good point, 1 million rubles is like 10 000€

Hazel also said they're making an "[expletive] ton of money," so I highly doubt he's talking about tens of thousands. He most probably was talking in terms of euros.

not saying you're wrong but it's hard to Imagine tanki even making 1 million dollars at this point of time rather 1 million in euros...he must've meant it in russian currency ?

How is it hard to imagine? Did you see the list of players with hundreds and hundreds of stars in the challenge? It hasn't even been running for 24 hours ...

all those players are probably from different countries and may or may not use euros depending on which country they are from, so tanki would charge them differently

He specified dollars. It's reasonable to assume he meant USD.

If it really was millions of dollars, then the only reason I could think of is that they've been putting into a safe until they can do a series of big things for the game. ?

Only way to tell for sure is to wait for tomorrow.

I AM MAD ????????

All I said here was some neutral side comment buddy. I set realistic standarts and got what I expected so I liked it. Yay!

And here you are writing an essay about something I already forgot about and others trying to come to my DMs to insult me. I'm so sad now!

How did I even got here again?

EDIT: forgot the multi quotes so I'll just ping.

@LambSauce I can guarantee you that 95% of these stars were not bought and instead grinded in ASL. I had Premium and got 300 stars in 3 HOURS by just playing ASL and we can see the same tryhards that are in the top of Challenge Accepted in ASL all the time.

@Sword-of-Damocles A million is actually realistic. Let's say tanki has 15k unique players. To get to a million $ a year each player would be spending only 67$.

Yes ofc not everyone is spending 67$ but how many of them are spending 100's of ultra containers worth every month? Also keeping the servers running costs them at least 5-10k a month. Likely way more (not to mention the dev team salary and creating events, skins, decorations etc.)

So augments get nerfed when added to normal containers. Is this because they have served their purpose as cash making aspects of the game. This is the retort you

They're ALOT, they're very prevalent. We seen tons of them using Crisis relentlessly without caring about supplies consumption

Evidently only mine get modded.

You can insult someone's intelligence and call someone a child, yet I can't say tanki stole an idea from another game.

Special kind of logic right there.

I mean you are accusing them.

Also if we are going to mention that tanki took some ideas from different games, we need to acknowledge that other games take ideas from each other all the time.

As for our posts, I'm fairly certain that by morning it'd be modded. I have already accepted this fate and when it happens I'll just be moving on, unless I get replied to.

I mean... it's what they did. What else would you call it?

Did they contact the originators and ask for permission to use it? No. (Probably not).

Stealing.

There isn't really a grey area except when you use a special kind of logic that only exists in tanki.

Does it matter to me if they contacted them? No. Still stealing.

Do I feel any different that they stole it? No. Still stealing.

Does anyone else care that they stole it? No. Still stealing.

Do the originators care that tanki is using it? Probably not. Still stealing.

If I take your car without asking... what do you call it?

If I take your song and sing it word for word and make money off it... what do you call it?

If I take anything that anyone else has the rights to and make it my own... what do you call it?

Of course they do. I don't need to acknowledge every innovation stolen from every game in the history of the universe.

It's still stealing--no matter who does it.

Do I care? No.

Do you? No.

Not sure why we have to delete messages to cover it up because literally everyone knows what is going on here, lol!!

I mean, tanki is all about stealing.

You steal kills, steal flags, steal the ball, steal victory...

What is the problem?

Weird how your insults were still there.

And mine wasn't though...

I'd call it "taking". Sounds less accusing than " stealing".

If you were to say "tanki is taking ideas from other games" then it'd sound like a simple claim.

Not all words carry the same weight or tone when being used.

Except stealing is a much more accurate word in this case.

As I mentioned in a different thread, taking, referencing, inspired from, or whatever words you can think of is one thing.

Literally copying and pasting the design, don't even bother to change the color, model, VFX, and mechanics is a whole different level.

Even games who put guns in their games without licenses will make subtle changes to the model or at least change the name of the weapon in game. Tanki on the other hand is so arrogant (or maybe incompetent?) that they don't even bother to cover it up. In fact, they clearly think talking about this in public is a bright idea.

Don't think that should mean that we should turn a blind eye to them when they do it and only criticize tanki for it.

And I don't know about you, but making changes to a weapon before releasing it seems suspicious to me. I mean sure, the devs may envision it to be different in their game. But we can't dismiss the possibility that they might be trying to claim the idea for themselves.

Hazel at least seems to mention the games where he's been taking the ideas from. He's already mentioned valorant a few times throughout the livestream.

Still stealing.

About 15-20 minutes of surfing the internet will show you what governs the protection of intellectual property when it comes to video games. I'll link one decent starting point: Intellectual property protection of video games.

To put it rather crudely, ideas cannot be copyrighted, whereas their manifestation (or implementation), can. The concept of grenades cannot be copyrighted. The concept of smokescreen grenades cannot be copyrighted either. However, direct or heavy cloning is a breach of intellectual property rights of the original creator.

You've raised very valid concerns, but I assure you that "stealing" ideas from other games isn't a problem - the implementation can be a problem. At a very fundamental level, what's the difference between Fortnite, Valorant, PUBG, or Counter Strike? Not much. They differ only because they implemented the same set of fundamental concepts differently.

What you saw in the V-LOG was just the testing phase. The concept will definitely be modified enough to add an element of originality.

I'd just like to mention here that the copies of Tanki Online are, in fact, direct clones of some version of Tanki. Monetization further worsens their legality. Needless to say, cyber-safety is a major concern given that those games are not even legal in the first place, whereas Tanki Online (Alternativa Games) is bound by information security laws and policies.

Semantics.

And 'claim' suggests an ambiguity of opinion without proof.

Would you believe that floating tanks are not new? There was a fps tank game (a long time ago) called tanarus. They had floating tanks as well.

So even the idea of floating tanks isn't new either. Doesn't matter either way.

I'm not even criticizing tanki for it.

If it makes the game more balanced, fair, and fun, then I am in favor of them stealing every idea they can.

Literally steal it all.

L.A. riots level of stealing.

They aren't actually even concerns.

As I've said before, if it makes the game more fair, fun and balanced, steal everything you can from every other game out there.

Guys, look.

I'm not concerned about the idea stealing. I've had to defend my choice of wording for literally WAY too long.

I'm more concerned about censorship and (to a lesser degree) the devs running out of ideas.

Y'all have to change your thinking if you believe me using the word 'steal' is the actual issue here.

I mean you made it sound like it was such a horrible action despite every other game also doing it.

Also, technically, its not stealing. Stealing would be like if you took someone else's idea and end up being more known for the idea despite it not being originally yours.

What hazel is describing here is that they're taking ideas from other games.

I didn't, actually. I called it what it was.

Stealing is taking something that isn't yours. There is nothing else in the definition of 'steal' regarding the stealer's reputation.

And I'm thoroughly finished discussing my choice of words (and everyone else's interpretations thereof) any further.

I'm sure everyone will agree that we are done with this.
