He just generally talks about nerfing supplies and gave power reduction as an example. And devs already explained that power reduction won't happen, otherwise we'll will end up with something as lame as the modules in Tanki X.
-
You say that literally one month after developers did exactly that - nerfed the supplies and repair kit to make buyers less powerful against other players.
-
I actually just found the post I had in mind on the Russian forum: http://ru.tankiforum.com/topic/46385/?page=17#comment-152406 You can translate it automatically (google translate or something), but to summarize, Hazel says how old times were pretty good, but the game lost a massive amount of potential players (and potential buyers), who quit after being demolished over and over by established players.
-
So in other words, "developers should ignore players' requests even if over 50% are asking for something that can actually be done" ?
-
Hazel said it in the stream. They have the data. A small part of the players figured out how to abuse the system to gain an advantage, so while they were getting easy crystals and demolishing loads of "noobs", those "noobs" got annoyed because they couldn't really play or do anything, so they quit the game. Those "noobs" are also a large part of the devs' revenue, since there's a lot of them, with each one buying small amounts of crystals for little money. And the tryhards were driving those players away.
-
Because they're planning to give the game a "second life" by reworking all the systems and making them more suitable for new players. Once new players start coming in, the Matchmaking, the supplies, the new repair kit, the overdrives - all that is going to make them want to stay in the game and keep playing. Yes, older (current) players don't like these changes, but unfortunately the devs' can't just cater to the dedicated players' wishes all the time, especially considering that those old players are part of the reason why new players didn't stay for long in the game in the past few years.
-
I don't get what you mean by this sentence. I think you're mixing something up. The matchmaking system test had two purposes: 1. Seeing how quickly and effectively the system distributes players into teams. 2. Testing to see if this system overloads the servers and causes errors/crashes/bugs.
-
Did you watch any of the videos on their YouTube channel? They explained exactly what kind of test this was and why it had to be done on the main servers.

Topic merged There may be some issues below M4, but at M4 level both hulls have the same HP and Mammoth has higher mass to compensate for Titan's speed and pushing power.

To make the "Python" paint, a Giant Cambodian Python is captured and starved for months. Then, it's given a tank and it swallows it whole. Any extra bits are cut off. So yeah, Tanki has a famous history for abusing animals and destroying the environment to make paints, so using some cow hides to cover a tank seems pretty insignificant compared to everything else they do :D

Topic merged Devs already plan to improve the balancing system by taking into account the efficiency rating and maybe the garages of players. So it may not be exactly how you suggest, but it will be better.
-
No one is even going to argue with that because that's exactly what happened. This was only a mass-testing event that was meant to see how effective the system is at putting players into battles without causing the servers to lag out or crash. And it worked! This was by no means the final version of Matchmaking, so there's still a lot of improvements to be done, including a proper matchmaking part which actually balances players by rank, equipment and effectiveness/efficiency rating.
-
Well, a lot of players have been begging for devs to add new hulls, but up until the addition of overdrive there was no reason to add any new hulls, because a new hull would be either too similar to one of the existing hulls, or it would have ridiculous stats, like insane speed and terrible handling. Either way, there's no point adding new hulls right now. But once every hull will gets its own unique overdrive, it will be possible to make hulls very different, with the main defining characteristics being not just the class (light/medium/heavy) but also the kind of overdrive it has. And I think it will make the game a LOT more interesting since we suddenly get these brand new game mechanics that will totally diversify gameplay and create new tactics.

Facing the hard truth : Coping with Mults, Sabotage and Cheaters
Maf replied to r_Damn_Slow0 in Archive
For chat violators - you can't report them. If someone is offending or insulting you in chat, block them using the /ignore [nickname] command in chat. For hackers - you need to record a video that clearly shows evidence of hacks, upload it and post a topic with evidence in the Game Violations section. -
You mean going into a near-empty battle and easily capturing flags and collecting boxes? Of course it's better because it's easier to complete, but it's also not the way these missions are meant to be completed. They are meant to be challenging tasks that you have to complete in the middle of a full battle, not something you can just do in 30 seconds in an empty map (with a friend/alt that waits in the enemy team). The "Battle!" button is just a preliminary test of a single feature of Matchmaking, which is putting players into a suitable battle and eliminating the need to manually select a battle. It's functional, but it's not enough. That's why MM is needed to fill in the missing gaps.
-
No need to start insulting. As far as I know, the server number shouldn't affect the amount of lag in Matchmaking battles. But if lag continues to be serious problem after MM is released, you can report it in the announcement topic.
-
Declined It partially makes sense to change it, but it means a lot of work to change something that very few players are concerned with. I mean, it's not like the current Moss paint is ruined because the moss isn't all on top, right? Also, moss can grow on the side of an object, so it's not totally wrong.

I think devs explained it a while ago that this makes the system a lot more complicated, or something. But I do like that idea.

Valid Selecting drop location for Gold Boxes from supplies

I disagree. First of all, what happened this week was just a test. I'm certain that once MM is properly released, the wait time will be around 30 seconds on average, and even less during peak hours. Second - in the battle list you need to find a battle with open spaces, check to make sure there's still enough time, check to see the teams and make sure there's no infamous mults, check the score to see if the battle isn't a complete loss and only then join, if the empty space hasn't been taken yet. Alternatively, you click the "Battle!" button and are likely to get sent to a half-empty map where it takes 3-5 minutes for people to join and for the battle to properly start. So in the end the wait time still adds up to those 2-3 minutes, same as during the test of the matchmaking system. I already spoke with Hazel-Rah about the box collection missions and he said that they will consider removing them once matchmaking is released. I completely agree with the fact that they force players to unwillingly sabotage their team.

That's way too much detail for something that's not gonna be implemented. You really misunderstand the purpose of Matchmaking battles. These games are meant to provide quick battles to those, who don't have the time or patience to select a game and join it manually. They press one button, they play, they leave. That's it. Why? You can already switch between "easy" and "advanced" by switching between Matchmaking and battle list. Some players like to play custom battles as much as they enjoy quick MM battles, so you propose to force these people to go into settings every time they want to switch between custom battles and MM? Not gonna happen. Nope. it will never be possible to join a matchmaking battle manually, because that means mults and saboteurs will still be present as they always have been. And the only way to get rid of them is to make MM battles inaccessible from the battle list. This isn't related to the matchmaking system, but rather to improving automatic moderation. And what you propose will serve no benefit whatsoever since scammers will quickly figure out which words they have to avoid in their scam messages, while honest players will be frustrated when they try to write something like "pass me the flag" or "is this your main acc?" in chat and get a warning for absolutely no reason. Way too complicated of a system for solving a problem that's not even that significant. Most power-levelling happens in 1v1 games (usually Arena or Island DM) in private battles. It's very hard to power-level in normal battles and in the rare cases when it does happen, other players can record a video and report on the forum. So if I join a battle with Wasp and some magnum one-shots me with DP every time I spawn, I will get kicked out? Makes no sense. It's better to have some occasional sabotage slip by unnoticed than end up with honest (low skilled) players getting kicked for no reason. The MM system already makes sabotage pointless because it's impossible to make your friend join the enemy team to sabotage them and help you win. I don't see why someone would want to sabotage their team to help some random players in the enemy team.

OK, let's see... First of all, you mentioned the choice of map twice. Now, I agree with you that it's annoying that we aren't able to choose maps with this system, but you have to understand that if players could choose the game mode AND the map that they want to play on, it would take ages to get 20 people who want to play the same map and game mode. So you would simply wait longer for a battle. For map choice you have to go to the custom battle list. Staying in the game - I agree with you there. I don't see anything wrong with being able to play another round in the same map. Devs would simply need to make a system that fills in the spaces of players that left. Although that might make the system more complicated so I'm not sure if they'll ever go for it. Invite friends and join friends in battles - impossible, as that would open up opportunity for multing and sabotage, which is the very thing this feature is meant to eradicate. If you want to play with friends - make a group (or go to custom battles). Instantly joining - not a problem, because before this update you'd join a half-full map and end up waiting for 3-4 minutes before it fills up. With this system, instead of playing in a half-full map (and potentially getting dominated by the opposite team while they have more players), you simply wait for a couple minutes in the lobby and instantly start a proper battle with full teams. Choose which server you play on - why the heck does that bother you? "Some people like that for various reasons". Care to state at least one logical reason? Mission status - agreed. That's rather annoying.
