A new direction for the forum has already been chosen. If now there are situations when a moderator locks a topic because it can be done, the new guideline is to close only those topics that HAVE TO be closed. Of course it won't happen instantly, but this is the direction to go.

The voting is held in English, German and Russian communities of Tanki Online, all the votes will be summed up. The purpose of it is to get all the ideas and suggestions on how staff can improve their work in one place. Any discussion of moderation in other threads and sections will result in bans as usual. Any discussion of bans in this topic is forbidden (for that, use forum PM) so as referring to specific members of staff. Messages that are polite and constructive are welcome. This is in a demo mode right now, we'd like to see how it goes, whether the community is ready for that and whether it can actually help to improve the quality of staff's work.

Let's not make this a topic for discussing my PM, I do my best to answer all of it, at least those messages that make sense. As for this topic having a point or not, it's not made to address some specific player, it's for the community in general and it looks like most people find it quite useful.

Lately we’ve been getting more and more feedback from players about some issues. I’d like to express all my ideas here and announce something small but nice in the end. Let’s start. Freedom of speech. Constructive criticism is always welcome. Showing anger, insulting game and its creators is not and will result in certain measures taken, up to warnings and finally, bans. Negative doesn’t necessarily means bad. Negative comments on MUs resulted in a major rethink of the whole system. Many complaints about the team kick will most likely result in it being disabled or adjusted. Physics update that got many comments from members of the community is not an exclusion. It resulted in the group of English play testers that work directly with Hazel-Rah and make physics better for all of you. Bans. Do not break the rules and you won’t get banned. Of course sometimes it is difficult to see what breaks some rule and what doesn’t but we are doing our best to find this edge and tell all the players where it is. Do not be afraid to complain or ask. We are here for you, not the other way around. Fun. In a recently made topic an interesting issue was raised. Generally it’s about the fact that the forum is not as lively as it used to be. The thing is that our community gets bigger, newcomers arrive every day. The more people we have, the more threads and comments are made. The more content we have, the more important the rules become. Following them is a vital thing and there are problems on both sides. Moderators make mistakes sometimes and close topics that could stay open without causing any harm. On the other hand, players basically kill genuinely interesting discussions by going off-topic and starting to create chaos. And here I’d like to say that unlike our little trolls, I don’t think that chaos is fun. And we can have fun without breaking any of the rules. Now about that small thing that I promised. At the end of this month we’ll start a topic where the community will be able to choose the best assistant of administration in each group (chat moderators, forum moderators, consultants, reporters). It will be just a first try and if we see that the community is mature enough for things like that (there won’t be discussion of moderation, insults, threats, etc.), it will become regular. Victoria (community manager responsible for all the administration helpers) and I discussing the community's voting on best assistants. So what we need to do is work together (players, moderators, community manager, everyone) and make this forum a better place. Following the rules is not that difficult and there is no need to be afraid of them. Just be constructive, share your ideas and of course be polite. And things will get even better.

Discussion here can continue as long as everyone follows the rules and continues the idea of the main post.

Selena, I understand your feelings and thank you for saying what you think. On the other hand, what you need to understand is that players that don’t break any rules won’t be banned. Saying what you think is a vital thing and that’s actually what this forum is all about. But as any other forum, this one has some rules that every player is obliged to follow, and he or she actually agrees to do it when entering the forum. Breaking these rules will result in warnings and bans. All the other things are allowed. A simple example is the topic where people were giving a mark of 1 to 10 to Tanki before and now. Lots of people shared their ideas there, some of them were quite negative. None of users were banned or even warned. Why? Because everyone followed the rules. To sum it up, constructive criticism is welcome and that’s what keeps us going, that’s why things change and get adjusted all the time, that’s why we will most likely make one radical change to micro-upgrades that will change it completely. So as long as you follow rules, you are welcome to discuss stuff and share your opinions. As for bans and closing topics, moderators’ goal is to remove topics and messages that give no valuable information, insulting, or break the rules. If something is interesting and provokes a discussion according to the rules, it doesn’t get removed as active civilised polite discussion is what makes forum a forum and that's how we see it. PS about that article with feedback about the new physics. It was an exact translation of a Russian article posted on the TO News site and shows what Russian testers and old cybersport members think (those who can be called truly experienced in things like physics and gameplay in general). All the articles are neutral there, that’s how it is supposed to be.
