    Shaft Vs Railgun

Shaft is way to easy to "outflank" and too slow to turn. Firepower alone only works in a "shooting gallery" or in cross-covering pairs; outside of this you need firepower *and* manoeuvrability. Low rank, unskilled players (and high rank buyers) with slow heavy hulls and a shaft are just cannon fodder.

    Why does everybody like Nintendo.

Nintendo64 - Goldeneye. Set the (gold) standard.

    Railgun nerfed!

Railgunning is still all about fire-and-movement and setting up the second shot. Most Vikings were 2-shot kills with an M3 pre-rebalance, and pre-rebalance it was 75% Vikings with Rico/Thunder. Its still 2-shot kills on 75% of tanks, I'd say. The RB added to the entertainment value - low rank players using Shaft badly as cannon fodder and increased risk/danger from high-ranks with Smokey.

    Fix Freeze

You can hit a situation in an enemy base where you manage to kill a freeze, they respawn, come back and finish you off while you are still frozen; this does kind of mess up the gameplay in some CTF games on some maps - Crash, for example.

    Farewell, my tanksmen.

Broken for whom? Most companies fall over do so because they can't scale up and maintain their service levels with the $ they generate. I suspect Tanki's economic model was very badly broken, hence the effort put into change.
  6. Just played in Crash with a bunch of ranks my level and higher. Mostly Hornets but a couple of Vikings, 1x rico, 3xfreeze, 2xrailgun, 1x Smokey and I was messing about with Isida. Isida Vs Freeze was very even, depending on who snuck up on who. Rico was toast every time, but never "checked his six" The "long guns" tried to mix it up at close range with Freezes and Isida - messy! All seemed about right...

stupid mult will win or they won already1234567iopa

So a crystal is worth how much in real money again? 10 cents? So a goldbox is a dollar? I'm guessing that a dollar is worth much more to a Russian than to you.....

This will make the game complete...

Smoke would add a lot of fun (smoke granades!) but I suspect the lag would kill everything...
  9. Wasp and Smokey? Lucky. We used to dream of Wasp and Smokey. We used to 'ave bicycles and peashooters. Wasp and Smokey - didn't know 'e was born.
  10. The goal was to increase the "value" of the Wasp as part of "balancing" the game; so the Hornet is no longer a T2 "replacement" for the Wasp - they are both valid hulls in their own right. The "look" of a tank isn't an issue in Tanki - there's no air to resist. In the real world at the speeds we are taling about (8m/s => 480 m/min => 28.2kp/h) wind resistance isn't a big issue compared to weighing less.

Indeed, which is why we have no supplies battles, right? Having options to limit what is in and out would be really good, for those that want it, but as you point out now supplies (and no proetction paints) would need to be options.

    twins is TOO STRONG

It turns out that just calling people "stupid" when they don't agree with you is a particualrly weak form of argument and seldom gets anyone to agree with your point of view. Still, carrying on with the same old tactics and complaining when they no longer work effectively does seem to be a bit of a theme in these post-rebalance threads :) So for the record, a few "facts" (or perhaps opinions) for you: I'm not stupid, I just disagree with what you have to say I enjoy the challenge of developing new tactics to beat "hopeless situations" which is why I play Tanki. I like the fact that skill is now more important than "buying rank" (directly, via cheating, or via drugging) Part of "equalling out" the weapons/hulls is to make it *easier* to add new hulls/weapons without balance problems I'm enjoying appling my skills and knoweldge to adapting to the new game play If you are struggling to understand the new Tanki, perhaps starting afresh with a new account may help.

    Anti-Isida guide : A discussion

Before the rebalance - yes. After the rebalance? The "shaft menace" seems greatly reduced as a result of a combination of factors. More balanced, you might say ;-)

    twins is TOO STRONG

Fully agreed!! I was just laughing at how some many people are struggling post-rebalance rather than learning how to play the game under the new rules. Good skills and understanding the +/- points of each weapon, hull and paint is still important. As I commented on a different thread, you can easily tell (here and in battle) who *fought* their way up to a high rank, and who *bought* their way up.

    twins is TOO STRONG

Wasn't "pay to win"? Funny how a lot of the threads are complaining about the "money they wasted" on Tanki then, and all the old threads we had about "druggers ruining the game" Based on what I have seen in the last few weeks: Rank-unlocked weapons/hulls/paints no longer give you dominance; skill with a given combination weapon counts a lot more now Buying rank quickly gets you into battles where non-buyers can take full advantage of your lack of skill M3 prices means that buyers have to spend thousands of dollars for advantages that drugs/skill can overcome

    twins is TOO STRONG

Okay so far we have (across a few threads) twins is to strong smokey critical hit is too powerful freeze is too strong rico is too weak, takes too long to recharge thunder is no good anymore isida is too strong shaft is underpowered and no good anymore Three things from this: 1) not many have tried the new firebird yet - wait for the thread! 2) lots of people are trying new things, and they are winning (and not whining!) 3) If you know how to use it, then it is "business as usual" for the Railgunners....

And yet you cared enough to read, and post. Paradox!

    FPS suggestions

I think you nailed it on (part) of the solution, but I suspect the problem is more fundemental than that. Tanki is limited to 2500 (players) x 28 (servers) at any one time at the moment, say 70,000 at any one time or ~1.7m "player hours" a day at most; this is the biggest limit they have on making money. If it was as simple as adding more hardware then they could do what everyone else does (Facebook, Netflicks etc) and just get time on the large-scale cloud servers (AWS, Azure etc.) - which is pay-as-you-go. I suspect there are either some bigger (ie expensive) software issues to contend with, or that Tanki is so computationally expensive its not economic to run on the cloud....

    Anti-Isida guide : A discussion

So far they have made Smokey, Freeze, Isida and Twins too powerful according to some threads here. They have also made Rico and Shaft too weak, according to other posts. So we just need "Firebird is too powerful" to the list of complaints (and there's a lot more high ranks trying this out, I see) "Railgun isn't fair" (lots more railguns out there now too!) "the new Thunder is way to strong" and we'll have the full set.
  20. KiwiZaphod

    The infernal price of lag.

Can you explain how they can fix the lag issue without more money? Thanks!
  21. I suspect the increase in Freeze's abilities will lead to a uptake in Firebird, which has also got a lot more menacing; that afterburn effect is *painful*. Luring the short-range weapons out into "long gun" kill zones is pretty easy too - a few faint attacks and players who are happy to be bait (with out without their knowledge!) seems to work very well.
  22. KiwiZaphod

    Killing Spree!

Ideas that involve all players getting more access to more crystals easily are unlikely to get any traction, even if they are popular. Crystals are money. Why would Tanki give away more money?
  23. KiwiZaphod

    Server Change

@Descape - or a true measure of a players skill, one-on-one, with the same hulls and weapons :)
  24. KiwiZaphod

    Idea

It does sound rather a lot like this was a person who was out to sabotage your team; I'm assuming you didn't win the CFT? People can work in pairs - or larger groups - for this - the "noob" is an experienced player with a set of low level accounts that they use (perhaps with others) for this purpose. Time limits on flags might help, but there are many other forms of sabotage, to be honest, which are just as easy to pull off. Keep an eye on the opposition team names - if it happens a lot when you play the same people....

    Anti-Isida guide : A discussion

Its very satisfying running away backwards from an Isida player at high speed and dropping a mine as you go. Very under-rated, mines.
