Well that is a con for now, anybody who creates a new account has to first open the 2 slots with tankoins which they could have saved to buy the BP straight from the first to get a head start.

Yep, that was AWFUL.

Dear @PirateSpider and @wolverine848, I am somewhat sad so say that I have formed a very similar outlook on the game, too.  The level of discipline it takes to avoid ending up as cannon fodder is rather frustrating.  As I understand it, I am already behaving in the way @Iron_Man and @DestrotankAI9 have sketched out (and have done so for quite a while). I just thought  I am missing something here, and I'm just not gamewise enough to figure out what I am doing wrong. I thought I was just growing tired.  But I am inclined to believe that the subjective feeling of "this is a tough regime it takes just to survive in a game that used to be lots of fun" is firmly rooted in the management's decisions to ... hmmm ... penalize "parasitical" F2P players. Having stayed with the game for  a long time already, I will most likely not give up, but still drag along for a while. Mostly using the above strategies of careful play and avoidance of premature ranking. But it's becoming harder to conceive of the game as a game rather than an exercise in anger management and resilience training.

To maximize your effort maybe try this approach:

  • With one or more accounts, only do some Daily Missions and with fewer battles as possible. But no multing, that's not fair for your team mates.
  • Only do few Challenge Tiers. With the last Challenge the first 5 Tiers give you 1 Weekly Cont, 5k Crystals and 1 regular Cont; that's a must; of course you can try to do 10 or more Tiers.
  • Play during Infra Days, meaning regular Weekdays. That means no Ultra Weekends or other Special Days where you get 2X EXP. It also means no Ultra Containers from Special Missions, but you don't care about Ultra Supplies, and you don't want to rank up fast like a newbie, right?
  • If you are starting with a new account, first get some supplies from free Containers.
  • Don't buy a lot of Hulls, Turrets or Protections. Doing this will make you poor. Only buy 1 extra hull or turret if you don't like the defaul Viking and Smoky at the beggining.
  • Don't Micro Upgrade Hulls, Turrets or Protections.
  • Have enough Crystals to buy Brutus. And do Micro Upgrade Brutus. You can MU the first steps at regular price, but higher steps is better during Discounts. Speed Ups are not good if you want to save and spend less.
  • Get 1 or 2 more Drones as you rank up and slowly MU them.
  • Have enough for 1 or 2 Mk2 kits. Think carefully about what kits to get. Be patient with the kits rotation. No MUs.
  • Save for 1 or 2 Mk3 kits. Later repeat the proccess for Mk4s, Mk5s, Mk6s. Only Micro Upgrade Mk7s.
  • Save Tankoins for Protection slots.
  • For when you get Mk7 kits your Drones should be well MUed, but maybe not fully MUed if you want to save for MK7 equipment MUs.
  • Don't get too many accounts or don't get too attached to the ones you have.

Good news @LeGurp. A big reduction in the price of Brutus Drone is coming tomorrow, down to only 100,000 crystals from 500,000 to upgrade it to 20/20 level. So from tomorrow, if you haven't already buy and start upgrading Brutus drone (without buying speed-ups). There will almost certainly be a 50% sale at the end of November (on Black Friday), so if you haven't got it to 20/20 level by then, finish buying the final microupgrades, with speed-ups on that sale to get it to 20/20.

With 20/20 Brutus you will find matches a lot easier, and keep using that drone to save on supplies (as it doesn't use any extra - or batteries), and you will be able to then spend on module, kits, turrets, hulls, augments or whatever else you need.

Won't solve all your problems, but it will be a good start. At last they do something to help new/free players.

Dear @DestrotankAI9, thanks for pointing out that patch to me - I thought I had noticed something with the MUP prices in the garage, but I wasn't  quite sure . I will  most certainly follow your advice! It also seems that the duration of individual upgrades has  decreased. And unless the developers' next move is going to be to introduce battery consumption for Brutus, too, now that all the F2Ps have upgraded it, I think the patch looks like the nicest thing.

Congrats man :) No problem, maybe they saw your post here? Lol, who knows.

Well yes, I have to say I am pleasantly surprised by the change to Brutus. This undoes a lot of the damage caused by the update which linked supply power to drone upgrade level, as now it will be faster and easier for a new player to get a 20/20 drone. Yes, not only is the price decreased, but it seems the drone now upgrades very fast - you should have it at 20/20 very soon, so that will help a lot in battle.

Good luck lol.

The latest patch has changed everything, I would assume. I find it hard to believe that the earnings your get from playing F2P will make up at all for the gain in XP.

Will be a LOT more Legends in battles with a GS of 5500...

Well, the game is "free" to play, so you can *play* the game.. but if you wanna enjoy it you gotta empty your wallet. Like, the comments im reading so far are all "make multiple accounts" "dont play for a few days to collect rewards" "farm on multiple accounts" "dont buy this, dont buy that" like, brother, do you think we all have 50 hours in a day? ?

And... no more "farming" since they removed the shards.

Plus - if you "don't play for a few days" you risk not completing the Silver Tier of Challenge - especially if you get the stupid top-3-on-winning-Team-X-times missions.

I know Tanki since the pre-shaft era ... I remember the nick of Hichigo, from like 10-11 years ago.

I thought he left the game or his account was hacked or some story of that kind ...

If this is the Hichigo proper, the original player - my congrats to him ...  thought all veterans had extinguished already ...

I hope you don't mind my question, but are there any hulls that makes the game significantly harder for a F2P player?

I was wondering if heavy hulls might make it so, because their extra health might be made redundant by more powerful players, while the faster hulls still have their agility.

All Hulls have their purpose, but personally speaking, if you want to use a Hull that gives you challenge, use Hopper or Wasp.

Extremely light, easily flipped.

I don't think certain Hulls would negatively affect a F2P player that much.

I would, however, avoid light hulls since they are too fragile, and stand no chance against more powerful players.

I'd play Viking/Paladin/Dictator and for Heavy Hulls (only good on small maps and/or siege) Titan/Mammoth.

Hey there, kindly refrain from pinging numerous people at once as it counts under breaking of rules. Just post your expression, anyone willing will surely reply you back ^^

As for your question, I think no hull in general if I be honest, every hull has some sort of unique roles. In Siege, I would always take titan rather than a light hull. In battles like CTF, I need both agility and some basic armor, so medium hull is the right choice for me. For battles like ASL or rugby,  I can take light hulls with Trickster equipped for extra speed and be superfast in claiming the objective (Capturing flag, scoring ball). But the main point is using the hull at the right time.

If you want to make the game harder for yourself, try unique situations. Capturing a flag in a long map using Heavy hulls etc.

Paladin is the OP flavour-of-the-month.  Unless you are using that specific hull, you will be at a disadvantage.

Regarding all the other hulls... some are more niche than others.  Like Mammoth... best for small maps or modes where enemies will congregate - ie Siege.  If you need to travel a lot a hull like Mammoth may not do so well because it is just so darn slow.

Sorry about that, I didn't know, it won't happen again.

Thanks for the reply. And Mammoth can move pretty fast with both overdrive and speed boost on, so in CTF it might work :)

On a small map.

Good luck on Kunger or Alexandrovich or some of the even bigger maps.

Good chance you'll die arriving at the enemy base unless you use OD before you have the flag.  But then you've got nothing left for the return trip.

Isn't Paladin a... light  medium hull?    ?

Never mind - ?‍♂️

Tanki wiki says medium. It has health like a medium.

Ah... I am wrong.  R-O-N-G wrong.  so... it's the fastest medium hull that no one can kill.  There ya go.

Fastest? They're all 9m/sec.

Maybe it seems faster because it hover and can move in any direction?
