Sure, if it's the enemy, flipping is fair play, but I don't kill them and I wish my team mates wouldn't either. It takes points away from the enemy and he's out of the way for awhile, though short. Flipping a team mate on purpose is unfair play and selfish. As I respawn, I ask the team mate why he flipped me. The usual answer, "'Sorry, accident." At my desk I'm saying,"Yeah, rrriiiiiiightttt, A-hole." If I can find him, I'll take out some revenge, but not at the cost of my team, as I have seen many times. Before the Missions, there were some bad apples, but since that update, it seems it has brought out the worst in some players.

I look at computer-ese and shake my head. How can anyone make sense of all those upper case letters, lower case letters, numbers and symbols I see over the numbers on my keyboard. It's all gobbledygook to me. But I suppose it's like any other language, you have to learn it to understand it.

I don't buy games, nor do I put money into games. I bounce around from game site to game site. There's a few I frequent more than others. Some are multi-player games, others are sites with a variety of games. I know, some of you think it's boring, but that's what I do.

I agree, it is a cheap shot. I think I've noticed it more since the missions came out. If you have the flag and a team mate needs flags for his mission, he'll flip you in hopes that you will give him the flag. I consider this sabotage. If I give up the flag, that's good game play. If I decide not to, in hopes the enemy will come, kill the saboteur and them me, then I'm the saboteur. If a team mate needs to take first place and you're holding first place, he'll flip you, causing you to self-destruct. That takes points away from you. If he pushes you over the side, it's considered a self-destruct. TO says they take points away for not having you tank under control. With the weapons in the game, some will flip you. How is that under your control? Then some players do it just because they can.

How do i tell/convience my parents that i dont wanna get graduated/dropout?
Torva-Messor replied to blasterbros in Archive
That in itself is good advice. But that isn't all you said. You have taken your first sentence out of context. In fact, you have completely ignored the rest of the advice. First you tell him to secure a good source of income. Then you tell him it doesn't matter. After that you tell him to defy his parents. Do you really think that when he reads your post he will stop at the first sentence? -

 Ambiguous at best. "Good" advice in a nutshell. Here's what you advised him, "First secure a good source of income. Well, it really doesn't matter whether you have a good source of income. Just drop out of school and defy your parents." (In a nutshell? "Yea me, to hell with them.") Very good advice. -

This game is here to stay. The old tanki has already died and buried. Players of the old tanki will leave, but will be replaced with new players. Another multi-player game I used to play for hours on end for several years, went down the same path tanki is now. The game is still up and running and as strong as ever. The game I left was not the game I started with. The number of people playing went way down, but has reached its peak again. A few months ago, went into that game's forum. The new players are still trying to tell the Devs what to do and what not to do to make the game better and features to be added or deleted. Games evolve. They change to what may interest new players, not the old ones that made the game strong to begin with.

Medically retired from Nursing, medically retired from the Military. I also have a background in construction and mechanical engineering. None of which I can use do to severe injuries to my back incurred while in the military. Now I nurse myself and drive a tank in an online game. I walk short distances with a cane, long distances in a wheelchair and try to convince my brain to ignore the pain.

How do i tell/convience my parents that i dont wanna get graduated/dropout?
Torva-Messor replied to blasterbros in Archive
This young man asked for some advice. As an adult, I gave it to him. Instead of criticizing me, why not help him? Yes, it's lengthy, but he is about to make a move that will affect him for the rest of his life. That is nothing that can be said in a couple sentences. I didn't think he gave this move enough thought. I tried to give him some direction. What did you give him? Same goes for you. What sound advice did you give him? -

Instead of thinking of all these ideas, why didn't you act upon them or start working in that direction before graduating from high school? It's during this period your parents would have realized your true potential. But that time has passed. So far, you have shown your parents nothing. (or that's what I assume). Here's my take on it. I'm a parent of a child much older than you. However, if he came to me at 17 years old and informed me that he didn't want to go to college, but instead, start up his own business, I'd have to ask a lot of questions to determine how thoroughly his plan was thought out. If he came to me and told me that he had been thinking about this since he was 14 years old and has come up with 106 different ideas, talked to some people about their problems, got some positive feedback and that's what I want to do. Here are some questions I would ask him: 1...What type of business venture are you looking at? 2...You said if I gave you the money I had intended to spend on your education, you would pay it back. What guarantee do I have that you could pay it back? 3...You said you won't fail. Failure is a part of life. Everyone fails sooner or later. So, if your first business venture doesn't work out, then how many of those 106 ideas will you have to go through before you find something that works? There is a limit to the money. 4...It takes at least 5 years before a business starts showing it's full potential and realizing a small profit. How do you intend to support yourself during that time? Are you going to be that 30 year old guy, still living at home, still being supported by his parents, while you are still trying to find your niche in life? 5...You said you want to go to the USA to "talk" to people. Will you be coming back home? If so, when? Where are you going to stay? How will you take care of yourself? That college money goes just so far. 6...What's your back up plan? A lot more businesses fail than become successful. How many businesses will you try and fail before you finally give up in frustration? The money is already spent. Now what? All you have is a high school education. How far do you think that's going to get you? 7...Since you have no idea what it is you're going to do, then it's obvious you haven't done any marketing research. So, you don't know if you are going to market your idea in reality or in virtual reality (aka: online marketing). Well, the questions are almost boundless, but I think you get the idea. At this point, you have no market, you have no plan, no back up plan, no education to fall back on, no money, except what's in your college fund. With the trip to the US, living expenses while your there and starting up a business, that money is spent before you even get started. All you have to bring to the table is 106 ideas. Sure, you may have heard or read about someone that started a very successful business with only a dollar in his pocket and is now a billionaire. But what they don't tell you is that they had investors lined up who were willing to finance the business venture. And, sure, you may have heard about a child that had an idea and now that idea is a multi-billion dollar business. But do you know why you hard or read about them? Because it's highly unusual, not the way things normally go. It's all a matter of luck, being in the right place at the right time, talking to someone who believed in you. Personally, I don't think you have thought this through very well, or not as well as you think you have. Are you going to sell a product or invent a product? You may have talked to a one or two people who would buy your product, but one or two people does not make a business that is going to pay the bills, put food on the table, support a wife and children. pay the taxes not only yours, but those of the business, too. Your Dad has a 9 to 5 job because he knows that at the end of the month, he's going to get a paycheck. That very paycheck that gave you all the things you needed and wanted as you grew up from an infant. The very paycheck that was going to send you to college so you can have a good start in life. Something you can use to get you that good paying job. I don't know your financial situation. Maybe your parents have bottomless money bags. I do know this, your parents love you very much and want nothing but the best for you. They want you to be successful in life. To have a good job, a good home and all the nice things that go with it. They have sacrificed themselves so you won't fail. Don't throw that love away. Make your parents proud of you and your accomplishments. Make your parents say, "See that young man over there? He's my son and I'm very proud of him. He will go far in this world." I'm not trying to discourage you, your creativity, your ideas and dreams. All I'm trying to do is get you think a lot further down the road, than you have. My advice to you is to get that education, it may be the last chance you have. Get a 9-5 job, put some money away in bank. Give this idea of yours a lot more thought. Have a plan, a viable plan, one that works. I know that's not what you want, but life is full of things we don't want, but have to accept. You're young, you have a whole life time ahead of you. Don't throw it away. Please. You wanted advice. well that's mine. Take it or leave it. -

The Christmas AS Format on More Maps (& Clan Battles)
Torva-Messor replied to LittleWillie in Archive
There's a lot of players out there that love a strategy challenge and Madness would be a good problem solving strategy challenge for them. OH, OH....WAIT....WAIT!!! I'm getting a visual, here. It's forming....AAHHH, YES!! There it is. Madness Map. Blue up top, red bottom. Big tanks defending and Wasps as flag runners. Wasps can hide very well on the ramps and a good Wasp user can out maneuver a well planned aim. With Speed enabled, only the most skilled can kill them. However, if the Wasp speeds up the ramp, pops over the top, a glancing blow can easily send him spiraling back down to floor and quite possibly through a missing tile. Frustration abounds. Yes!! And the forums will be busy for weeks with players pros and cons (mostly cons) about how unfair red Madness is. Oh yes. I think this should be implemented tomorrow. :P  -
Sure I use supplies, but I don't buy them with real world money. The only time I use them is if I'm up against a team of "durggers." Look at my profile. I've seen players half my rank having used a thousand of each supply. I do ok for myself. I'm not "Top Dog" in a battle, but I'm not always last, either. I'm not opposed to using supplies. What I don't like are those who use them constantly throughout the game. If the one in their inventory is still in time-out, they will go into the battle field and grab more. I call them "weak tanks and weak weapons." In my estimation, they have spent money mostly on supplies and less on the tank and weapon, thinking the supplies will fill that gap. I know from experience this is true. I've been up against druggers (buyer of drugs) right after they respawn of if their supplies are still in time out. They are easy kills. But with a DD activated, they can be very hard to kill. I don't have any M3's in my garage and probably never will have. The reason is because I don't spend money on games and I have to buy supplies in order to compete with my peers. I have a limited income. Games don't put food on the table, a roof over your head or a car in the driveway. It doesn't keep the electricity on, the water running, and the natural gas flowing for my furnace and clothes dryer. I don't have Mommy and Daddy to ask, nor any other family member. When it comes to survival, I am an island upon my self. Am I jealous? HELL NO, I'm not jealous. If you have the money to waste on a game that doesn't care if you live or die, then go for it. If you have parents, relatives, friends who are willing to give you that money to waste, fine with me. Personally, if I had the extra money, I'd rather put it in the bank for something that I need, give me some pleasure, or come in handy in the event of an emergency. What I don't like, is the unbalance in play supplies create. If an M2 is suppose to have the power of an M4, then make the M2 an M4 and so on. Supplies are here to stay. It's a money maker. As long as players are willing to waste the money, then the supplies with always be there. This goes for the upgrades and modules, as well. I have some modules, but they are left over from the days when they came with the paints. I will never be able to buy a module, nor will I ever be able to have enough crystals to buy a kit or an M3, because I depend strictly on what I make in the battles. Yes, I have been very tempted to spend money in this game, if only to be able to kill an enemy tank that isn't already 3/4 dead. But then I look at my dogs and think, "At the end of the month, if I don't have enough money to buy dog food, I would feel very, very angry at myself. You didn't want to make this personal, but it is personal. When I started playing this game, it was a non-buyers game with the option to buy. Now, with all the updates that cost extra real world money, it has become a buyers game with the option not to buy. It's all about the Have's and Have-Nots. Buyers are the Have's and the non-buyers are the Have-Nots. It's a phenomenon that has been raging all through history. The problem with buyers is that they depend upon whatever it is they buy with their money and can't really appreciate the dynamics of the game without them. It's a lot like gambling and other such habits. Once you feel the power, the win, the excitement of the one shot kill, it's hard NOT to buy. It becomes a way of life, sort to speak. FEEL THE POWAH!! Personal conclusion. TO and the Developers of TO have set up an environment of "psychological warfare" sort to speak. Buyers have bought into that trap, because they feel they cannot compete, do their best, have lost self-confidence in their ability to play effectively without buying. Rarely, will you see them in a PP battle that has supplies deactivated. I'm not talking about the occasional buyers, I'm talking about the habitual buyers. If I sound angry, it's because, I am. This used to be a fun game to play. One I spent hours playing, until it became a buyer's game. Now it's not as fun anymore. I may spend an hour playing and then call it quits. Now, I spend more time in the forums, than I do in battle. I have found other multi-player games just as fun, if not more, that doesn't require me to spend my hard earned money in order to compete. Okay, I'm off my soap box. You asked, so I responded.

Things you have not and will NEVER achieve in tanki
Torva-Messor replied to deadmanrising in Archive
1...Liking TO as well as I did before all the nerfs and buffs 2...Being able to take out an entire blue team on Silence with my Firebird again. 3...Becoming a buyer so I can fairly compete with my buying Peers 4...Achieving Generalissimo because I don't play as often as I did (see #1) 5...Understanding how each update that costs more real world money is for the betterment of the TO Community. 6...Seeing Tanki go back to a Non-Buyers game with the option to buy. It has become a Buyers game with the option not to buy. 7...Having separate servers for buyers and non-buyers (I know the lament...buy a pro pass. But that isn't what this is all about). I guess that's enough for now. -
