This idea isn't about reload. It's about making the laser always stay on, even during reload.

Fair enough. Let's just wait and see how developers decided to go about converting our modules. There ARE ways to make the conversion fair to everyone, for example the option I proposed yesterday.
-
How about a real life example. Imagine the following situation: You and your neighbour both like to order delivery from a nearby restaurant. A month ago you decided to pay for a pretty expensive lifetime membership in that restaurant, which gives you 2x faster delivery time and other bonuses, while your neighbour continued using the less convenient free delivery option. But then, a couple months later the restaurant decides to make their service more available to their customers, so they give every customer free lifetime membership, which gives them all of the same bonuses. You won't get a refund for what you paid, but your neighbour got the same bonuses for free. It is indeed frustrating, seeing others get the same items/services when they paid much less than you, but it happens all the time and you just have to accept that. Giving a refund to everyone who bought the expensive membership won't be economically possible for the restaurant, but them not doing it has nothing to do with the company disrespecting their customers. In the end, you still got to enjoy the benefits of the membership for some time, while your neighbour didn't. In this case you could hope that Tanki gives you some additional bonus/advantage because you had more modules, but even if they don't do that, I don't see what the problem is, since you will still be able to use the same protections you had before. You can only use one 50% Railgun protection at a time, which you will still be able to do after the update. So again, why would you need a compensation if you don't lose anything?

Did you actually buy ALL those modules with money? And did you buy the modules and their upgrades for their full price with no discounts? And did you take into account special offers, such as Shop discounts, bundles and bonus cards? Devs know for a fact that players use their free-earned crystals to buy equipment and take advantage of sales, so the actual value of in-game equipment is much lower than what you'd get if you simply convert the base price into money. Not to mention that "value" is a questionable word here, since in-game items aren't physical objects and don't really have actual value, but that's another discussion. In the end it boils down to the basic idea of buying items in an online game. When you registered, you agreed that developers allow themselves to change and remove any items in the game, including those you bought with real money. Your account officially does not actually belong to you, so they can do whatever they want with items in it. Of course they will try to make sure that you get what you paid for and don't get disappointed, but when it comes to controlling the game's economy and making progress with new updates, it's understandable that they would prioritise on the game as a whole, rather than being fair to absolutely all players. Anyway, at this point I would refrain from blaming devs for not caring about the players and treating buyers unfairly, since we have no idea how the conversion will actually take place. Furthermore, in the end you should still end up with the same protective potential that you had before, just with a different interface.

They kinda did that in Tanki X already. You get 2 tank combo presets for free, and you can buy more for X-crystals (basically real money).
-
Seems strange to compare turret with hull. I obviously choose turret, since firepower > protection.
-
I think you misunderstood. My idea was to sell multiple slots, but still allowing only one of them to be equipped at a time. The only advantage of this system is that if you bought, say, 5 triple module slots and all 14 protections, you'd be able to then make 5 custom presets and quickly switch them out in battles, just like with the old module system. So you could, for example, have one preset be Shaft-Railgun-Magnum and another with Isida, Rico, Twins. That way depending on the map you can quickly go to the garage and select a different preset with one click, whereas players with just one slot would have to manually change their protections one by one, which would take longer and is less convenient. Players, who don't have many modules at the moment would only get one or two empty presets and would have to spend millions of crystals to buy the rest, but players (buyers, if you will) with dozens of modules would instantly get 10+ presets for free, making gameplay much more convenient for them. That would be a fair conversion, in my opinion.

It's definitely triple. Seems like a wiki error.

XT tank gets merged with normal tank and the upgrade level of the final tank is set to whatever the highest of the two upgrades was. if you combine a 5/20 M3 XT with a 13/20 M3, you get a 13/20 M3 with XT skin. If you had a 20/20 M3 XT and a 0/10 M0, you end up with 20/20 M3 with optional XT skin. If both items are M4, then you end up with just one M4 item with an optional XT skin.

Based on what the V-log shows, it seems that there will be only one set of three empty slots on your tank, and you will be able to equip any protections onto it, whether it's just one or any combination of two or three from the separate protections that you own. So while it's definitely an advantage to be able to make any combination of protections and easily switch out one protection for another (e.g. Thunder-Rail-Hammer to Thunder-Rail-Magnum), seems like owners of many modules may be disappointed, since in order to switch modules they will have to change three protections separately, rather than simply equipping a different module, which may have been faster.
-
That's why I think that it will be a system where you buy empty module slots and assign a combo of protections to them, rather than having just one module and switching protections all the time.
-
Shoo, we're having a civilised discussion
-
What I'm saying is, why be upset about removal of items without compensation if you don't actually lose anything in terms of the amount of module power you have? i.e. you'll still be able to use the same modules in battle, only they will be much more compact, rather than separated into 40 different slots in your garage.
-
But what if you'll be able to make any module combination after the update, including the 40 you had and many, many more? No reason to assume that it will never happen just because it didn't happen now. I will personally be pushing the idea to add two types of battles, i.e. you'd be able to play normal PRO and also free battles, which you create and join for free, but cannot earn experience/funds in. Alternatively, they could make it so that you can create and join PRO battles without the pass, but in order to earn EXP and crystals you'd have to buy the pass. That seems like the easiest solution. If those battles were free but didn't give any funds or EXP, there would be even less people playing them

Yep, you're pretty much spot on. The price depends on how the new system will work. If it's possible to buy multiple single modules from each turret, then I'm guessing 100-150 thousand crystals per M3 protection. But if you buy every protection module once and are then able to infinitely apply it to make as many modules as you like, then it could probably be up to 300k per module. Another option is to have multiple module slots. So, for example you buy every individual protection for 50k and can apply them to modules any number of times, but in order to put them into a module you have to buy an empty module slot. The first module slot would cost something like 5000 crystals, but for subsequent module slots the price would grow exponentially, so perhaps 20 000 for second, 70 000 for 3rd, 170 000 - 4th, 600 000 - 5th, 1 900 000 - 6th, and so on. This makes it so that you can buy your first couple modules and protections for them for a relatively low price, but to have more versatility and convenience you'd have to spend a lot more. To me this actually seems like a very sensible system, which provides devs with a lot of potential revenue, gives free players ability to easily compete and for buyers it's an opportunity to make their gameplay experience more convenient for a lot of money. Let's see what devs actually came up with.

In today's livestream Nives said that the modules will be converted into the new system, so while he didn't specifically say that there will not be refunds, he did say that players won't lose anything and the conversion will be done in a fair and balanced way. There will be more details in next week's V-log.
-
They didn't mention anything about that in today's V-log, but based on what was announced a few months ago, yes - this is the update that disables funds and EXP in private battles. People would just wait for discounts and buy them all at half price. It would be the rebalance all over again, I'm telling you.
-
The way I see it is that every module will be broken up into 3 single modules, and you will be able to have any number of single modules for each turret. So for example if you had three new triple modules (not LGC), one with 34% (thunder, rail, rico), one with 42% (rail, isida, striker) and one with 50% (twins, isida, magnum), You'd end up with 9 single modules from 7 different turrets, each of them keeping the same protection it had before. So you could, for example, combine them into a new module with 34% Rico, 50% Isida and 42% Rail protection. But this kind of system has a LOT of serious drawbacks, mainly interface complications, so I doubt that's what devs actually decided to do. Hey! Face off was a good movie! >_
-
Not for the economy though. Last time we got refunds devs had to follow it up with massive battle fund reductions, which made everyone suffer.
-
I don't think any refund is economically possible. It will make sense if you get all your modules separated into single modules, so you'll be able to reassemble them again, but won't be able to get more than what you had before.
-
Good point, but I have a feeling that there will be an advantage to having many more modules. For example, maybe the 5 modules will turn into 15 single modules and 26 will turn into 78 singles, so the player with 15 will only be able to make 5 custom modules, while your friend will be able to make 26. I think that's actually the most likely outcome of this update, i.e. you will be able to have multiple identical single protections and use them to make many triple modules. So in order to make all 2184 combinations you will have to buy 6552 single modules
-
They haven't said anything about kits yet. My guess is that the current modules will be replaces with single modules and price will stay the same. Don't forget that after the update single modules will become a LOT more valuable due to their versatility. If you think about it, those 14 single modules can be arranged into 2184 triple module combinations (if my maths is correct), so I wouldn't be surprised if the price for each of those single modules will actually be higher than the current price for triple modules.
-
I'm just speculating. To be honest, it does make sense to have some kind of small penalty, otherwise people will ruin the whole idea of MM balance by leaving halfway (e.g. right after completing missions) and unbalancing their team. But developers never said anything about a deserter penalty for TO, so I probably shouldn't say that it may be added.
