What to buy? Which is better?

So I would like to buy a drone, since I have ~2000 batteries saved up and am willing to buy more. I have a few criteria:

  • I would like a general-purpose drone that does well in standard gameplay, and not a drone that is mainly suitable for special events and the like. I would like to run it for as long as I can afford, and not use it intermittently.
  • I do not have enough crystals for MUs, so the drone should perform well without many of them.
  • The drone should preferably not consume supplies, or else have a relatively low cost of operation. I can't afford to run Defender or Booster.
  • I tend to be very conservative with OD usage and so faster OD charge is not very important for me. Thus Driver is off the table.
  • I play Smoky Viking at medium ranges. Camper is off the table.

I have been leaning towards towards support / utility drones, and am considering Supplier, Engineer, and Assault. I would appreciate recommendations.

Wow.  Lots of conditions...

Miner does not require many MUs... but... it has limited effect on many battles.

Was gonna suggest trooper - but it uses up DA and 7-10 MUs are recommended to make it really useful.  But it is awesome on my Titan - often get top 4 when it's equipped.

I'd suggest Assault.

Edit: I think Engineer would suit you best if you choose not to activate many supplies.

Supplier would work only if you use your own supplies...

my experience in drones is very few, so players will benefit you more..

but don't think you will find a good drone without consuming a lot of supplies... other than that will be just like a drone to finish your 2000 batteries and just for getting rid of remorse that you have to exploit it

The best starter drone is Driver, but as you said, it is off the table.

The other options for you are Supplier, Engineer and Trickster. I would very much recommend using Driver over Assault if it ever came to that.

Looking specifically at your second and fourth criteria, Engineer and Trickster are great.

Supplier - This drone encourages you to always be near allies, otherwise, it would be a waste of batteries. I presume you are not usually within 15 metres of an ally in your preferred mid-range position. For the average player, I would suggest buying and/or using this drone only if you're a dedicated healing Isida. Otherwise, you would not get consistent value for the batteries you are spending. I don't recommend this drone to players who primarily use Viking.

Engineer - Provides great value at minimum upgrades. Not only does not increase the active time of the supply you pick up, it also spreads the effect to every materialised ally on the map. Note that allies who gain the shared supply will have it last for the standard 30 seconds, while yours will last for 50. The drone is dependant on drop boxes on the map, but they are not scarce by any means, and you should be able to pick some up on your way to the middle of the map when you respawn. The score gained from activating this drone is negligible, so there is no worry of whether or not you were using the drone to its maximum potential (if you are concerned about that, that is).

Trickster - On the more expensive side, but worth the cost. Manually activating speed boost or picking up a speed boost drop box will activate the drone and remove all present smart cooldowns at the time of activation. This allows for easier longetivity on the battlefield. Fortunately for you, one of its defining features compared to the other drones is that it is the only drone that does not require any upgrades. The effect at 0/20 and at 20/20 is the same. The only change is the range at which you can share the effect with allies. It is primarily a support drone that can be used solo if you so choose.

Other positive aspects of Trickster? It has a larger effect-sharing radius than Mechanic and Supplier. What more is that it also gives the most points per player that you share the effect with, i.e eaiser to share and in the process is more rewarding to share. It is also supposed to speed up the cooldown of the speed boost supply when manually activating others, but it is currently bugged and that has not been happening for a year now. Even without that feature, it is a great drone to have.

The main caveats with Trickster are that:

  • It requires a conservative use of the speed boost supply.

The smart cooldown of speed boost is not removed when activating the drone. To get proper value out of it, you activate DA, DD and/or your repair kit before actiavting your speed boost. In small maps, this is not unfavourable, but in large maps where you are required to get into a specific position as quickly as possible, it may prove taxing to use effectively.

  • It is indirectly expensive to use in that it increases your repair kit consumption.

The main factor in your increased survivability is the ability to use two repair kits in quick succession. That is activating your repair kit, activating your speed boost, then activating your repair kit again if needed. The choice of activating the repair kit a second time is up to the user. They are not required to do so. If you have a very comfortable number of repair kits to use, say, 2,000+, then this should not be a problem (assuming of course you don't find the idea of using two repair kits in quick succession repulsive to game balance and interactions)

Trickster sounds like it will benefit you the most with your listed criteria.

I don't know if this really belongs here but, what is the most efficient way of spending money or tankoins in the game? Like what will get me the best price/value. I don't care about skins.

I am trying it out right now. I loved the gameplay on mobile. But more testing is needed.

Rapid-Fire Mode performs decent. Range of arcade shots is decreased drastically after last updates of Shaft, so you will need to approach your enemies on close distances - if you are an aggressive player who likes meelee-/close-ranged fights this augment may be a good choice.
However, damage is rather underwhelming: dealing averagely 700 damage per shot is just enough to kill a light-hull with one series of 3 shots. Killing medium and heavy tanks is difficult with this augment. Most players with RFM use an upgraded Booster-drone to be more effective in combat - I also use this combination because without Booster, Rapid-Fire Mode ain't really that great. If you want to buy Booster Rapid-Fire Mode, I also advice you to invest in Booster

I posted this question in the topic about Augments,  but since this one seems to be more active, I'll quote myself:

Quote

I was thinking about buying heavy plasmagun for Twins since it provides an hefty damage bonus and an insane DPS... however, the insanely slow projectiles really turn me off.(they fly 35% slower if I am not mistaken)

Do you have some experience on this augment? I have tested it but it seems quite situational, if you enemies don't stay still and move around it becomes a nightmare to hit anything, no amount of lead helps.

So I started considering Adrenaline, do you guys think it is a good pairing with this turret? Other then the damage buff mechanic, the projectiles also travel a bit faster (stable plasma has 15% speed penality, which seems low, but it's noticeable especially when chasing down light hulls)

Do tell me if you like it.

I usually play with Stable Plasma, the lack of splash damage means that you can be overly aggressive when you play Twins.

Paired with Heavyweight Construction I usually ram tanks on the side or on the front, making them miss shots or just flip over.

Overall, it's a very good augment , especially considering it's a cheap one. (remember that in the past, Twins got the splash damage to balance it out and remove this aggressive playstyle)

PA I agree with you, on bigger maps it's really useful, but sometimes you'll miss the DPS you would otherwise have.

One of the reasons why I am asking about adrenaline, other then the damage buff, it's for the projectile speed.

The rounds are already on the slow side, and stable plasma makes them 15% slower.

Should i buy shaft mk7 with rapid fire for MM?

Believe me Mk7 Shaft is pretty good without any Augemts. IF you are using RFM Augment you ought to have Booster or spend DD like water. So it is up to you! IF you are rolling in DD and have Booster, then using it is pretty good provided you don't snipe. Hope this helps!

So i just finished the silver tier in the challenges, However i have enough tankiones to buy the battle pass. But 1nce i get it I will not be able to buy another battle pass for another 4 challenges. I invested alot in the viking hull, so i was gunu wait until they had a augament for viking in the challenges to buy it but then u dont know when, if at all they will have it. So what do u think. Should i buy the battle pass, get the xt cont+ animated paint and be content. or wait for a viking aug?

Topic merged.

I'd wait if I were you, since you don't need anything else from the current battlepass.

Wait for a Challenge which includes items you would actually like. It's a waste to buy a BP for a Challenges with augments you are not using

Wait for a challenge where you get your most wanted and dreamed of Augments. Meanwhile you can obviously collect and save tankoins.

I am at lieutenant colonel. Should I invest into the heavy plasma gun alteration for twins ( more damage, less projectile speed and firing speed) or  should I get sledge hammer rounds for thunder (faster reload, greater damage fall off at distances). Im looking for one that will carry me into the long run.

I would buy the Twins augment, many players use Thunder protection nowadays but on the other hand I barely players use Twins protection.
