Review [Issue 5] Dream Team No. I
Ranger7 replied to Ranger7 in [Issue 5] Dream Team No. I Newspaper Archive
~Sandbox Dream Team~ Each map is unique, its own wonder. Each one has its own special features, props, and colors. Every day, battles go on in these maps. Each team fights bitterly for the crystals that are funding the battle. But the fund will not be given out equally to each team. No, it will only be given to the winning team. I only begin to touch the surface on what kind of a team will win when I write this article. ~CTF - Defense~ First, when thinking of defense, everyone suggests freezes. Freeze has very good defensive capabilities, and always, when defending in sandbox, have a good freeze on a reliable tank (Hornet, or Viking, never Dictator). It is essential, if you are the freeze, to make sure you aren’t facing two opponents from totally different angles. Always go one-on-one (if you have a choice) with freeze. Always keep in mind: The best defense is attack. This is especially true with freeze. If you can attack, attack. If you have no chance (the person you are facing has a faster tank than you, or has a long-ranged gun) its best to stay where you are, but otherwise, it would probably be best to strike before they strike you. So, one most essential, and defensive member of the Dream-Team is… Freeze. ~CTF - Mid Field~ As the Mid Fielder, your main job is to cover the attacking and defending players. But the question is, what gun is best at covering them in this map? It isn’t shaft. Shaft players have to be protected, and people can’t just run around them and start shooting. In this map, it is very easy to do so. The answer? Thunder. This one-tank-army type of weapon is perfect for covering, and being mid-fielder, because many enemy tanks will come up, and with unlimited firing capabilities, Thunder is the best choice for holding off numerous assaults. The Thunder is best equipped with very healthy tanks, to be the most effective (Viking and Mammoth). The enemy when trying to break either your defense or attack, will soon find a huge boulder standing in their way! ~CTF - Attack~ In the game mode “CTF” the attacker is the most important part of the team. As a rule, when attacking, the flag must be captured. There must always be at least two tanks participating in the attack. Now that we have our mid-fielder, (Thunder) we can now choose which guns to participate in the attack. We could have another Freeze, because it is good at taking out tanks by sheer force, but its range is badly lacking to attack. Freeze desperately needs speed. Thunder is horrible at close ranges, and this map is a rather small one, so Thunder should not be the attacker. Shaft is not recommended for this map, so there is only one other choice; Ricochet. Unlike Freeze, this gun has a very respectable range, and unlike Thunder, it can easily defeat a tank up-close. A very effective attack strategy on this map is to have two Ricochet attacking consistently on a weakening enemy defense. Sandbox CTF Dream Team: 1 Freeze (Viking), 1Thunder (Mamooth), and 2 Ricochet (both Vikings). ~TDM - Defense~ TDM is a totally different game mode than CTF. In TDM (Team Death Match) the idea is to have a reliable defense, to prevent spawn-killing. Since freeze cannot self-destruct (which makes sure that the enemy gets the least amount of kills possible) we need a different gun this time. Ricochet cannot take more than one tank at a time effectively, so Thunder will be our defense, with the most healthy tank in-game, Mammoth. ~TDM - Mid-Field~ This position is the most important position for this map. Here’s why: Since this map has a dominating area - a middle “field” - the winning team (the team with the most kills) will occupy this area because from that vantage point, you can shoot down into the area where the enemy tanks will spawn. With this in mind, which gun is best for this? Again, it isn’t shaft for two reasons: 1: It cannot self-destruct. 2: The said “middle point” is easily circled around, to the extreme dis-advantage of shafts. That leaves only Thunder and Ricochet left. Which of these is best for this position? Thunders are very good because they can shoot down into clumps of opponents and stop main drives for the center-point in Sandbox, but Rico is excellent at stopping lone tanks and reaching the un-reachable with their guns. The answer is both. The lone Rico will make sure the position is guarded and will support the two Thunders, which will be stopping main attacks with the most all-round tank in-game, Viking. ~TDM - Attack~ The key to TDM is to force the enemy to attack or die, and then when they attack, it means certain death. There are no flags to capture, so there is no attacker. Sandbox TDM Dream Team: Three Thunders (one “Mammoth” two Viking), one Rico (with Viking). -

Guide [Issue 6] Dream Team No. II
Ranger7 replied to Ranger7 in [Issue 6] Dream Team No. II Newspaper Archive
Okay here goes, suggestions please Dream Team No. II ~Short-Bridge~ This article will be the second article on the Team of your Dreams! This months map will be “Short-Bridge.” Short-Bridge is one of those maps that are the same on both sides, so for both sides, the best team (Dream Team) will be the same, so no matter which side you choose to play on, you will know what to equip… ~CTF - Defense~ Defense on this map is needed, especially with CTF. The flag is in the middle of a walled area with multiple entries, that can’t be covered by a shaft, but freeze is excellent when defending a small, walled area. This is the case also with this map, and so we have our first building block to the Short-Bridge CTF Dream Team: Freeze. ~CTF - Mid-field~ This is actually one of the most crucial components to the Dream team in Short Bridge. This is because like sandbox, in the center of the map, there is a very high vantage point from which to shoot down into the enemy base. From this point you can shoot into virtually every enemy-controlled position. Now, which gun is best at this? Thunder is very good for sniping, but Thunder relies on long-ranges so that it wont hit itself, but Short-Bridge is a rather small map, and sometimes, the mid-feilder has to defend his position, and you cant without going up-close in Short-Bridge. So, would it be Shaft? No, because Shaft is built to cover one area, and so Shaft is not our gun for Mid-Field. It is Rico. Rico has a high damage rate, and is not affected by small areas. It is a good weapon, and perfect for this job. The tank choice is very important to, and Mammoth allows Rico to survive the most enemies. Though it is slow, it does not matter as much as it normally does in bigger maps. And so, our second Short-Bridge CTF Dream Team member is: Ricochet with a Mammoth. ~CTF - Attack~ One of the most crucial positions in CTF, the attacker definitely has a pivotal role in CTF. And the key to a successful attack is a supporter, one who can take the flag if the first attacker falls to enemy fire. Attacks also rely on speed, but much less so when there are small maps, as you can quickly get back to friendly territory. Viking is one of the most reliable choices when attacking a enemy position, and Freeze and Rico are the best attack weapons. But, which one is best? Freeze has a limited range, but with a speedy tank or small map this doesn’t matter. Freeze is good to go in first because of its multiple targets ability, meaning that it can hit multiple targets at once. Rico is great at being a attacker however, and should not be left out. It is good at supporting the Freeze in this instance. It can pick off the survivors of the initial assault and generally support the Freeze attacker. So, we have the final two members of the Short-Bridge CTF Dream team, Rico and Freeze with Vikings. Short-Bridge CTF Dream Team: One Rico with Mammoth, two Freezes, and one Rico with Viking. ~TDM under developement~ -

Chapter 1: As time passes, you get to Third Lieutenant. You’ve just gotten promoted, and just started to look for a clan to help you. In that last battle, you had done well. The enemy rage quit. You had been first. While you were steadily capturing flags for your team one of your team-mates had gotten the flag and refused to cap, waiting for you to leave. You tried out-waiting him; but then a clan joined the enemy side. You and your team-mates were overrun. You attempted to save the fund by sneaking through the tunnel below the rest of Iran to get to their flag. After managing to knock out an enemy tank, you grabbed the flag and retreated to the safety of the tunnel. Then, it dropped. It looked like a soccer ball, but square. Curious, you went up to it, afraid to touch it. Then another tank rolled up. It was a Thunder - Viking named “qwerty”, that backed up out of your freeze's range, while shooting you with his thunder. Hoping to push the soccer box out of the way, you run into it to get to qwerty. Then, you realize it was a gold box… Somehow, it looked like a soccer box. But the most amazing thing was that 500 crystals had been added to your bank account! You stare at the screen and qwerty destroys you. You are very excited, and leave to your garage to look at what you could get. M1 Freeze! You are sure you’re the happiest Third Lieutenant in the world. Then your world changed. Qwerty had left, as well. It seems he wasn’t at all happy that you had gotten the soccer box. And, he went about was saying that you were blacklisted by “Vampire Clan.” You think he has to be kidding, after all, it was only a soccer box… but then you think about that 500 crystals added to your account… But, you don’t want to think about it. And besides, its time to go to bed. As time passes, you realize his threat has some ground. You were being forced out of several important battles that you could have won. But, their clan would notice you, join, and you would lose. You still earned a few crystals, but it wasn’t enough to get M2 Freeze, your dream. Silence. Alone, deserted by your fellow players and up against “Vampire Clan”. But suddenly, five players join at once. This is more than a coincidence, and you asked the highest ranking one, a Major, "Why did you join to help me, and four others as well?" He, named asdf, said, "I’m leading a clan to play and practice. Our name is 'Storm Clan.'" You decide to entrust your loyalty to this clan, partly because you need some protection, partly because you hoped they could get you soccer boxes. (You DID like some of their tanks too! xP) Qwerty, to say the least, wasn’t at all happy that Storm Clan had joined. But they already had the lead, 10-0 (mostly because you had been the whole team during the first 10 minutes). Storm clan at least stopped the enemy from capping fast, but Vampire Clan was very strong. It was mostly even, but every player they had was strong. You weren’t. You would have to wait a long time for that. You and Storm clan left the battle. As time passes, you get to know more and more of “Storm Clan." Then, when you were a Captain, Storm Clan declared war on Vampire Clan. An important battle was to be fought on an important intersection known as “Kungur." Readying your gun and tank, (Freeze M2 and Viking M2) you prepare to defend an important strategic point down in the village of Kungur. Storm Clan's objective was to capture the main part of the intersection, across Kungur bridge. Your team fights hard to get over to the bridge. An M3 Hornet with M3 Rico fights his way to the important spot. Suddenly, a red hole appears on his tank, and destroys it. Holes suddenly appear on many tanks on the main attack force. Its your time to defend against the enemies attack. One M3 Viking comes up with an M3 Rico. You manage to sneak behind him, and freeze him, so that his turret does not come in contact with your tank. A Hornet with Thunder suddenly comes in from behind you. He shoots you once, twice, three times, and on the fourth shot your dead. You were not able to defend against the enemy, and Kungur Village falls to the enemy. As time passes, Vampire Clan has several victories, and your clan is beaten back to its last fortress, the high ground in Silence City. Qwerty and his command have decided to move. To attack it. Asdf quickly orders a defense. While the war had been going on, you had earned a lot of crystals. Then, you make a big decision. Its time… to buy. You buy just enough for M3 Freeze. And you are ready to defend Silence City. Taking up a position right behind a road that leads directly to Storm's headquarters, you wait, with a wall behind you, road in front of you. The first foe comes up. You avoid his fire, and destroy him! You feel like celebrating your victory instantly, but another tank comes up, and the fight continues. A steady stream of enemy tanks keep up the attack on the road, but it is hopeless for them. Suddenly, gold letters appear on the screen saying: Congratulations! You have achieved a new rank: << Major >>! The attack on Silence City has utterly failed. Your M3 Freeze had turned the tide in a long war against Vampire Clan. Enemy remnants still remain, particularly in the following: Kungur Intersection, Silence City, The Canyon, The Stadium, The Lost Temple, and several other known territories. It is up to you to win these, and bring victory to your clan.
