sooner or later.. we will see ;)

And yes.. it will make the people mad.. (depending on how much they nerve it at a time)

But still I belive that a good balanced game makes more sense and much more fun on the long run, then a game where you know that you need to buy a certain weapon to be overpowered.

In my opinion verpowered weapons lead to two types of players:

- the one who adopt and purchase it -> less diversity, less fun

- the ones who do not like the gameplay with this certain gun, keep loosing, and leave the game -> less players, less fun, less income

So overpowerness is simply.. bad and boring.

One of the guys in the vlog once said a very true word. It was like:

"Purchase and play the guns that make fun to you, and not the one that seems to be strongest. And they take care of the balance later on."

Yeah,I don't request that the drugs should be entirely removed.I suggest that the cool-downs be reduced or at least the repair kit is nerfed.I'am sure how a player feels when a druggist uses a Repair kit at THE CRUCIAL MOMENT.I suggest strongly that Repair kits are to be nerfed in any way.Of course,I don't say that the drugs be removed completely.

Look at Clash Of Clans. The game is a freemium game but the free users don't get too under-privileged.If you have played that game, you could have understood it.

Average amount of supplies on active account is around 500 units. Towards high ranks it goes even higher. RustyNail got nothing.

This is an achievement and this is also a "game over" state which explains why he is so much upset about playing vs players with supplies.

Let's assume that TO plays around 5% of donating users (this is a common number around free2play games). You can't find them in every battle. This is somewhat almost impossible to fight with donating user in every battle due to their low numbers. Who you can find in every battle are non-donating users. Why is it they use supplies non stop? Well...

As I mentioned before, TO is not only about tanks, but also about managing your supplies. The game is giving every player free supplies and constantly pushing players to use them. When I was avarage Tanker is realised that using supplies is almost always a waste. Wise tanker should never use his supplies until it is absolutely necessary otherwise he will find himself in situation when he need supplies, but he got none.

Impulsive "drugging" is like impulsive shopping. One should avoid it or he will run short on resources pretty quickly. This is kinda obvious point in russian culture, this is why this game works this way. Always keep in mind that you can run out of your resources when you need them most, before pushing the button.

Well. There you go, RustyNail officially failed in Tanki Online

Lol,nice.I got a bit convinced there.

this isn't a problem at all if ya all play pro battles(drugs off)

and if you don't have 5k to buy the pass just wait for a discount just like the last pro discount.

you can find that 5k by playing 3 or less pro battles.

+1 smart cooldowns helped but just a bit its still pretty easy in some situations to just put double armor go for flag and if needed using repair kit that will heal you completly

Also, I have planned following:

  • Remove item locking when upgrading

Wow, if this actually is going to happen during one of the next updates, awesome! ^_^ :) it will also encourage me to mu my equipment in the garage.

Since I joined the game many years ago. It takes TIME to make changes to the game.

This discussion is just another one in long long long list of discussions back on RU forum. Hate to say but none of speakers around here haven't told anything new.

Hanvn you heard this quote

" You complain those whom you love "

All these players are loving tanki

Isn't it easier to "save" drugs now because of Smart Cooldowns? Because it's very hard to use all 3 supplies at the same time it's easier to save them and harder to waste then when you could just press 234 and have all drugs activated while you didn't even need half of them?

May I remind you what I said many times. The point is NOT removing drugs .... the point is BALANCING them! Reduce the exaggerated overpower and introduce some criteria on use (like many ideas I saw here in this post - considering number of players or other criteria)

I also remind you and Mafioza that PRO battle does NOT necessarily mean NO DRUG battle. Actually, apart format battles and non human ones (like 999 flags or minutes), non drug battles are a very variable percentage of PRO battles ... from 1% to maybe 50% (Mafioza saw the last, I am more on a 5-10% figure).

Another little note.

As you see I am marshal. I bought PRO pass and these days I am looking at pro battles. Right now 99% of PRO battles (apart drug yes or not) are from generalissimo. It is still very difficult for me to find adequate battles!

Let's remember that generalissimo is over 1.400k XP and I am at 1.050k XP, in other words I am at abt.2/3 of the game and they are far and far higher. I find myself always in a difficult position! If we add the drug problem (as I said many PRO are NOT drug-free), it is very difficult to play and I often do not "decide or influence" the battle as I would like to. Of course you can say I am noob! :)

I think there is some work to do both on drug rebalance and on PRO battles management. I read some ideas here, maybe nice maybe useless, but something has to be done!

Again ... as everyday happen ... another sad battle!

After 10 minutes of good fight (4-2) someone on the opposite team enter and insanely drug (3 players). From 4-2 to 4-9 in 7 minutes. After other 3 minutes the teams were ZERO player vs 7 players.

Even in a little period of 3 players vs 7 players, the druggers were with full triplet all the time ... against 3 players!!!

Do you think this is fair?

Do you think this has anything to do with skills or strategy?

Do you think this is just a rare situation?

Do you think this is good for the game?

Do you think this is satisfying for both teams?

This is the everyday situation ... it happens every day!

Have a think about it!

The issue of power selling is deep-rooted in the structure of this game beyond any practical possibility of substantial reform, especially with the current flash-based engine and its limited functionalities.

The economy of the game was built to primarily depend on selling drastic power (supplies) and this is what buyers expect to get when they invest real money in the game. This is sad, frustrating, unfair, highly unprofessional...yes all true, but this is the way it is bound to be with this version of the game.

Changing the monetization model would require looking for other features to sell, and considering the limits of the current flash engine this would not be very promising or possible. But even if it was possible, changing the monetization model comes with a high risk of losing a significant percentage of the buyer base who will not be happy with the change. Building another solid buyer base would take some time, during which the game may suffer devastating financial losses. I don't think TO are that adventurous to make such step.

However, there's still a chance to start over with a different monetization model that primarily depends on selling premium accounts rather than pure power. This can be implemented in the upcoming Unity-based TO. I did suggest this in another topic of mine (prepare to read lengthy post and comments!)

So, to wrap it up for you, stop wasting your time on something that is not likely to be changed in any significant manner. There's no point in continuing this argument - believe me, I and many other players have tried hard before and wasted a lot of time arguing and suggesting solutions, but eventually came to the conclusion that changing this model in the current flash version is almost impossible.

Let's see...

Since I joined the project as a developer:

  • Tanks become faster and fun to use. The game was booooooooring on first levels after 'rebalance'.
  • Turrets balance become much more reasonable. No longer the only usable tank is mammoth+twins.
  • There is wider choice of maps on the servers. It was only Silence, Polygon, Sandbox for a far too long.
  • Rank for maps was narrowed so players can't face far too powerful ranks in combat.
  • Smart cooldowns was introduced to make game more enjoyable.
  • New guns!

Also, I have planned following:

  • Change pricing to PRO-pass.
  • Next balance patch next week.
  • Remove item locking when upgrading.

You know... as long as I can do all of this awesome things for the game I can't care less about my public image.

I have no idea how the game was two years ago. I have a feeling that I am lucky that I don't.

I want to be honest with you. In the six months or so that I played this game, it improved considerably. I appreciate that for you and for everyone who worked on it. I see that the devs have enthusiasm to improve the game constantly, and I see that they are spread thin because of Unity, hacks, etc. I realize that it is not easy to please most people, not to mention all, at the same time.

I appreciate all that. I am also disappointed that the early end system did not work out to the degree that it was practically abandoned even for the trivial cases with simple solutions, i.e. a whole team leaves. I realize that it is a tough nut to crack, and I was not able to envision a complete solution for it with all the different unpredictable variables in the game.

That is for you. However, your style is usually rough. I am sorry, but it reminds me of the stereotypical Russian roughness. I work with two Russian people at work, and they are actually nice, but one of them is hard to persuade. Naturally, I realize that all cultures have all kinds of people although the certain cultural, economic, political, etc. environments encourage a certain attitude or another.

This is a tough job. Good luck with it.

Maybe you are very skilled, but normally drug wins. I made also example of overpower of drugs that make fatal even 1 shot of some weapons!

You talk about buying .... and I say: is this game a matter of money? I mean, do the richest win? If so, it is very unfair!

Drugs don't win, drugs dominate, and that's the main problem with the game.

The higher you get in rank, the more obvious this becomes, not to mention

that players who actually pay considerable money ALWAYS have the upper

hand equipmentwise... so, not only do they always have better gear than you,

but they are also boosting that better gear, so it's double the pain and square

the frustration...

Easiest example: You buy the Shaft, upgrade it as far as you can on your rank,

boost the damage all the time and have fun at other people's expense. Drugged

Shaft one-shots 95% of it's targets, the only way to survive the hit is to have

an upgraded heavy armor and double armor boost, and without money to buy

them, have fun grinding for weeks or months to get them, because by the

time you have them, the drugger would have long reached the upgrades to

one-shot your next configuration in advance...

The only way to provide a safe haven for those completely demoralized

by druggers, myself included, would be to allow us to create our terms

of engagement without having to buy Pro Passes, because other than

having to wait for these 90% discounts, buying them is pointless on any

rank other than the highest, because it requires way too much time and

effort just to make the crystals back...

Oh wait, there is another easier solution:

Since people want to pay in order to win that much, give them the opportunity

to pay for General rank with a golden emblem, maybe something more shiny

than the regular one. That way they can stick with their ultimate configurations,

play against other players with ultimate configurations, and leave us, the

little insignificant free-to-play peasants, in peace to have fun on our own.
